To quote Charlie Sheen, "Winning!"

Last night, the Bruins managed to win a home game and are now up 3-2 in the best-of-seven series against the Blue Jackets. They still sucked on the power play but they did manage to score 4 goals to the Blue Jackets 3, which, as we all know, is enough to win.

On top of that, the Red Sox beat the crap out of the White Sox 15-2. Most of which they scored in the third inning.

It was a real pleasure watching both those games and to make it even better, I got to do it again this afternoon.

It was a pretty evenly matched game for most of it with the Red Sox and the White Sox going into the eighth inning tied 2-2.

The first batter up was Martinez and he managed hit a really long flyball for the first out.

Second batter up was Devers and he hit into a Ringling Bros kind of triple. He hit the ball over the left fielders head and started to make the turn to second but changed his mind when the throw came in. As he was scrambling back to first, the cutoff guy made a crappy throw to first and Devers turned around to scramble to second. The first baseman chased down the errant throw, picked it up and threw it over the second baseman's head. Devers immediately scrambled off to third.

The third batter up was Chavis and he drew a walk. Runners on first and third.

Fourth batter up was Moreland and he smacked a nice fast single through the infield. Devers scored and Chavis made it to third. Runners on first and third, score was 3-2.

Fifth up was Pearce and he struck out. Runners at first and third, two out, score  3-2.

Sixth batter up was Bradley Jr. and drew a walk. Bases loaded, two out, score 3-2.

Seventh batter up was Sparky Nunez and he hit a crappy little slow roller that hugged the third base line. The third baseman took his chances and prayed that it would roll foul. Turns out he chose poorly because it stayed fair. Chavis scored and everyone else was safe. Bases still loaded, two out, score 4-2.

Eighth batter up was Benintendi and he walked, bringing in Moreland. Bases loaded, two out, score 5-2.

Ninth batter was Bogaerts and he freakin' hit a freakin' grand freakin' slam babeeeeee! Bases empty, two outs, score 9-2.

Tenth batter up was Martinez, again, and he struck out. That ended the top half of the eighth inning. The White Sox failed to answer back in the bottom of the eighth and it was still 9-2 going into the ninth.

Neither team did much of anything in the ninth so the game ended with the Red Sox winning 9-2.

Winning!

Now they head to Baltimore where tomorrow they will start a three game series against the Orioles.

They won last night

Tonight is another evening of multiple sporting events. Red Sox are on at 7:10 and the Bruins are on at 7:15.

The Red Sox still need to get their ass above .500 but they are starting to make headway. Sale pitched a great game last night and the bats were working just fine.

Tonight Rodriguez gets to show us if he can bounce back from a bad outing and the hitters get to show us if they can continue hitting the ball well.

The Bruins and the Blue Jackets are tied 2-2 in their series and they are playing in Boston this evening. Normally, it would make me happy that they were at home but the two games they've lot were at home and the two they won were on the road.

The other thing they need to do is start taking advantage of power plays. I don't think I've seen them score a single point while up a man during this series. And the Blue Jackets have been drawing a lt of penalties. If the Bruins can figure out their power play lines, they'll win the games.

I had to renew my drivers license and I did it over at AAA. Trust me, going to AAA is way more convenient than going to the RMV. Not only are the people a lot nicer, they have a lot more parking.

I got the Real ID license because I don't want to try and get on a plane only to be told, "Sorry, but this ID is not acceptable. You'll have to drive to your destination."

The guy at AAA managed to do exactly what they do at the RMV but without all of the sour attitude and long lines. If you don't have a AAA membership, get one. It's worth it just to avoid going to the registry and dealing with those people.

Good and Bad

Bad - The Red Sox managed to give the game away in the ninth inning, losing 6-4 on a walk-off.

Good - The Bruins took an early lead and held on to it through all three periods. They sucked on the power plays but they managed to score and win.

And now I'm going to watch some of the Red Sox game.

I say "some" because it's raining out there and I suspect the game will start late, if at all. If it starts late, you can bet I won't be staying awake to watch very much of it.

Another night of multiple sports

Hockey is at 7:30 and baseball is at 8:00. That means another night of flipping back and forth between channels.

The Bruins need to win. They are currently trailing 2-1 in the Best of Seven series and if they lose tonight, they are one game from elimination. If they win tonight, they tie it up 2-2 and stand a chance.

The Red Sox are starting a four game series against the White Sox tonight and both teams are about even in the standings. The White Sox have a slightly better record but they've played fewer games so I suspect they are pretty well matched.

The Red Sox need to continue winning and get their record above .500.

We are coming up on the end of the spring semester which means all the students, including my daughter, are in the midst of finals. It also means that summer is approaching and that means four-day work weeks. Don;'t get me wrong, I feel for the students, specially my daughter, but hey, I get to look forward to every Wednesday off again this summer!

And before you jump on me over the whole three-day-weekend thing, I chose to take Wednesdays because that way I work two days, get a day off, work two days, get two days off. Think about that for a bit and I think you'll see that's not a bad work schedule.

No one told me the Red Sox game was on at 1:00 today!

I missed the game but they won. That means they took all three games against the Athletics and they are now at .452.

It's not above .500 but it's getting closer.

They are on the road to Chicago this evening to start a four game series against the White Sox tomorrow. If they win all four of the games, they will be above .500. I realize it's a stretch goal but hey, I can dream, can't I....

The Bruins are off tonight which is good because watching last nights lose led me to believe they are freaking exhausted. Their first line looked like they were dragging themselves around the ice and they just weren't keeping up with the Blue Jackets.

Maybe a night of rest will give them the energy they need to tie the series because they are currently behind 2-1.
