There is very little worth talking about.

It's kinda quiet in my non-work world right now. On the other hand, my work-world is a pain in the ass. I'm too damned busy to do much other than try to keep my head above water.

That means when I finally get home, All I want to do is shut down my brain and de-stress.

Never give up. Never give in.

At least I think that's what the catch phrase was in the Galaxy Quest movie....

*

So having said that, I give up.

My back was fine all weekend. Then, I went to work and now it's killing me again.

I give up. I give in.

The world is filled with idiots.

Two videos were released on youtube yesterday by a group of protesters who are trying to make a hero out of the dead slimeball from Boston that got out of his car and shot Officer John Moynihan in the face.

I won't link you to the first video but if you click on the authors name, you'll find it.

This is the second video and in my opinion, it speaks volumes about the agenda of the protesters.

I would like to point out that the Constitution of the United States makes it clear that the citizens have the right to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

What those people were doing was not that.

Well, I spent a few hours with John (yes, he seems to have survived his back surgery) shopping for a new computer for him. He ended up getting a shiny new laptop.

At some point, we'll probably end up building him a new desktop to go along with his laptop but until then, I think he'll be happy.

They're on a roll

Springfield had it's ninth murder last night. That's nine murders in less than four months. And we haven't reached the hot summer season when most murders occur.

At the current rate, there may very well be more than 25 murders in the city this year.

For the record, there were twelve murders in 2012, nineteen murders in 2013 and fifteen murders in 2014.

I thinking of taking a week off.

Maybe if I walk away from the stress of my job for a week, my back will return to it's normal un-painful state.

*

My friend John managed to survive some spinal surgery this past Monday and he is currently recovering at home.

I'll spend some time with him tomorrow shopping on-line for a new computer because there is nothing worse than being trapped in your house and not having the internet around to keep you company.

Other than that, nothing much to report.

Nothing today

It was one of those days that didn't go very well.

My back still hurts like hell, I'm tired because I got no sleep due to my back and I have no desire to post anything.

Maybe tomorrow will be better

For the second time in as many weeks, I've managed to destroy someones favorite coffee mug.

Last week, I put my daughters favorite "Dr. Who" coffee mug into the dishwasher and it came out as a "No longer a Dr. Who" coffee mug.

That cost me $15.00 to buy a new one for her.

This morning I was asked by my wife if I had put her favorite Keene State travel mug in the dishwasher. I said, "Probably" to which she responded, "Guess that explains the leaks and cracks."

I've already contacted my youngest to pick up a new one and bring it home with him at Easter.

I've also decided that I'm no longer going to put anything into the dishwasher because apparently the dishwasher is a combination sand blaster / wood chipper for some of these drink containers.

...but it was damned cold for March 22.

At some point, I would like to hear a member of the established media ask President Obama how he thinks the "Arab Spring" thing is going?

After they get his answer, they should then go ask a some people from Syria, Yemen, Libya, Egypt and Algeria how they think the "Arab Spring" thing is going.

Hopefully we had the last snowstorm

I woke up to find about 3 inches of fresh snow in my driveway. I'm really hoping that was the last time we see snow until at least October or November.

I don't know about you but I'm kinda sick of snow.

Happy vernal equinox!

At 6:45pm this evening, the sun was located directly over the equator and spring began. You might have missed it because of the blowing snow and blizzard-like conditions.

As always, we ask that our druid friends please refrain from sacrificing any virgins.

Time for a brain dump.

My father died at the age of 55. I am two years older than he ever was. I'm not quite sure how I feel about that.

If I make it to 65, I'm going to start smoking again. I miss it every day.

If they ever legalize marijuana in this state, I'm gonna start smoking that again as well. It's not that I miss it, it's just that I never had a hangover after smoking pot. After drinking beer, I always have a headache.

My fertilizer guy called the other day and left a message. They want to put the first application down in April. I still have two feet of snow on my lawn so I'm thinking April might be a little ambitious.

President Obama wants to pass a law making it mandatory to vote. Is he not aware of the fact that there are people out there who are so uninformed that they don't even know who the current President is. Do we really want those people picking our government....

My friend Pat has put his house on the market. If anyone is looking for a recently remodeled cape in a nice neighborhood, you should check it out.

There has been a constant human presence in space since November of 2001. That means that for the last 13+ years, someone has been floating over your head.

Nothing of note today.

I was going to read the news and report on all the weird stuff that happens in this world of ours but the only thing of note that happened today is one group of people attacked and killed another group of people.

What bothers me is that the weird part of the story is not that a group of humans killed another group of humans for no reason. the weird part is that the dead people were tourists in North Africa.

Anyone that goes on holiday to the middle-east or North Africa needs to have their head examined.

Then again, we're not much better...

I hope you stayed sober and smart today.

I left work early today because today is one of those days where you just know there are dozens of idiots in local bars who think it's okay to get staggeringly drunk and then drive home.

I don't want to be on the roads with those idiots.

And for the record, it's not okay to get staggeringly drunk and then drive home. If you want to get staggeringly drunk, get someone who is sober to drive you home.

That weekend was too short.

I need longer weekends. Much longer.

*

Our youngest showed up unannounced last night to "hang out with mom on her birthday".

He's on break this week but he's working four of the days and he has "gigs" on the other two or three days so last night was really his only opportunity to see us.

It's always nice to see him.

Not a good outing for the Red Sox

They got their butts whooped 11-4 this afternoon but since it's spring training, it doesn't really matter.

What matters is that we are 22 days from the first game on April 6, 2015.

Hopefully they play better than they did today.

It might be time for a change.

They say that you don't leave a company, you leave a boss.

After 28 years at my company, I've been given a boss who more than makes up for his lack of intelligence with an incredible amount of arrogance.

It might be time to either move within the company or call it a day and move on to something different.

We'll see how the next few months go.

Sleep is a good thing.

I managed to fall asleep at 10:00 last night and I only woke up once until I woke up for good at 5:30 this morning.

That, my friends, is some pretty damned good sleep....

I haven't mentioned this but we are now 8 games into the spring training season and the Red Sox have won 6 of those games. I realize it's spring training but a 6-2 record is a pretty damned good record.

I think my semi-annual insomnia has decided to coincide with the time change. I'm sleeping like a baby which is another way of saying I'm waking up every few hours, going to the bathroom and feeling hungry.

So the DJIA dropped 333 points today and I'm not really all that concerned. As a matter of fact, I'm kind of hoping it drops another 300 points tomorrow and then another 300 on Thursday because on Friday, I'll take everything out of my fixed and toss it all into equities.

My window stayed drip-free today.

I am not a fan of this twice-yearly changing of the time. I'm pretty sure that Ben Franklin was drunk in some Philadelphia dive bar when he came up with the idea of changing the clocks.

I can hear him now, "Wait! No, shhhh, listen to this! I have a great idea! Lets tell everyone that they need to change their clocks twice a year. No, wait. Shhh! listen to me.  This will mess with them! They'll be walking around like zombies for three days! It'll be great! I love you guys."

Some leaks

This morning, the window started to drip water, again.

It did this for about a half hour. Then a large chunk of ice fell off the roof and the window stopped leaking.

I'm really hoping that's the end of that...

*

The Dog and I went for a walk this afternoon. While I spent most of the walk trying to avoid traffic on the narrow roads, he spent most of the walk wandering around making yellow snow cones out of every mound of snow he came across.

He likes letting everyone know when he's been around.

More leaking

Despite my best efforts to remove snow from the roof and hack channels through the ice dam, I still have leaks coming in my kitchen bay window. Looks like we will be doing some rebuilding this spring because from what I can tell, the window is leaking because it's pulling away from the house.

I'm no construction guy but that doesn't seem like a good thing to me....

We're trying a new dog food in the hopes of lowering the methane levels in our house.

I swear to God there are times when I think my hair is about to burst into flame...

Nothing good to say.

I spent a lot of my day in a presentation that didn't go well.

I'm thinking maybe I said some things I probably shouldn't have said...

*

Having said that, I'm done for the day

Thursday, March 5, 2015

I'm really hoping the leaks are done.

I'd like to be optimistic and say that I've succesfully cured the leak issue but since I'm a dyed-in-the-wool pessimist, I think I'll just prepare for them to come back in a few days.

What I can say is that when I woke up at 2:30 this morning and checked, there was nothing dripping. That means I have now gone 24 hours without a leak.

And after reading that last statement, trust me when I say there is no way I can possibly go 24 hours without taking a leak...

Just wanted to clear that up in case you were confused.

*

The Red Sox will play the twins in their first official spring training game this evening at 7:00pm. I checked the NESN website for their TV schedule and found that they will be carrying a hockey game at that time.

Fortunately I was smart enough to check the MLB channel lineup and guess what?

MLB network is carrying the game! I get to watch the Red Sox play baseball tonight!
