Another loss

The Bruins led for the first period, the Penguins tied it up in the second period and they scored the winning goal in the third period.

There was one interesting item that was actually kinda funny. While sitting on the bench, Zadarov took his stick and poked Malkin in the butt. Malkin then took his stick and smacked Zadarov in the helmet.

Apparently the National Hockey League frowns upon that sort of behavior.

So anyways, despite losing on a regular basis and being at .500, the Bruins are still only 4 points behind the division leaders, the Panthers.

They take on the Canadiens tomorrow. Puck drops at 3:00.

In case you are interested, no, the Red Sox have not signed any pitchers even though they are in need of pitchers.

Pitchers and catchers report in about 75 days...

I'm still digesting

If anyone would like sme leftover turkey, let me know. We have plenty...

Oh, and if you ever need anyone to make fresh whipped cream to top a pie, ask someone other than me.

Apparently I have no concept of what a teaspoon is and I put in waaaaayyyy to much sugar. It was a bit sweet. It was good, but really sweet.

Someone keps blowing up electrical transformers in my neighborhood.

Two weeks ago, there was a loud explosion and the street behind me went dark. I pulled up the National Grid outage map and it showed 10 or 12 houses without power in my neighborhood.

This morning, around 7:00am, there was a loud explosion and the street behind me went dark. Once again, I pulled up the National Grid outage map and it looked like at least 5 houses lost power in my neighborhood.

I don't know who is running some huge piece of electrical machinery in their house but they should stop because it's probably starting to piss off the neighbors.

Maybe Pat has moved over there and he keeps plugging in his beast of a computer...

Time once again for an update on what moves the Red Sox have made during the off season:
On November 14th, the Red Sox signed a free agent named Justin Wilson.

Sorry about that

I clean forgot about posting anything last night and when I finally got around to remembering, it was almost 8:30. I just didn't have the gumption to read any news.

So today is a new day and I still don't have any gumption to read the news.

I did find out that there is supposedly some kind of ceasefire in the middle east. I seem to recall Jimmy Carter announcing some kind of ceasefire back in the 70s and that didn't last very long. I strongly suspect this alleged "ceasefire" isn't going to last very long either.

Those people have been at war with themselves for more than 2,000 years and I've seen nothing that indicates things will change anytime soon.

The Bruins lost again last night.

The Canucks beat them 2-0.

The operative score in that prior statement is "0".

The Bruins couldn't put the puck in the net to save their lives.

They take on the Islanders this evening. Puck drops at 7:30

There are no leaves on my lawn

I decided to run the gas out of my lawn mower by using it to pick up all the leaves that have blown into my yard from my neighbors yard.

There weren't too many of leaves so I didn't actually get to run all the gas out. That means I might have to do it again in the next few days because if there is one thing I know, leaving gas in a carburetor over the winter is not the best idea.

Time to check in on all the moves the Red Sox have made so far this ofseason:
On November 14th, the Red Sox signed a free agent named Justin Wilson.

I have never heard of him and I'm willing to bet that almost no one else has ever heard of him.

Patriots

The Patriots were in Miami to take on the Dolphins this afternoon and it couldn't have gone any worse for them.

At the half, the Dolphins were up 24-0.

At the end of the third period, the Dolphins were up 31-0.

At the end of the game, the Dolphins were up 34-15 which is more than enough to win the game and the Patriots got to take a long plane ride home.

By the way, I saw this tweeter thingee today and I think it is the best description of the Patriots this season:

I found this on the internets and it made me laugh.

Then, after I thought about it for a few minutes, I realized how true it was...

I think I'll watch the Eagles kick the crap out of the Rams.

They need another win

It will be nice to see the Bruins beat the Red Wings this evening.

I did nothing today. No putzing in the basement, no working in the garage, no coding on the computer.

Nothing. Zip. Nada.

Well, I did cook dinner but that was it.

I think I might have finally figured out this retirement thing...

A 1-0 win is better than a 0-1 loss

The Bruins managed to score a goal 12 minutes into the second period and then hold on till the end of the game to win it 1-0. They were feisty, they were full of energy and they didn't slack off at all. They played hard right up until the end of the game.

And to be honest with you, the score should have been 3-0. They lost one goal when Pastrnak lifted his stick above his shoulder to knock down the puck and then shot it into the net. I'm also pretty sure the puck crossed into the goal during a scrum in front of the net but the ref never called it a goal.

Anyways, they remain in fourth place in the division, 5 points behind the first place Maple leafs.

Next game is tomorrow against the Red Wings. Puck drops at 7:00pm.

I heard a great line on the news this morning. Two talking heads were chatting about Gaetz dropping out of contention for Attorney General and The Donalds new pick, Bondi.

One of them asked, "Do you think she'll be an easier confirmation than Gaetz?" and the other one replied,
"Well, she hasn't been accused of having sex with a minor yet so she's got that going for her!"
That was, in my opinion, one of the great lines of the week.

It also implies that we've reached a point in our society where we are willing to choose our leaders based on what major crimes they may, or may not, have committed...

Looks like Pat has decided on the components for his new machine and has made the purchase.

It's been several years since he and I put together his last machine so I'm looking forward to sitting down with him and building this new beast.

First game without Monty

Tonight the Bruins will play the Utah Hockey Club and it will be their first game without Jim Montgomery as their coach.

According to everything I've read, the entire team pretty much blames themselves for his firing and they are upset he's gone. That means they are either going to play like a bunch of unhappy 10 year old kids or they are going to come out on fire, ready to kick ass and score goals.

I'm hoping it's the second thing.

Puck drops at 7:00.

We finally got some much needed rain. Problem is, I'm pretty sure it all ran off our lawns into the street and down the storm drains because the ground is so dry, it's like concrete.

Prior to todays rain, this is what our drought status was:

Hopefully some of the rain got absorbed and that picture changes next week.

What the hell is wrong with our world that we are now locking up parents who let their kids be kids?

If this kind of shit was going on when I was a kid, every parent I knew would be in jail. Hell, when I was 10 years old, I would ride my bike from our house in Wilbraham to my old neighborhood in Springfield and hang out with my friends. I'm pretty sure my mom wasn't overjoyed that I did it but she told me to be responsible and safe.

So I was. I learned how to be responsible and safe. Well, maybe not all that responsible and just a little safe but I survived none-the-less.

We, as parents, also gave our kids a lot of freedom to be kids. They were allowed to go where they pleased. Granted, they were required to check in once they got there but there was no helicoptering going on. Besides, I'll be damned if I was going to drive my kids all over town. They could walk or ride their bikes, fer cripes sake.

Jesus, what the hell have we become where a mom who lets their kid go be a kid is considered negligent...

I'm waiting.

I keep waiting to turn on the news and discover that Matt "Check out these eyebrows!" Gaetz is out and Rudy "Four Seasons Total Landscaping" Giuliani is now The Donald's choice for Attorney General of the United States of America.

I mean, why not. If we're going to become a lawless nation, we might as well put a lunatic in charge of our federal law enforcement agencies.

Besides, The Donald loves people that are loyal to him and Giuliani is loyal to the point of being a sycophant. I always thought that Giuliani was Trumpees number one guy.

They didn't even come close

Last night, the Bruins lost 5-1 to the Blue Jackets.

Yes, the Bruins played like crap but also, the Blue Jackets goalie was astounding.

That guy made more amazing stops than I've seen a goalie make in a long time. The Bruins took twenty eight shots on goal and only one of them made it through.

So now they are back in sole posession of fourth place in the division with 19 points, 6 behind the division-leading Panthers.

Oh, and they are now also without a coach.

This coming Thursday, they will play the Utah Hockey Club. Puck drops at 7:00pm. Maybe the new guy will inspire them to play better.

Not much else to prattle on about so enjoy these links:

They could use a win

The Bruins take on the Blue Jackets this evening and a win would be a good thing.

The Lightning have won two in a row and moved into a tie with the Bruins in third place. And since the Bruins have fewer total goals, they are listed as being in fourth place.

Today was lunch with the boys and once again, we solved all of the worlds problems.

I'm telling you, if the United States Government were to put us four in charge for just a few days, we could have everything all fixed and running smooth as a baby's butt.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it...

I've avoided this but after reading this story, I need to spew.

I won't vote for a democrat simply because democrats don't give a shit about me. They are so afraid of hurting someone's feelings, they don't want to hear about what I want.

They are concerned about the people flooding across our border but they don't care about the rapists, murderers, drug dealers, etc... coming in with them.

They are so concerned about "needs of the downtrodden" that they don't give a shit about the 100% increase in weekly grocery prices I have to pay.

They are so concerned about global warming that they don't care about the massive increases in heating costs I have to pay just as winter starts.

I don't vote for democrats because the democrats don't care about me.

They are more concerned about providing gender-changing surgery to a convicted criminal than they are about they are about my rising cost of health insurance.

They are more concerned about not insulting people than they are about the criminally-high cost of housing.

They are more concerned about defunding the police than they are about providing safe neighborhoods.

They are absolutely more concerned about taking away my firearms than they are about locking up criminally-insane people who are likely to commit murder.

A loss for the Patriots.

They actually played pretty well today and I thought they might stand a chance but it wasn't to be.

The Rams beat the Patriots 28-22 this afternoon, pushing the Patriots back to 3-8 and tied with the Jets for last place in the AFCEast.

I thought Maye played well and he controlled the game as best he could. The offensive line seemed to be at least equal to the task and they gave Maye the time he needed.

Next week they'll be down in Florida to take on the Dolphins. Kickoff is at 1:00 and CBS will carry the game.

In other sports, Korda won the Annika Open this afternoon.

Missed it by that much...

The Bruins had a 2-1 lead through the first and second periods but the Blues decided to tie the game 2-2 in the third, forcing a sudden-death OT period.

That was when the Blues scored and won the game 3-2.

The only thing I'm going to say about the Bruins is they could have, and they should have, played a lot better than they did.

Next game is Monday against the Blue Jackets. Puck drops at 7:00pm.

The Bruins once again played like crap last night and they got beat 7-2 by the Stars.

This is not going to end well.

Okay, who had "Matt 'I like little girls' Gaetz as Attorney General" and "Robert 'Vaccinations are bad!' Kennedy as Head of Health & Human Services" on your "We are all screwed" bingo card?

Oh, and wait until Elon 'Aspergers is fun!' Musk starts cutting vital services because he doesn't understand why anyone would need help with anything.

I have genuine concerns about the next four years.

And speaking about "getting screwed", our wonderful governor sued Trump over 100 times when he was in office last time and now she's saying she will defy him at almost every turn.

That means our state will probably feel the brunt of Trumps anger/displeasure every chance he gets.

She was convinced that Harris was going to win and appoint her as US Attorney General. Now she's going to behave like a spoiled brat.

I think we're about to see what hapens when two spoiled brats start throwing temper tantrums. And I also think there are probably going to be a lot of temper tantrums.

I'm going to try and find some entertainment and then fall asleep.

Holy crap, they won!

When I went to bed last night it was the end of the second period and the Bruins were down 2-0. They were also playing like crap.

When I woke up this morning, the game was over with and the Bruins had won 3-2.

I was shocked. I figured sure as hell I would find out they lost when I woke up this morning.

As things stand right now, they have a .529 record and are in third place in the division, only five points behind the Panthers.

Tomorrow they take on the Stars. Puck drops at 8:00 so once again, the chances I stay awake to watch the entire game are slim at best.

My lawn is covered with leaves.

"But Steve", I hear you say, "You just did your lawn the other day! And your next-door neighbors lawn too!" What happened?"

I'll tell you what happened. The one guy across the street that did not clear his lawn now has no leaves on his lawn. Not because he cleared them but because they all blew across the street onto my lawn and my next-door neighbors lawn. That's what happened...

I've decided I'm leaving them there in the hopes that the wind direction changes and they all blow back onto his lawn.

And this is why they are losing

Several days ago, Massachusetts Congressman Seth Moulton was interviewed by the New York Times.

Moulton, a Massachusetts democrat and the Times, a liberal-leaning newspaper, are perfect for each other so you would think the interview would have been all sunshine, roses, butterflies and unicorns.

And for the most part, it was.

Yes sir, it was all good right up until Moulton said, "I have two little girls, I don’t want them getting run over on a playing field by a male or formerly male athlete, but as a Democrat I’m supposed to be afraid to say that."

This caused all the other democrats to scream, "Those are hateful comments!" and to call for Moulton's resignation. The head of the Massachusetts Democratic Party went so far as to say that Moulton's comments "do not represent the broad view of our party".

Oh, and Moulton also said something along the lines of 'The republicans may ban books but the democrats ban debate'. I'm not a fan of book burning for any reason but I'm even less of a fan of oppression of speech.

You know what I think? I think Seth Moulton is a good dad. I think that if he ever runs for an office that appears on one of my election day ballots, I'm voting for him.

I think that anyone who thinks that it's okay for a 17 year old male/formerly male to play field hockey/soccer/basketball against a 17 year old female needs to have their head examined. Or maybe they need to go one round in a ring with Mike Tyson so they learn what a larger, stronger person can do to a smaller, weaker person.

I also think that the Democrats are eating their own in an attempt to ignore the fact they are losing in all political arenas. If they keep going the way they are going, that political party will one day hold the same political influence as the so-called "Green Party".

On another note, I will never forget a meeting I was in back in the late 1990s. When asked about the policy changes being made by HR regarding how we were suppossed to treat each other, she said, "They're taking away my god-given right to be a bigot"

The more things you call "hate speech", the more people you make hate you...

Yes, there is hockey this evening.

Yes, I will be watching hockey this evening.

Hopefully I will be watching the Bruins beat the Blues this evening.

Since the game starts at 8:00, what I'm pretty sure is not going to happen is that I will stay awake long enough to watch all three periods of play this evening.

Jamie Lee Curtis, Joan Jett, Vanna White, Michelle Pfeiffer, Alec Baldwin, Gary Oldman, Ice-T and I are all the same age.

Man, I look like shit compared to those people.

Then again, Andy Gibb, Michael Jackson and Billy Mays were all born around the same time as me and they're dead so I guess I got that going for me.

Just for the hell of it I checked the NFL standings and I'm pleased to announce that while the Patriots are still in last place in the AFC East, they are no longer in last place in the league.

That honor goes to the New York Giants.

A loss and two wins.

The Bruins lost 3-2 in OT to the Senators last night. I don't want to say they played poorly but I will say that the Bruins had exactly zero shots on goal during the entire third period.

Wayne Gretzky, a pretty damned good hockey player, once said, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take"...

They at least picked up one point for the tie in regulation but the win would have been nicer.

They are off for two days and on the 12th, they will be in St. Louis to play the Blues. Puck drops at 8:00pm eastern time

The Patriots played football today. And when I say they played football, I mean every part of the team played football.

The offensive line gave Maye the time to make nice passes. They also poked holes in the Bears defensive line to let runners cover some ground and gain yards.

The defensive line was also making it hard for the Bears. They sacked the Bears quarterback at least eight or nine times plus there were numerous tackles for a loss.

In the end, the Patriots won, beating the Bears 19-3.

Next week they welcome the Rams into Gillette. Kick off is at 1:00pm.

Oh, and my other team, the Steelers, beat the Commanders 28-27 this afternoon so it was a pretty good day for me.

My wife cleaned out her gardens and I manged to not only get my yard cleaned, I also got my neighbors yard cleaned.

My neighbor is an old guy who has someone take care of his lawn. They showed up on Wednesday to do the final year-end cleanup of his yard. Unfortunately, the houses across the street from us had not done their leaves and the prevailing winds blew all their leaves into our yards.

Well, one guy got his yard done yesterday and another guy got his yard done two days ago. The guy across the street from me cleared his back yard and his side yard but he left his front yard covered. Seems kinda foolish to me but I guess he's just that kind of guy...

Anyways, since the majority of the neighbors cleaned their yards, I decided it was time to do ours again.

Oh, and I have an alternative reason for doing my neighbors yard. It's not just because he's old. It's also because if his yard is full of leaves, they will absolutely blow all over my yard.

Hopefully the winds are in my favor and the leaves stay away from my yard.

Lazy day

My yard was spotless on Thursday but since my neighbors across the street haven't done their leaves yet, it is now covered with leaves again.

Tomorrow I will clean both my yard and my next door neighbors. His lawn guy did his final cleanup last week and won't be coming back. Since my neighbor is in his mid-80s, I don't want him out there hauling leaves.

As for today, it was clean the house day. And that included the basement.

Since we aren't slobs, it doesn't take us all day. We were done by noon and I immediately went into lazy mode.

The Bruins are taking on the Senators this evening so I have entertainment.

It would be nice to see them win and get back above .500

I noticed this afternoon that I can smell the smoke from all the brush fires in this part of the world.

Fortunately for me, none of them are closer than a few miles from my house and I'm pretty sure the one that is close has been extinguished.

Anyone that decides they need to use their fire pit, or light their tiki-torches, or anything else that burns, should be arrested and put in jail for a while.

They won!

The Bruins had a lead through most the the three periods but the Flames managed to tie the game 3-3 in the third. This put them into the five minute sudden death overtime period.

With only 20 seconds left in the OT period, the Bruins scored and won the game 4-3.

They remain in 4th place in the division but that win puts them back to .500 and gives them 15 points, which is 6 points behind the conference-leading Panthers and 10 points behing the league-leading Jets.

Their next game is tomorrow against the Senators. Puck drops at 7:00.

The DJIA is up more than 4% on the week.

It is finally over.

Looks like Daffy Donald has won a second stint in the White House and now the fun begins.

As I've always said, I don't like either one of the parties and I would be equally unhappy with either candidate. The one thing I am pretty sure of is that I can count on Trump screwing things up really good. He'll go through at least five Chiefs of Staff, six or seven Defense Secretaries and God only knows how many Attorneys General.

I wonder if he's gonna pardon himself?

Oh, and this time, he won't have to worry about all those pesky impeachment things because the Senate and the House are both going to be republican as well.

The democrats should really take a good hard look at their strategies and policies because they suck. This election should be known as the "democrat massacre" because they got their asses kicked on all fronts. And deservedly so...

As for the Massachusetts ballot, Richie "Shore-and-begora, I love Ireland! Hi-Dee-Di-Dee-Di-Dee" Neal got himself reelected to his 18th term in congress which, in my opinion, is 14 terms too many.

He has been in that office for 36 years and he'll be there for at least another 2 years.

And speaking of people who need to find a new job, Lizzy "I'm gonna get me, uummmmmm, a beer!" Warren has been reelected to a 3rd term in the senate which is 2 terms too many.

Why are people so afraid to put new people in office? People that have actually had to deal with life in a world outside of the government bubble. People that know what it's like to earn a paycheck, pay taxes, pay insurance premiums, etc... People that know the actual cost of a pound of beef, a gallon of milk and a loaf of bread. People who don't have "insider" knowledge of what new regulations will be implimented that will impact their stock values?

Speaking of the stock market, looks like the finaincial markets are very happy with a Trump victory:

For those of you that don't know, three and a half percent is a lot of percents. Like a "holy shit!" lot of percents.

And yes, I know, it will probably crash tomorrow but I'm going to enjoy while I can.

The Bruins decided that a two-game winning streak was enough and they lost last night.

The Maple Leafs beat them 4-0 and pushed them back below .500 in the standings.

The currently have 13 points which puts them right in the middle of the pack at 4th place in the division.

Their next game is tomorrow against the Flames. Puck drops at 7:00pm.

Let the spam continue...

My junk mail folder is still being molested by the republicans.

Yes, there is a bunch of other stuff in there but 7 of the 23 are from something called the NRSC which I think might stand for the Nazi Republican Scumbag Committee or something like that.

I remember when the members of the republican party had balls. Now all they do is swoon over Trump and look for ways to gain his approval.

If Trump gets elected, I want to remind every holder of a government office, including the military and law enforcement, that you took an oath to uphold the constitution and to only obey lawful orders from your superior officers. You did not swear loyalty to a person and you did not swear fealty to a king.

If Harris gets elected, I want to remind every elected official that working for a living does not mean we want to support those folks that do not wish to support themselves. And the quote from the poem "New Colossus by Lazarus does not mention criminals, layabouts and drug dealers.

The Cuban government got the power back on just in time for the next hurricane to hit...

They won!

The Bruins are two games into my requested ten-game winning streak!

They beat the Kraken 2-0 yesterday evening and since the game started at 5:00, I was able to watch the entire thing.

That win put them back at .500 and moved them up to 4th place in the division & 8th place in the conference which means they are moving in the right direction.

Tomorrow they face-off against the Maple Leafs. Puck drops at 7:00.

I'm hoping I've overcome the time change thing by then and I can stay awake long enough to watch the entire game...

We have one more (maybe two more) days of this election bullshit to put up with. My inbox is being gang-raped by the republican party spamming me in the hopes that their incessant lies will make me say, "Oh! Look at that! That is great! I'll vote for them!"

The democrats, on the other hand, apparently never got their grubby little hands on my email address so they aren't spamming me via email. They're just flooding my television with uninteresting commercials.

I'm still pissed that the best the republicans can come up with is Trump and the best the democrats can come up with is Harris.

I was wrong

We had to go to a wake this afternoon so I missed the first half of the Patriots / Titans game.

Yesterday when I said it was either going to be a high-scoring game or one team was going to win 3-0, I was wrong.

The game ended in a 17-17 tie and went into overtime.

Unfortunately, the Patriots couldn't overcome and the Titans won 20-17.

Next Sunday they take on the Bears. Kick-off is at 1:00pm.

The Bruins face the Kraken this evening and I might watch some of that game.

That means I'm done with writing.

They must have gotten yelled at

The Bruins beat the Flyers this afternoon and from what I saw, they must have gotten their asses kicked by their coaches before taking the ice.

They came out and played a good first period, a "meh" second period and an excellent third period. As a matter of fact, there were at least two full-on brawls during the third period that resulted in penalty minutes for both teams. The Flyers managed to get a power play for the last 50 seconds of the game but it didn't help them at all.

In the end, the Bruins shutout the Flyers 3-0.

Tomorrow they take on the Kraken. Puck drops at 5:00pm.

It looks like Maye will be starting tomorrow's game against the Titans.

I'll point out that the Titans have a worse record than the Patriots. The Patriots are in second-to-last place in the AFL and the Titans are in last place in the AFL.

That means it's either going to be a high-scoring game or someone will win 3-0...

He really has a thing about crowds...

Bobby Dalbec is no longer a member of the Boston Red Sox organization. He elected free agency this morning.

Hopefully he finds himself on team that gives him playing time at the big league level and he becomes succesful again. I think he just needs a hitting coach that can get him back to the level he hit during his rookie season.

I need to find some entertainment for this evening.

While I do that, you can check out these links:

They suck

I said it before and I'll say it again, the Bruins are playing like a big old steamy pile of cow shit.

The Hurricanes handed the Bruins a beat down for the ages last, winning the game 8-2 and leaveing the Bruins firmly in last place in the division.

The media have begun calling for Montgomery's head and I really hope ownership doesn't take that step. I think Monty is a pretty good coach.

I think they need to start playing like they mean it. They need to start looking up before they pass the puck, they need to start taking shots on the goal instead of trying to pass it off and they need to stop taking so many penalty minutes.

We had around 25-30 kids show up at our house asking for candy and I gotta tell ya, we had some very little kids.

Kids like Calvin who can't be more than 2 years old. I gave him two candy bars even though he didn't say trick or treat. As a matter of fact, he didn't say anything at all. His mom and dad did all the talking which is how I know his name is Calvin

Then there was the young lady who was probably 4 years old and did not stop talking.

Not only did she say trick or treat, she told me all about her costume, what the people across the street were giving out, why her brother didn't say trick or treat, what her favorite candy is and what her dog was doing. Then she showed off her lion costume by roaring as loud as she could.

We had some teenagers and they were all good kids. I have no problem with teenage trick-or-treaters. If they are ringing my doorbell and are dressed in a costume, they are out having a good time instead of out causing trouble.

We have quite a bit of candy left but I'm pretty sure I'll be able to take care of it. In other words, it was a successful Halloween.
