Oops, I forgot.

I was not too busy or otherwise occupied, I simply forgot.

Now it's late so this is all you get.

The Red Sox won their final game against the Pirates this afternoon.

What amazes me is that they are only half a game behind the Judges and only 3½ games behind the Blue Jays.

Tomorrow they start a 3-game series against the Guardians. I have no idea who the starter will be. I don't Cora has any idea who the starter will be.

Tomorrow there will be links.

A loss that stings

The Red Sox lost to the Pirates last night. And with that loss, they have dropped half a game below Judges in the ALEast.

On the upside, Tolle is a hell of a pitcher, throwing 98mph fastballs with some pretty damned good control. I'm hoping that spending time working with Bailey will have Tolle looking even better as the weeks go on.

Today's game started at 4:10 and May was the starter.

He did not pitch well...

Right now it is the 8th inning and the Pirates are up 9-3.

It might be time...

If no one hits it tonight, I'll probably think about maybe, possibly, buying a ticket.

This made me laugh.

Just to be clear, the bald psycho who didn't comb his hair over his head is Charles Manson. The other bald psycho who does comb his hair over his head is The Very Stable Genius.

Quick trip

Thursday was busy for me because I had things that needed doing.

Today was busy for me because at 7:00 this morning, I met up with my sister and my cousin at Westfield-Barnes airfield where we boarded my cousins plane. At 7:45, we took off for Pittsburgh to attend our uncles funeral.

After landing at 9:15 and collecting a rental car, we made it to the funeral home just in time to help our aunts into the funeral home while our Pittsburgh cousins parked their cars. We spent the day at my uncles funeral and then hanging out with our numerous cousins and aunts.

At 2:00, we headed back to the airport where at 3:00, we boarded the plane and took off for home. At 3:50, we were back on the ground in Westfield.

The worst part of the trip was a traffic jam in Ludlow due to the closed West St. bridge.

It's nice to have a generous cousin with his own jet.

The Red Sox released Walker Buehler today and as far as I'm concerned, it was time.

He wasn't pitching well. Not well at all, and there were kids down in Worcester who can probably do more to help the Red Sox win than Buehler could.

Which leads to the news that the Red Sox have called up Payton Tolle for his MLB debut tonight.

Now I can't say I know a lot about Tolle but I do know that the media has been hyping him up like he was the second coming and I think that sucks.

This kid is about to pitch his first major league baseball game and the last thing he needs is to have ridiculous expectations heaped on him by a media .

He'll do what he can do. My expectations are that he at least pitch better than Buehler.

It's late and I'm watching baseball.

Limited posting

I have a busy few days so posting is limited.

I did manage to pay attention to the Red Sox as they completed their 4-game sweep of the Orioles, beating them 3-2 this afternoon.

Since the Blue Jays were off today, the Red Sox managed to pick up half a game on them and they are now 3½ games behind.

Now all that needs to happen is for a miracle to occur and we see worst team in the American League, the White Sox, beat the Judges tonight.

The Red Sox are heading home where tomorrow they will start a 3-game series against the Pirates.

Excellent win last night

The Red Sox beat the Orioles 5-0 and the Blue Jays lost to the Twins. This means the Red Sox picked up a game on the Blue Jays and are now only 4 games behind them.

Giolito went 8 innings and Wilson came out to close. That means that the bullpen is rested and Chapman is available to close tonight.

Hopefully Bello has an excellent start and the hitters are ready to move the runners along.

First pitch is at 6:35pm.

Family stuff

My last uncle passed away the other day. He was 95 years old and he was my friend.

Marino was one of the funniest guys I knew and he always made me laugh. He was also a very intelligent guy and a writer of some merit.

He was a sports writer for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, he was a friend to Arnold Palmer writing the preamble to several books on Palmer, and he received recognition from the USGA, the PGA and The Masters for his contributions to the game of golf.

He couldn't golf for shit but he sure knew how to write about it.

I will miss him.

The Red Sox took an early 1-0 lead in the 1st, lost it in the 3rd and took it back in the 5th. They never gave it up again and they won 4-3.

Unfortunately, the Judges and the Blue Jays also both won so there is no change in the standings.

There was a bad thing last night and that is that Fitts had to leave the game with some kind of injury to his throwing arm. He is currently listed as day-to-day.

Today has Giolito on the mound. First pitch is at 6:35.

No sweep

The Red Sox lost 7-2 last night and the Judges were all acting like they had just won the world series. I wanted someone to yell out, "Hey boneheads, try not to be so proud of yourselves because one out of four kinda sucks!"

So as things stand right now, the Red Sox are half a game ahead of the Judges and 5 games behind the Blue Jays.

Tonight's game against the Orioles features no starting pitcher. Instead Cora has opted to go with Bernardino as an opener.

If Bernardino can give them three innings and then Fitts give them another three, that leaves only three innings for the bullpen to close out.

First pitch is at 6:45.

I'm hoping for a sweep

Tonight is the 4th game of the Red Sox 4-game series against the Judges and I'm hoping the Red Sox sweep them.

Personally, I have nothing against the American League team from New York City but since ESPN is carrying the game tonight, it's a pretty good bet that we are going to hear over and over again about how great Judge is and how strong Stanton is and how Volpe is the next Jeter.

I need the Red Sox to win just to shut up the ESPN announcers.

Well, that and so the Red Sox take a 2½ game lead over the Judges and move to within 4 games of the Blue Jays but mostly to make Eduardo Perez shut the f' up.

In other Red Sox news, Abraham Toro has decided to stay with the organization.

This brought a smile to my face.

Nope, not high enough for me to spend $2.00 on a ticket.

I'll wait until it gets over a billion.

Two more wins

Last night, the Red Sox managed to score 1 more run than the Judges, beating them 1-0.

Today they more than made up for their limited runs by scoring 12 runs and beating the Judges 12-1.

As things stand right now, the Red Sox are 1½ games ahead of the Judges and 4½ behind the Blue Jays in the ALEast.

They have one more game against the Judges tomorrow and May has the start.

The game will be on ESPN so coverage will suck and the game probably won't start until 7:30 or so.

After baseball, it was the CPKC Women's Open golf tournament and man, those people can play golf.

The course looks to be in spectacular shape, the golfers are hitting the fairways and making the greens in regulation and the leaderboard is fairly tight.

But that isn't what impresses me the most.

Take a look at this leaderboard:

If you look at the third name down on the list you will see that she has a (a) after her name. That (a) is because she is an amatuer.

Let me just point out that Aphrodite Deng is from Canada, she is 15 years old and she plays golf way better than I do.

Game one is behind them

Because FOX doesn't like baseball games to start on time, I didn't make it through all nine innings last night. I did, however, learn that the Red Sox managed to beat the Judges 6-4 last night.

Here are some observations:
The FOX network opened with a full three minutes on how Judge is the best thing that ever happened to baseball and he was probably going to hit one hundred home runs during the game.

Lucas Giolito knows how to strike Judge out.

Giving a contract to Lowe is one of the many smart things Breslow has done. Lowe knows how to hit doubles and move runners along.

The Judges are not as good as the FOX network would have you believe.

Signing Anthony to a 10 year contract is another smart thing that Breslow has done.

With last nights win, the Red Sox are now half a game behind the Judges and still only five games behind the Blue Jays.
They need the Blue Jays to go on a losing streak...

Tonight has Bello on the mound. First pitch is at 7:10 and thankfully, NESN is carrying the game.

Also, Jhostynxon Garcia will make his MLB debut in center field tonight. I hope he brought his hitting skills with him from Worcester...

Of course it's driven by Trump retribution.

I'm not saying it's wrong. No sir, not wrong at all. As a mater of fact I believe Bolton has proven himself to be kind of a slimeball over the years who probably should have been investigated when he was Trumps National Security Advisor.

But please, do not lie to me about what is driving this investigation.

This has Trumps stumpy orange fingers all over it. This is Trump all the way.

As I guessed, the Patriots did not play any of their starters last night and they lost.

The Giants beat them 42-10 and I am not surprised at all.

For the next few weeks, they work on their tradecraft and continue to get better. At 1:00pm on Sunday, September 7th, they will open their season at home against the Raiders.

Changes are afoot

The Red Sox have DFA'd Abraham Toro. No word on if he opted to go to Worcester or if he opted for free agency. They have also put Willyer Abreu on the 10-day IL because of calf tightness.

They have called David Hamilton & Richard Fitts back up and in a surprise move, they have called up Jhostynxon Garcia, aka "The Password".

My guess is that Fitts will step into the bullpen to become a long relief guy who is good at what he does. I'm assuming that Hamilton will give relief to Rafaela at 2nd base because Rafaela is a hell of a hitter when he plays the outfield but when he's at 2nd, his hitting kinda sucks.

As for Garcia, I'm thinking they are seeing what he has been doing in Worcester (crushing home runs) and they feel like he will be successful in the majors.

No matter what happens with the call-ups, the Red Sox need to get their shit together. They have fallen 1½ games behind the Judges.

Tonight's game starts at 7:15 but since it's on FOX, it will probably start at 7:30. Giolito has the start and I'm hoping he gives the Judges fits. If he can keep their bats quiet, hopefully the Red Sox can hit the ball and move the runners along.

I finally got around to mowing my lawn today. It's been at least a 10 days since I mowed it and with the sprinkler system, it showed.

Normally, I empty the collection bags once for the back, twice for the side and twice for the front. Today I had to empty the collection bags twice for the rear, three times for the side and four times for the front.

That's a lot of grass.

So anyways, other than the weeds poking out all over the place, it looks pretty good.

The Patriots final pre-season game is this evening and I don't think any of the first line players will play. At least I hope they don't play. The last thing they need two weeks before the start of the season is an injury to Maye or Henry or Diggs or any of the firt line.

Since the game is being streamed on Prime, which I have, I might watch some of it. Unless the Red Sox are kicking the Judges ass. In that case I'll just watch baseball.

Anyways, the kickoff is at 8:00.

And another loss.

Once again, the Red Sox batters aren't hitting the freakin' ball when they need to and they lost to the Orioles 4-3 last night.

The best example was in the eighth inning. They had the bases loaded and no outs. Then Duran, Story and Yoshida all struck out to end the inning, leaving the bases loaded.

They really need to get it together because starting tomorrow they have a four-game series against the Judges.

After their loss last night, they are now a game behind the Judges in the wild card.

Not much going on today. Even The Very Stable Genius has been quiet.

They should not have lost

I thought May did a pretty good job on the mound but the batters just couldn't seem to score any runs. In the end, the Orioles beat the Red Sox 6-3. The bad news is now the Red Sox and Judges are tied in the wild card race.

The good news is that since the Blue Jays lost nght night, they didn't lose any ground to them in the ALEast.

Tonight has Buelher on the mound. First pitch is at 7:10. Fingers are crossed for a win.

The political cartoonists are having a field day with the open-mic comment made by The Very Stable Genius the other day.

I had lunch with the boys this afternoon and once again, we have solved all of the worlds problems.

Well, almost all of them.

We can't figure out what to do about the housing market. At one point, we decided that there needs to be enforcement of the various property zones, particularly residential. No one should be allowed to purchase a house in a residential zone if they are buying it for the sole purpose of renting it out. That is a business and should not be allowed in a residential zone.

We figured that would be one way to stop the giant corporations from buying all the houses just to turn around and rent them out for a nice profit. That is a major cause of the housing shortage and is one of the big reasons for the price increases.

They need a sweep

The Red Sox need to win both of these upcoming games.

May has the start and the first pitch is at 7:10.

In other Red Sox news, the Red Sox have signed a guy named Lowe. He was DFA'd by the Nationals several days ago because they had a guy come back from the DL and they needed to make room on their roster.

The upside is he is a decent first baseman who can also hit. And the Red Sox need a decent first baseman who can hit.

Hopefully this works out for both Lowe and the Red Sox.

Erin is still chugging along in the Atlantic and it looks like the east coast is okay. Although the Cape and Islands might get a bit windy and damp on Thursday night.

The Very Stable Genius and Zelenskyy had another meeting today and apparently Trump did not once mention Zelenskyy's lack of "cards".

A win and a loss

The Red Sox won last night, beating the Marlins 7-5.

The Red Sox lost this afternoon, getting beat by the Marlins 5-3.

This all stems from the fact that the only reason the Red Sox won last night is because Cora pulled the closing pitcher, Campbell, and put Chapman in save the game before Campbell gave it away.

The reason they lost this afternoon is because Chapman was unavailable and the bullpen pissed away a 3-1 lead.

Since the Judges won this afternoon, they closed the gap between them and the Red Sox in the wild card. The Red Sox are now only half a game ahead of the Judges.

In other not-good Red Sox news, Mayer is out for the rest of the season.

Tomorrow the Red Sox start a 2-game series against the Orioles. They better win both games...

Three sports kind of day

Up first were the Patriots at 1:00 this afternoon.

They were in Minnesota to play the Vikings and they managed to win 20-12. I'm really liking this team and I am predicting that as long as they can stay healthy, they will play more than 17 games this season.

The Red Sox and the Marlins played at 4:00 this afternoon and as I post this, it is the 7th inning and the score is 7-2 in favor of the Red Sox

As for last night, the Red Sox won it 2-1 in the ninth when the Marlins pitcher walked the bases loaded and Story hit a single that drove in the winning run.

This evening, The Golf Channel will carry the LPGA Standard Portland Classic and that is what I will be watching.

I love a three sports kind of day...

I watched the news conference put on by Putin and Trump last night and I'd like to tell you that after seven months in office, The Very Stable Genius managed to finally do what he said he would do in 24 hours but I can't.

Psycho Vlad and DonnyBoy came out of their meeting with vastly different stories.

Putin said agreements had been reached and Trump said there was still work to do.

Putin said he was pleased with the way things went and Trump said the next step would be to have a meeting with all parties to finalize things.

What I got out of it was Putin told Trump to pound sand, he was going to do what he wanted to do and Trump said "OkeeDokie Vlad! Whatever you want to do!" because he doesn't want to upset his BFF and fellow dictator. Then he came out and said there was still things to do.

Maybe one day things will settle down but I'm pretty sure it won't be because of anything Trump did. It will be because Putin finally wears down the Ukrainian army, blows up enough churches, schools & hospitals and solidifies his hold on the parts of Ukraine he wants to add to Russia.

As long as no one farts too loudly or sneezes too much, it looks like Hurricane Erin is going to miss us.

They need to sweep

The Marlins are in Boston to start a 3-game series against the Red Sox this evening. Giolito has the start and I'm really hoping he is over whatever small control issue he ran into during his last outing.

I would really like to see the Red Sox take all three games against the Marlins. That would, at the very least, move them further ahead of the Judges and maybe even pick up a game or two on the Blue Jays.

The other day I set up a camera next to my hummingbird feeder and got a picture of this little lady:

And they lost.

The Astros beat the Red Sox 4-1 last night and I can honestly say it wasn't entirely Buehlers fault.

Yes, he gave up all four of the Astro's runs but he did so over 6 innings.

The batters were just as at fault for this loss, if not more. They left a lot of runners on base, including one inning where the bases were loaded and there were no outs but they couldn't score a run.

Fortunately, the Judges and the Blue Jays also lost so the standings in the ALEast remain the same. Unfortunately, the Judges and the Blue Jays lost so if the damned Red Sox had won, they would have moved up in the standings.

No game for either the Red Sox or the Judges tonight but the Blue Jays are currently up 2-1 over the Cubs.

Maybe I'll watch some Little League World Series. The team from Braintree, Mass got beat hard by the team from Irmo, South Carolina but that's okay. It's little league.

The Very Stable Genius and Psycho Vlad will meet up in Alaska this Friday where Vlad will tell Trump anything he wants to hear and then return to Russia to do whatever he wants to do.

Trump will believe everything Putin tells him and when he walks out of the meeting, he will hold a press conference where he'll tell the world that Putin has agreed to do whatever Trump wants him to do. He will say something to the effect of, "No president in history has been able to do what I did. This is a yuuuge deal. We'll call it the Trump Peace Plan."

Putin will continue blowing up Ukrainian hospitals and schools.

This, of course, is just my wild guess about what will happen. I've been wrong before and I'll be wrong in the future. But the big problem here, as I see it, is there is a very good chance I am right about this.

Rumor has it this was a recruiter who was taking a back seat "incentive" ride in an F-15 when the ejection seat "accidentally" went off, tossing him out of the aircraft.

The cost of an ACES II ejection system, which is what is installed in the F-15D, is classified but estimates put it well above $100,000. On article I read used the sentence "hundreds of thousands per seat".

I wonder who is going to pay for that...

Very nice win

When I went to bed in the 4th inning, the Red Sox were up 2-0. When I woke up at 4:00 this morning, I discovered that the Red Sox had beaten the Astros 14-1.

May, the guy who had such a poor showing his first time out for the Red Sox last week suddenly looked like the hero they needed. He faced 24 batters over 6 innings, giving up 5 hits, 1 walk, 0 hits and striking out 8. That is a pretty good showing.

They remain in the second wild card slot. If they win tonight, the Mariners will take over the ALWest, the Astros will take the first wild card slot and the Red Sox will be second.

The Judges have decided to not go away without a fight and they also won last night.

Buehler has the start tonight. First pitch is at 7:10.

A guy who used to work for my wife has a son who works for the New England Patriots. Last weekend was "Family Weekend" at Gillete and his son took him to the stadium.

They keep on losing

The Red Sox lost to the Astros 6-7 last night, the Judges beat the twins and the Mariners didn't play. This means that in the wild card, the Judges are now only 1½ games behind the Red Sox and the Red Sox are 1½ games behind the Mariners..

They seem to lose by one run a lot and that needs to change. I wish I had an answer but I don't. I'd like to say, "Hey, they should bring Campbell back up to play first!" but that is a big gamble to take this close to the end of the season.

Tonight's game is once again at 8:10 and May has the start. Let's hope his last outing was just a bad dream and he will perform like a decent starting pitcher.

My son got sunburned the other day. I asked him this morning how it was going. This was our conversation:

Reasons don't matter

There are a couple of reasons why the federal government does not run the city of Washington D.C.
  1. The federal government already has a job and it does not include running a city.
  2. Back in 1973, Congress gave the residents of DC the right to elect their own leaders.
All of that is well and good but I'll be damned if I can find fault with The Very Stable Genius deciding that something needs to be done about the crime rate in that city.

The part of Washington DC known as "The Federal Triangle" is a beautiful place and it's filled with some of the most impressive memorials and buildings.

But the rest of the city is not what I would call a nice place.

What I do have a problem with is the idea of a "federalized police force". Sorta like the ones you see in a lot of those dictatorial countries like North Korea, China, etc...

Time for some baseball.

Hopefully Crochet is on his game tonight because they need to win.

The Blue Jays are off but the Judges are playing the Twins. Right now the Judges are up 3-1 in the 6th inning so the Red Sox need to win just to stay 2½ games ahead of the Judges.

Also, if the Red Sox win tonight, they'll pick up half a game on the Blue Jays.

One inning

I stayed awake long enough to watch one inning of baseball last night.

But before we get to that, let's take a look at the Patriots, shall we.

They beat the crap out of the Commanders last night 48-18. Hell, the Patriots were up 7-0 before Maye even got on the field.

The Commanders won the toss and opted to kick off. They kicked the ball to a guy named Henderson who proceeded to do his best Gale Sayers imitation and return the ball 100 yards for a touchdown.

At the half, the score was 27-3 Patriots. At that point, it was 9:30 and I changed the channel over to the Red Sox-Padres game.

During the only inning of baseball I watched, I was not pleased. Buehler looked "meh" at best and I full expected to wake up in the morning to find that the Red Sox had lost.

Boy, was I surprised to see that they had beaten the Padres 10-2 and Buehler had made it through 6 scoreless innings

I was further surprised to see that Murphy, who was an ace in relief the other night, had only made it through 6 batters, giving up 4 walks and 2 runs.

That win, along with the Judges and the Blue Jays loss, put the Red Sox firmly in the first wild card slot and only 3 games out of first place in the ALEast.

Giolito has the start tonight and first pitch is at 8:40. That means I might be able to watch three or four innings.

WooHoo!

Here are some links:

Friday, August 8, 2025

Yes, there is baseball tonight.

No, I won't be watching it.

Well, maybe the first inning but that's about it.

Because they are in San Diego, the game isn't on until 9:40 our time. There is no way I'll be awake for more than one or mayeb two innings.

Buehler has the start so I don't have high hopes for a win. Hell, I'll be happy if he makes it through 5 innings without imploding.

Fortunately for me, the Patriots kick off their preseason tonight at 7:30.

I'm really looking forward to see how this team does under Vrabel. And while Maye didn't actually play the entire season last year, he did take over for the last 10 or so games and I for one was pretty impressed.

I'm hoping for a decent showing this year. Hell, maybe they'll even make the playoffs!

No eight game winning streak

The Red Sox played poorly last night and got beat 7-3 by the Royals. On the upside, they won the series.

To be clear, when I say they played poorly, I mean they sucked. The Red Sox pitchers hit five batters and the Red Sox fielders made two errors.

Not a good outing.

Today they are on their way to the west coast where tomorrow they will start a 3-game series against the Padres.

My concern is that Buehler has the start tomorrow and his past performances have been less than good.

On the other hand, I might search for a video feed of the game that has the Padres coverage because Don Orsillo is the Padres play-by-play guy.

I always like listening to Orsillo call a ball game.

In other baseball news, the Worcester Red Sox won their game this afternoon.

It's been a while since we took a look at the stock market.

This is the DJIA today:

This is the DJIA since The Very Stable Genius and his new taxes (tariffs) took office:

As you can see, it's down just over a tenth of a percent since he took office on January 21st. But don't worry about it because according to the Genius, we're all rich:

Let me correct that statement there for ya DonnyBoy:
IT'S MIDNIGHT!!! BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN NEW TAXES ARE NOW BEING PAID BY CONSUMERS TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

I moved into Wilbraham in 1967 and other than a couple of years in a condo in Ludlow, I have lived in this town since then. That is 58 years of residence.

I can tell you about a lot of things that happened in this town over those 58 years. For instance, the majority of the residential neighborhoods that are here now were all farms back in the 1960s and 1970s. There have been several significant floods in the area around the Chicopee river. The tornado we had come through town in 2011 was not the first. We had one roll down Route 20 in the 1970s.

I can also tell you about things that did not happen in this town over those 58 years. For instance, until a few years ago, there was no hill climb on Monson Rd.

I don't have any idea why these people are claiming it has been going on since 1908. It hasn't been going on since 1908. Someone back in 1908 might have once driven a car up the hill to see how fast they could do it but it is not a "part of Wilbraham's history", it never has been.

Wilbraham-Monson Academy is part of Wilbraham's history.

Friendly's Ice Cream is part of Wilbraham's history.

Rice's Fruit Farm is part of Wilbraham's history.

Henry Knox dragging cannons through town on his way to Boston is part of Wilbraham's history.

People driving cars up Monson Road is not historical.

Monson Road is not a private race track, it is a residential road that connects Main St. in Wilbraham with the town of Monson. I can only imagine the disruption to the lives of people that live on that road when that thing happens.
