I got a nice little nap in today.

I had a dentist appointment today and I managed to get in a 5 minute nap while I was sitting in the chair.

A friend of mine who retired ten years ago has occasionally come back to work with us as a temporary, part-time consultant. He always works the same schedule - Work on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Off on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Oh, and did I mention that he only does this in the winter because during the summer he is busy building a Shelby Cobra in his garage.

My youngest has entered the world of radio.

About a month ago, along with a partner named Joe, he started doing a radio program on the college radio station. Their only restriction is that they can't violate any FCC regulations sothat means my youngest cannot swear on the radio.

When is the media going to stop using the verb "sequester" as a noun? Do even know what sequester means?

Sequester (verb)

1. to remove or separate.
2. to retire into seclusion.
3. to take temporarily out of the possession of its owner, esp until the claims of creditors are satisfied or a court order is complied with.
4. international law to requisition or appropriate (enemy property).

I'm not entirely sure how cuts to government spending fit into any of the above definitions.

GameDay kinda sucks

The Red Sox played an away game today so NESN didn't carry it. That meant I tried to keep track of it via MLB GameDay.

I gave up after two innings....

I certainly hope that during the regular season, GameDay is a little better.

Like maybe a lot better.

Like maybe better in the sense that it actually portrays what is going on with the game instead freezing up and then suddenly telling me what happened at the end of an inning or two.

I can read tomorrows paper and get that information out of the box score.

Bob Woodward is alive and kicking

Years ago, I was at a conference in Florida where the keynote speaker was Bob Woodward. I listened to him and, after he was done speaking, I had the pleasure of meeting and talking to him.

I started the conversation by telling him that I thought his followup to the burglary incident at the Watergate Hotel should be recognized as the point in history that proved the great experiment known as the American democracy was a success.

As a nation, we watched the most powerful man on the planet step down and relinquish his power to a successor without a single gunshot or any paramilitary intervention. He stepped down because two guys with pencils wanted to find the answer to one simple question: "What did the President know and when did he know it?"

I then went on to ask him what he had been doing since then. What new mysteries was he pursuing? He said that he was still focused on keeping an eye on the folks residing in the White House.

I guess he wasn't lying to me...
