They did not play well

The Tigers beat the Red Sox 5-0 last night. The Red Sox were no-hit through six innings when Refsnyder got a single in the bottom of the seventh.

I'm not sure if the Tigers starting pitcher was that good or if the Red Sox batters just couldn't hit shit.

As for Pivetta, he pitched okay. And by "okay", I mean at one point, he struck out 8 batters in a row. The problem is that the other batters managed to get some hits off him.

In the end, it didn't matter. They lost to a team that historically is worse than them.

Game two of the series is tonight at 7:10. Houck has the start.

I found this on the interwebs and it made me laugh.

I'm not sure if I find it funny because of the sleeveless orange jumpsuit, the way his legs are splaid apart, or the fact that it looks like he's only got about 10 pounds on that barbell.

Also, I kinda like the way Trump has turned his conviction into a battle to "save the constitution".

I wonder if every other criminal can claim he/she is simply trying to save the constitution. I'll have to remember that line if I ever get convicted of a crime.

"Your Honor, when I propositioned that cop dressed as a hooker, I was only trying to save the constitution!"

Time to flip some burgers and then listen some baseball.

Yes, I said listen because I can't watch it. Once again, they are streaming it on some service I don't have.

They didn't get swept.

The Red Sox lost last night but at least they didn't get swept and that makes me happy.

The way I look at it, the Orioles are a really good team and the Red Sox are a good team that has experienced a lot of injuries. Hell, they have 6 pitchers in the DL, 2 infielders on the DL and 2 outfielders on the DL. That's a quarter of the 40-man roster that is unavailable to play.

If they can beat a team as strong as the Orioles with a damaged roster like that, they aren't doing bad.

Tonight they are back in Boston, (yes, I checked this time) where they start a 4-game series against the Tigers. Since the Tigers are half a game behind the Red Sox, it should be a pretty evenly matched series. Pivetta will start and the first pitch is at 7:10.

Looks like Trump has been found guilty on all 34 counts against him.

He's probably gonna have a shitfit on his truthee thing, blaming Biden for causing him to cover up his payoff of a porn actor for putting up with having bad sex with him and not telling his third wife about it.

Maybe this is why I only had 14 spam emails today.

Usually I have around 40 or 50 spam emails by now.

They won last night

Let me start by saying, "Oops, I was wrong".

Last Sunday I said, "The Orioles are heading into Boston for a three-game series".

That was incorrect. Turns out the Red Sox are in Baltimore so if the Orioles went to Boston, they would not be able to play each other...

I feel better having straightened that out. Let's see what's been happening in Baltimore, shall we.

The Red Sox will not be swept by the Orioles because last night, Bernardino came in to relieve a struggling Bello and he pitched lights out. He was, and this is not exaggeration, a superstar last night.

Funny thing about this is that Bernardino started the season in Worcester because someone in the Red Sox organization decided that Joely Rodriguez was a better option in the bullpen.

I did not understand that decision. In my humble, non-baseball-expert opinion, Rodriguez kinda sucked and Bernardino was a proven reliever.

Suffice to say that I think that whoever it was in the Red Sox organization that decided to go with Rodriguez over Bernardino should not be allowed to make any decisions more important than what flavor of Gatorade will be in the cooler.

And the more I think about it, that person probably shouldn't even be allowed to decide that.

So anyways, I'm happy they did not get swept and I'm even happier they stand a chance of winning the series tonight. Not a great chance because the injuries continue to pile up for them, but a chance none-the-less.

Crawford has the start tonight and the first pitch is at 6:35.

The jury is currently deliberating all of the evidence presented in the Trump porn star trial.

I suspect it will be more than a couple of days before a verdict is returned. Or maybe they believe what that douchebag Cohen had to say and they'll return a verdict tomorrow.

Hard to tell what a jury is going to do when it comes to witnesses that don't have a good reputation or any ethics.

I'm going to watch some baseball.

Some of the AC is installed

Today, my wife cleaned the pollen, dust & bugs off the windows and I put the air conditioners in the second floor. We don't need them but rather than wait until it was extra muggy to install them, we wanted them in now so they are ready to go.

The first floor will get done in the next week and we will be ready to take advantage of Mr. Carrier's invention when the heat really arrives.

Sometime in the next few days we will learn if the President of the United States is guilty of paying off a porn actress so she wouldn't tell anyone he was terrible in bed.

And yes, I said president because according to Michael "I'm telling the truth this time, I swear!" Cohen, Trump was writing those payoff checks while he was in office.

This should be interesting...

Baseball starts at 6:30 so I'm calling this done.

Today is Memorial Day

We should remember why it's called that.

No back-breaking work got done today. The closest I came to doing anything was when I looked at my wife and said, "Do you think I should drag the generator out of the garage and put it on the porch in case the storms knock out our power?"

She said, "No, we should be fine."

Turns out that so far, she is right and my back appreciates that. If something rolls in here later and takes out some power lines, I'll deal with dragging the generator out then.

My daughter had a visitor in her side yard yesterday:

Her dogs will not be going out unsupervised for a bit...

Pat has asked when the next golf outing will be scheduled. I suppose that means I need to take a look at what the weather guessers are saying about next 10 or 14 days.

No more mulching!

Today was going to be spent doing as little as possible and recovering from all the mulching.

Things didn't quite work out that way...

Instead of breaking my ass hauling mulch, I spent a few hours in a small space, twisting my back into shapes it didn't appreciate while re-caulking our shower.

Hopefully it doesn't leak...

The Red Sox managed to prevent getting swept this afternoon by winning the last game of their three-game series against the Brewers. They beat the Brewers 2-1 and almost got into a bench-clearing brawl when the Brewers first base coach echanged words with the Red Sox pitcher, Martin.

In the end, all the players stood around and listened to a couple of guys yell at each other before heading back to the dugouts.

I didn't have high hopes for this series because of all the Red Sox injuries. Also, the Brewers have been on a tear lately. They lead the NLCentral division and are in fourth place in the National League.

To be honest with you, I'm happy they won one of the games.

The Orioles are heading into Boston for a three-game series. First pitch is tomorrow at 1:05 and I'm not entirely sure how this series is going to go.

I have a feeling that once again, I will be happy if the Red Sox don't get swept.

Well this sucks...

Once again, Red Sox ownership has decided that they don't want me to watch baseball. Tonights game is being streamed on Apple TV+ and is not NESN.

I'm not sure what the "+" means. Maybe it means it's one better than plain old Apple TV.

What it really means is that I will be listening to the game on WEEI and tracking the plays on MLB Gameday.

I am not signing up for either Apple TV or Apple TV+.

Yes, we spread more mulch today.

Yes, my back hurts.

No, we are not done yet.

Trust me, 8 cubic yards is a lot of mulch.

Time to listen to some baseball.

They swept.

It didn't look good for the Red Sox last night. The Rays went up 3-0 in the second and it stayed that way until the fifth. Then the Red Sox hitters took over and started smashing baseballs all over the place.

They scored 5 in the fifth and 3 in the sixth. The game ended with the Red Sox winning 8-5 and taking all three games in the series.

They are once again above .500 and moving in the right direction.

They are off today while they head back to Boston. Starting tomorrow, they will play a three-game series against the Brewers.

Not a good day for the stock market:

Sure hope that turns back around soon...

Our society is screwed...

Claiming to have been misled by a company because the cookie doesn't look eactly like what's on the package is a sign you are easily misled and should probably be under some kind of court-ordered supervision.

Have you ever compared a McDonald's Big Mac with what it looks like menu sign? They look nothing alike. The burger on the menu looks like something I would make at my house using my own hamburger and buns. The burger they give you at McDonald's looks like something that someone had stepped on.

Grow up.

And any judge that allows that law suit to go to trial should be fired.

Yes, we spread mulch today. My guess is we managed to get another yard or so put down before the rains came in.

This is what the garden off our porch looks like:
I think the stuff looks pretty nice.

No sports for me this evening. Fortunately I have some DVRs.

Will they sweep?

With last nights win (5-2) over the Rays, the Red Sox have taken the first two games of the three game series.

If they win tonight, they will complete the sweep of the Rays which would make me a happy guy.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy they won the series but a sweep would make me happier.

So anyways, Bello has the start tonight. Let's hope things go better for him this time than they did the last time he pitched.

We got a shipment of 8 yards of mulch this morning and we proceeded to spend the majority of our day spreading half of that mulch in the front gardens of our house.

Of course we decided to do this on a day where the temperature exceeded 90° and the humidity was "soup". All I have to say is thank goodness I bought that trailer for my lawn tractor. If I had to tote all that mulch using a wheelbarrow, I'm pretty sure I would have ended up in the ER with heat stroke.

I've take three ibuprofen and now I'm going to spend the next few hours lounging on my couch, watching baseball.

They kicked butt

The Red Sox beat the Rays 5-0 last night and they are once again a .500 team.

Houck had a great game, facing twenty two batters over seven innings, giving up one hit, walking one, striking out five and allowing zero runs.

Game two of the series is this evening and the first pitch is once again at 6:50pm. That means I will have no issues watching all nine innings.

At least I hope I have no issues...

Trump's lawyers have completed their defense of their client and are prepping their closing arguments. Once those arguments are presented, the judge will decide the case.

The same judge that Trump and his lawyers spent the last four weeks pissing off.

I gotta admit, that is a hell of a defense strategy because if the judge finds Trump guilty, they have an automatic appeal ready to go. They will simply claim that the judge was biased and prejudiced.

Closing arguments are next week and then I guess we'll find out what the judge thinks.

After that, Trump's lawyers will find out if they are going to get paid. My guess is they won't get paid. He never pays his lawyers.

All the wins

The Worcester Red Sox won the second game of their double-header yesterday nad Nelly Korda won the Mizuho Open.

Not a bad day for sportages.

The Red Sox are in Tampa for a three-game series against the Rays. First pitch is at 6:50 and Houck has the start.

Hopefully he kicks ass and they start the series off with a win.

The constant stream of emails from Trump and his cult seems to have stopped for the time being but they have started sending me mail.

What really caught my attention was the pre-paid self-addressed return envelope with the request that I use my own stamp to help save them money.

I did the only thing I could think of doing and that is I stuffed his propaganda into the pre-paid self-addressed return envelope and mailed it back to him.

I figure I just cost Trump $1.30. The $0.65 he spent to send me his crap in the first place and the $0.65 he spent for me to send it back to him.

Oh, and if Biden sends me something, I'll do the same thing to him.

If we all did that, I'm betting we would see less mail begging us to send them money and demanding we "pledge our support".

I'm going to make some dinner and then watch some baseball.

A win and a loss.

Today's Red Sox game was carried by something other than television. I think it might have been Roku or Fubo or Dumbo or ShitHead. I'm not sure. What I am sure about is I couldn't watch it.

So, instead of watching the Boston Red Sox on tv, I watched the Worcester Red Sox on NESN and I watched the cartoon version of the Boston Red Sox on MLB.com Gameday.

The Worcester Red Sox lost to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders 3-6 this afternoon while the Boston Red Sox beat the crap out of the St. Louis Cardinals 11-3.

The Red Sox are still ½ a game below .500 as they head to Tampa Bay where tomorrow they start a three-game series against the Rays. First pitch is 6:50pm.

Oh, and since the game in Worcester yesterday was washed out by rain, they are playing a double-header today and, yes, NESN is carrying the second game as well. Worcester appears to be winning this one.

What does all that mean? It means that despite the Boston Red Sox ownership taking away my ability to watch the team play baseball, I'm still getting my baseball fix.

I am also getting my golf fix.

The Golf Channel is carrying the LPGA Mizuho Open and once again, Korda has a lead. She and Australia's Hannah Green have a 3-stroke lead at 13 under par.

All I'm going to say is, "Holy Crap! Those ladies can play golf!"

I have some DVR's to watch this evening so I won't be bored.

Not a great sports night

The Red Sox are below .500 and the Bruins are on vacation.

I only made it through seven innings before nodding off on the couch. I woke up to see Tom Caron and Jim Rice mumbing about something I could care less about.

Bello did not have his typical "lights out" showing last night. He only made it through 4⅔ innings, striking out four and giving up 5 earned runs, 3 of which were home runs.

In the end, they lost to the Cardinals 10-6.

They have now lost seven of their last ten games and have fallen below .500 in the standings. This puts them in fourth place in the ALEast.

They are back it again this evening. First pitch is at 7:15 so I will probably make it through all nine innings.

As for the Bruins, what can I say. I did not expect them to win last night and I wasn't disappointed.

They Bruins scored first, putting on into the goal during the first period. They held the Panthers untile the middle of the second period when the Panthers managed to slip one past Sawyman, tying the game 1-1.

The game remained tied until and with about two minutes left in the game, it looked it was going to go into OT. That was when the Panthers snapped a shot past Swayman, giving them a 2-1 lead.

That was how the game, and the Bruins season, ended.

The Panthers now move on to the conference finals where they will play the Rangers.

I could care less who wins that series but I'll pay some attention to it.

Not a lot of attention, just a little attention. Just enough attention so I'm aware of which one of those two teams will be moving on to the finals.

Yes, I know that Scott Scheffler went and got himself arrested the other day. I don't care.

If he did something arrogant, stupid and illegal, he deserved to be arrested and have his day in court

If he didn't do anything illegal, then the cop that got hit by the car Scheffler was driving should probably explain how he got hit.

Either way, I don't care.

And they lost again last night as well

They just can't seem to get their act together. This time it was the pitching that got them.

They went into the ninth inning tied 5-5. Jansen came in to close and he immediately gave up two runs. The Red Sox came up in the bottom of the ninth and couldn't get a run to save their lives. The game ended with the Rays winning 7-5.

They are in St. Louis to play the Cardinals this evening. First pitch is at 8:15 which means I probably won't be able to stay awake for more than 6 or 7 innings.

The Bruins and Panthers are back at it tonight at 7:00 and rumor has it Marchand will be back on the ice.

This should be interesting...

Yes, I managed to get my lawn mowed today.

We started our day at Home Depot picking up some vegetable plants. We returned home and put the new plants into the ground where we will either slowly kill them or have a bounty of peppers, squash, tomatoes and cucumbers. Who knows...

After that, for me, it was lawn mowing and car washing. While I did that, The Professor tore into her gardens in the back yard, getting them cleaned out and spruced up for the summer.

The Red Sox lost last night

And it only took them nine innings to do it.

Oh, and when I say "lost", I mean they handed the game to the Rays on a silver platter.

The defense made two errors and gave up three unearned runs. Since the final score of the game was 4-3, if they hadn't made those errors, they probably would have won the game.

They play the final game of their series this evening. First pitch is at 7:10.

Not much else going on in the news worth talking about. I'm sick of hearing about the UMass protesters, I'm sick of hearing about the Trump trial and I'm sick of hearing about global warming.

What I want to talk about is four-way stop signs.

I am under the distinct impression that they don't talk about four-way stop signs in drivers ed anymore. They completely gloss over the three simple rules that come into play at a four-way stop.
  1. All vehicles must stop.
  2. When there are two vehicles stopped at the line, the vehicle that arrived first has the right of way.
  3. If two vehicles arrive at the line at the same time, the vehicle to the right has the right of way.
Those are some pretty simple rules so I have to ask, why does it seem like no one knows them?

I go through at least four different intersections that are controlled by four-way stop signs and man, the number of people that I see who don't know how they work is amazing. They either blow through the stop sign like it didn't apply to them or they stop and refuse to move out of fear.

Simple rules people. Follow them and we'll all get home undamaged.

The Bruins survived

During the last few minutes of the game, the Bruins managed to hold off a vicious 6-man assault from the Panthers and win the game 2-1. And by vicious, I mean the Panthers were swarming the goal like a bunch of pissed-off hornets.

This means the series is now 3-2 in favor of the Panthers and the Bruins live to play another day. That day will be Friday when the two teams face off in Boston. Start time has not yet been announced.

As for the Red Sox, I watched all 12 innings...

It didn't look good for the Red Sox when the Rays took a one run lead in the first inning and the Red Sox were unable to answer with any runs of their own until the fourth inning.

In the fourth, they scored two and in the fifth they scored one more, giving them a 3-1 lead over the Rays.

The Rays quickly scored two in the sixth, tying the game 3-3.

And that was the way things stayed until the eleventh when both teams scored a run, tying the game 4-4.

Then, in the twelfth, with runners on first and second, the new guy, Romy Gonzalez, hit a line drive into right field and Wong was able to score from second, giving the Red Sox a 5-4 win.

As things stand right now, they are in third place in the ALEast, five and a half games behind the New York Aaron Judges.

They are back at it again this evening. First pitch is at 7:10

Once again, we attended an event this afternoon so there was limited internetting.

I had events today

We went to a recognition event on campus today and then it was down to Costco for some much needed stuff.

Now I'm trying to figure out what to do about dinner.

Tonight is a many sports kind of night and that means channel flipping.

The Red Sox lost to the Rays last night, getting beat 5-3.

They play game 2 of their four-game series tonight. Pivetta gets the start but I'm hoping the bats come back to life. Pitching really isn't their problem, it's their inability to get runners across home plate that is their big problem.

First pitch is at 7:10 this evening.

It's do-or-die for the Bruins this evening.

As I said yesterday, I don't have high hopes for them but I'll still watch the game.

Puck drops at 7:00 and the game will be carried by ESPN.

As I said, dinner is in question but I have limited ideas. That's because the recognition event was well-appointed with food and I indulged. A lot...

Maybe I'll just make a chicken sandwich.

They are down 3-1

The Bruins had nothing going for them last night and as a result, they lost the game 3-2. They are now down 3-1 in the best of seven and heading to Florida for tomorrow's game.

I do not have a good feeling about tomorrow's game but I guess we'll have to see what happens.

Houck has the start for tonights Rays / Red Sox game. Hopefully he brings his 'A' game.

I checked the injury list and it looks like Whitlock is in Worcester doing a rehab start (or two) which implies he is close to returning.

Casas is listed as returning in late June so they are stuck with the first base platoon they cobbled together. I gotta be honest with you, I'm thinking those two guys aren't much better than Dalbec. I'm of the opinion they should have stuck to him instead of sending him down and picking those guys up.

Yoshida is out with a bum thumb until at least early June. Possibly later than that. I guess it's one of those injuries that can't be predicted.

Anyways, first pitch is at 7:10 this evening.

Listen up Lizzy, most people in this country are concerned about things like the economy, housing, liveable wages, and the damned invasion taking place on our southern border. Pissing away half a billion on some idiotic pipe dream is just another example of democrats wasting money.

And wasting money usually results in tax increases.

There is a reason why even the people of Massachusetts didn't vote for you when you ran for president.

All the sports

The Red Sox and the Nationals played game three of their three-game series this afternoon with the Red Sox beating the Nationals 3-2 and taking the series 2-1.

It was Bello's first game back after his stint on the DL and he did okay. He faced 19 batters over 5 innings, giving up 4 hits resulting in 2 earned runs. Not bad for a guy who was out for almost a month.

Next game is tomorrow when they start a four-game series against the Rays. First pitch is at 7:10

The Bruins will try to even up the series tonight but without Marchand. He is listed as day-to-day and right now ain't his day.

The rest of the team has reviewed the video of the hit in slow motion and they are, to put it lightly, not happy with the Panthers.

Here's a quote from Bruins forward Trent Frederic regarding the Panthers:
"I think it pisses off everyone. I think this whole team ticks everyone off, to be honest."
Puck drops for this evenings game at 6:30 so I should have no issue watching all three periods.

Well, that sucked.

The Bruins lost 6-2 and the Red Sox lost 5-1. The talking heads on the morning news tell me the Celtics also lost but I don't remember what the score was.

No wins for Boston yesterday.

The Bruins are now down 2-1 in their series and things don't look good for them. Marchand took a major hit at the end of the first period, played through the second period but left the game at the start of the third period and did not return. The Bruins say he has "an upper body injury" which can translate as anything from a bruised rib to a concussion.

But a lack of Marchand wasn't the only problem. They just flat out played a bad game and I'm going to say it looks like the Panthers want to win more than the Bruins do.

Next game is tomorrow. Puck drops at 6:30. Hopefully someone lights a fire under them and they come out ready to win because without that desire, there will be no wins.

As for the Red Sox, what can I say. They are once again ending innings with runners left on base. They left 11 runners left on base and several of those runners were on third base. They just can't seem to get a the guy on third to touch home plate.

Fortunately, they made up for it today when they beat the Nationals 4-2 by actually moving base runners along and touching home plate.

The final game in the series is tomorrow. First pitch is at 1:35.

Since The Vet is much younger than I am and she is capable of staying awake like most normal adults, she was able to take a picture of the aurora last night.

The Panthers / Bruins game starts at 7:00 and the Nationals / Red Sox game starts at 7:10.

I'm gonna do the Picture-in-a-Picture thing but since you really can't see much in the small picture, I'm gonna be flipping back and forth between them.

I'm going to have a sore thumb tomorrow morning...

I'm pretty sure we're going to have a cloudy night tonight but if it turns cloud-free, you should take a walk outside before dawn tomorrow morning and look up. You might see the aurora.

Oh, and the reason you might see the aurora is because of a massive solar flare that blew out of a large sunspot on the sun. That means there will probably be issues with tv reception and internet speeds/access over the next few days.

Bad night for sportages

The Bruins played poorly last night. And by "poorly", I mean they sucked. They lost to the Panthers 6-1.

The puck spent a lot of time in the Bruins end of the rink but what really bothered me was that when the puck was in the Panthers end, there were only two or three Bruins players with it. It was like the rest of the team stayed back "just in case they were needed" or something.

They are off tonight while they travel back to Boston. They return home with the series tied 1-1. Hopefully they manage to win both home games.

Game three is tomorrow and the puck drops at 7:00.

The Red sox didn't fare much better, losing to the Braves 5-0 and getting swept in the two-game series.

To his credit, Sale is back to his old self and he pitched a fantastic game. His slider was as nasty as it gets and no one could hit it.

They are off tonight and tomorrow they start a three-game series at home against the Nationals.

Back on March 30th I posted that I was once again trying to grow grass.

Well guess what?

It's a channel flipping night

The Red Sox tried but they just couldn't overcome the Braves last night and they ended up losing 4-2

If O'Neill had hit the ball just about 10 feet farther than he did, they would have won. Instead, his shot out to center turned into one of those "Catch of the Week" things when the Braves outfielder grabbed it right at the wall.

Game two of their two-game series is tonight. I'm hoping the Red Sox win but I don't have high hopes. Sale is on the mound for the Braves and I can assure you, he's in excellent form this season.

Once again, first pitch is at 7:20 this evening. That means I should be able to make it through all nine innings.

The Bruins and Panthers play the second game in their best-of-seven series tonight. Puck drops at 7:30 which means I just might be able see all three periods.

If the Bruins win tonight, they will return home to Boston with a 2-0 lead. If they lose, they will return to Boston with a 1-1 tie.

I would like them to return to Boston with a 2-0 lead...

My state Rep, Angelo Puppolo, remembered my birthday. He always remembers my birthday.

Well, Angelo probably doesn't remember it's my birthday. He probably has people that work for him that use a database that reminds them to send me a birthday card. But it's the thought that counts.

No, he didn't send me the Red Sox schedule. I got that when my son and I went to opening day at Fenway.

They are back at it again tomorrow. Puck drops at 7:30 so I might be able to watch all three periods

The Red Sox are in Atlanta to take on the Braves tonight. Crawford is the starter and I'm kinda hoping he keeps his streak alive.

His last game was against the Giants and he went seven innings, facing 27 batters, giving up four hits, two runs, walking two and striking out six.

First pitch is at 7:20 so I should be able to make it through all nine innings.

Golf was played today and it was not good.

Pat, Willie and I ventured out for our first round of the season and we kinda stunk up the course.

I'd like to say it was because of some weird reason like high winds or locusts or maybe the 'rona but I can't. It was because we are old and we don't golf all that often so we basically are not good golfers. But we have fun and we manage to come close to being "golfers".

I give it another two or three rounds and we might actually become mediocre golfers.

I'm going to put my grill away and get into my stretchy pants in anticipation of tonights baseball game.

It's hockey night tonight

The Bruins and the Panthers will go at tonight in game one of the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Will I be watching it? Yes. Will I make it through all three periods? I doubt it. Hell, with an 8:00 puck drop, I'll be happy to make it through two periods.

The first two games are in Florida so I'm hoping the Bruins win at least one of them. It would be good to return to Boston with eaither a 2-0 lead or a 1-1 tie.

I'm particularly eager for them to beat the Panthers since it was the Panthers that knocked them out of the playoffs last season.

Over at ESPN, they interviewed 24 of their so-called "experts" and 23 of them predicted the Panthers will win this round. Only one, Steve Levy, predicted that the Bruins will win.

Steve Levy seems like an intelligent person.

One of our cats seems to think she is one of those meerkats...

Actually, that is what she does when she hears my wife in the kitchen. She's concerned she might be missing out on something.

Sorry, but no links today.

I'll have some tomorow

Holy Crap! They Won!

When I went to bed during the second intermission, the score was 0-0 and the Maple Leafs were outplaying the Bruins. If it wasn't for Swayman, the Maple Leafs would have had at least 2 or 3 goals because the Bruins just couldn't keep the Maple Leafs out of the Bruins end of the rink.

The Bruins passes were sloppy, their positioning was a mess and they just looked like a bunch of little kids trying to play hockey.

In the third period, after I had already turned my TV off, the Maple Leafs scored the first goal of the game. Fortunately, the Bruins were able to answer before the period ended, tying the game 1-1 and sending it into overtime where the Bruins scored the winning goal and moved on to round two of the Stanley Cup.

Their opponent in round two will be the well-rested Panthers, who will be the home team.

They head to Florida today and the series starts tomorrow. Puck drops at 8:00 and I hope the Bruins remember how to play like a professional hockey team before then...

In case you are interested, here is the schedule for the Bruins/Panthers series:

I suspect that the majority of those "TBD" times will be changed to 8:00pm. We'll have to wait and see what the TV schedulers come up with.

Ricky Gervais is the front man for a vodka called "Dutch Barn" and he has the best advertisements for it on Twitter:

He is a very funny guy.

My email reader is continuing it's learning and so far, it's doing a pretty good job.

This is what got dumped into my junk mail folder today:

There are 3 others from Trump's cult in my inbox that I had to manually mark as junk but 13 out of 16 isn't bad.

It will get better as I tag more messages as junk. Pretty soon, it'll just start dumping everything into junk and I'll be happy.

The Red Sox and the Twins game started at 2:10 this afternoon and there was another new guy on the field.

Some guy named Zak Short was playing third base and Devers was the DH. I'm not entirely sure why Devers was DHing but I will say that the SHort guy wasn't hitting the ball very well. Maybe he was nervous to be playing his first game with the Red Sox or...

...maybe there's a reason the Met's traded him to the Red Sox.

Anyways, The Red Sox broke the Twins winning streak at 12 games, beating them 9-2 this afternoon. They are off tomorrow while they head down to Atlanta where on Tuesday they will start a two-game series against the Braves.

On Wednesday, they will face Chris Sale so that should be an interesting game to watch.

Time for some dinner followed by some R&R. This staying up until all hours watching ⅔ of a hockey game is taking it's toll.

Big night in Boston

The Red Sox lost 5-2 last night and then they lost 3-1 this afternoon. Granted, the Twins are on a 12 game winning streak right now and no one can beat them but I was hoping the Red Sox would win this series.

Now I'm just hoping they don't get swept.

The final game in the series is tomorrow. First pitch is at 2:10.

It's do or die for the Bruins and the Maple Leafs tonight. One of those two teams will move on to the second round and the other team will go on vacation.

Based on last year, I'm not hopeful that the Bruins will be moving on to round two. As Pat said, "I'll be keeping my fingers crossed tonight for the Bruins. Hopefully they finish different from last year."

I'll find out what happened tomorrow morning because the puck drops at 8:00 tonight and the game is on ABC so there will be a lot of commercial breaks. I'll be happy to make it through two periods before I end up nodding off.

No, I don't care about the Kentucky Derby.

No, I didn't place any bets on the horses.

No, I'm not wearing any funny hats and I'm certainly not drinking any mint juleps. Hell, I'm not even drinking any beer.

I think I might have finally gotten everything off my old laptop and moved over to my new machine. I'll go through it one more time tomorrow and make sure but as soon as I am comfortable that everything has been moved, I'll reset the old machine back to its factory setting.

That will effectively remove all data and applications and install a pristine copy of the operating system.

Then I will take the machine to the Apple store and they will take as a trade-in on the machine I bought the other day.

Shades of last season

The Bruins / Maple Leafs series is now tied 3-3 because the damned Bruins seem to love tossing away a 3-1 lead.

This is exactly what happened last season when they were up 3-1 over the Panthers and managed to get themselves eliminated in round one when the Panthers came back and won 3 straight, giving them a 4-3 series victory.

The final game of the series is tomorrow. Once again, puck drops at 8:00 so I probably won't make it through all three periods. But gaddamnit, if the Bruins throw away their playoff chances again this season, I'm gonna be pissed.

I have a new computer, which is nice, but there is one problem - I have to reteach the email reader what is junk and what isn't junk.

As a result, my inbox is being filled with crap from "renewal by anderson", my best friend "Don Trump" looking for money, "FBI agents" with bad english skills threatening me with arrest unless I send them an apple gift card, etc...

Unfortunately, a notice from my financial guy ended up in junk and I inadvertantly deleted it.

On the upside, I once again have a machine that is powerful enough to run the software I want it to run.

The heck with Aaron Judge and Mike Trout. MLB needs to make Shota Imanaga the face of baseball

He gives honest, clear answers to every question he is asked, he can pitch better than almost everyone else in the league and he should have been a Red Sox but ownership was too cheap to make him a decent offer.

I picked up a new garden trailer for my lawn tractor because there will be a lot of mulch delivered to my house in the near future and I don't feel like distributing it with a wheelbarrow.

I used to have a trailer but the body rusted out and I had to get rid of it several years ago. The new one has a poly body that should last longer than I will be alive.

At 10 cubic feet, I should be able to move mulch all over the place without messing up my back.

The Red Sox are in Minneapolis where they will start a three game series against the Twins. Tonights game will played at 8:00 but Saturday and Sunday games will be at 2:00 in the afternoon.

While I'm waiting for the Boston Red Sox game to start, I'm watching Bobby Dalbec and Enmanual Valdez play baseball with the Worcester Red Sox on NESN+
