The Bruins kicked the crap out of the Lightning last night, beating them 6-2.

It was a good game and the Lightning did not take their beatdown very well. The game got a little chippy in the second period and downright violent in the third.

There were numerous fights that were actual fights. By that I mean there were very few of those "hockey fights" where two guys grab jerseys and circle each other until the refs break them up.

These guys were grabbing each other, taking full swings at each other, landing punches in the face & head and not falling to the ice to end the fight. The refs actually had to get in between them to break them up and even then, they were still swinging at each other.

So the Bruins and Lightning are now tied at 49 points each but since the Lightning have played fewer games, they have a better win-loss record so they hold on to the third divisional slot.

That means the Bruins need to continue playing hard and winning games if they want to get back into the mix.
