When I used it to clear my driveway the other day, it was running a little rough and it seemed to lose power going through the heavy stuff left by the plows.
I can't help but wonder if maybe it's got a valve issue, which kinda sucks. The machine is probably 14 or 15 years old now and it has a Tecumseh flathead 10.5hp engine. Those particular engines have a set of valves that, over a time, begin to cut into the valve seats. Since the valves are not adjustable, the only solution is to take them out and grind a tiny amount off.
Yes, it is as much work as it sounds and to be honest with you, I have no desire to pull the head off and check the valves while it's still 20° outside.
I just need it to make it to April. That will put the winter behind us and I can find a nice warm day to take the engine apart.
It also gives me the entire summer to replace the machine if I screw the engine up...
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you our federal government:
Here are some links:
- Key line in this story: "I’m a good dude who did a dumb thing on camera."
- Thank goodness we already received our refund.
- Tony Weiner is back!!!
- Smuggled Beetles would be a great name for a 1980's Beatles cover band.
- Great, just what we need, something else to worry about.
- Of course they won't. Under current US law, rich people get away with everything.
