They kept predicting 3-6 inches but we ended up with about an inch, maybe two.

But I will tell you, that shit was heavy. I started pushing it off with the shovel but my old back did not like that at all and I ended up using the snowblower. Trust me, the snowblower wasn't too crazy about it either.

John, who lives around 5 to 7 miles away from me got about eight inches so it sucks to be him.

Now it can freeze and I don't have to worry about it.

I've been informed that the Christmas decorating is almost done. I understand that all that is left is the main tree. The secondary backup tree is all decorated:

For the record, we have cats that love the trees. They climb them and bat at the ornaments. As a result of thier desire to play with things, there are no breakable ornaments and we fully expect to lose some of the ornaments that are on the trees.

Oh well, that's what living with cats is like. That and they like to purr in my ear.

Just kidding, I'm not surrounded by the 'rona. My neighbor told me this morning that his whole family has it.

Him, his wife and his two little kids tested positive a few days ago. So far, no one has any symptoms other than his wife who says it's like a mild cold.

I'm still keeping my distance from them.

Still undefeated

The Steelers, or, as my Pittsburgh relatives call them, "The Stil'rs", are still undefeated. They beat the Ravens yesterday and now have a 11-0 record.

As for the Patriots, they are 5-6 and their next game is against the Chargers, who are currently 3-8. I'm hoping the Patriots win that game and move to 6-6. They haven't been below .500 since the early 2000s so seeing them sub-500 is not an easy thing for a Patriots fan to see.

Let's face it, us Patriots fans have been a little spoiled over the last 15-20 years...

I'm hoping this wind dies down soon

I have to do my biannual flight review some time this month and I don't feel like doing it when the winds are blowing like they did today.

The low pressure system that was sitting over upstate NY that brought us those lovely 40-50 mph wind gusts two days ago has moved north into Canada. It's still driving our wind but not as strong as the other day. Right now Bradley Airport is reporting 13-15 mph winds. The last thing I want to do is show some flight instructor my flying skills while battling variable winds blowing at 13 mph.

That's like taking the drivers road test during a snowstorm. Sure, you can probably do it but why would you?

I'm still trying to get my Christmas shopping completed before December 20th. That's the Sunday before Christmas and if I can accomplish that feat by then, I will have 4 days with no stress other than the stress exuded by my wife who habitually tries to make sure everyone has the best Christmas ever!

Although I suspect there will be less stress on her part this year because there are no entertainment events planned for the holidays.

Kinda long day

I went to a wake for a 43 year old man this afternoon. He was the only son of one of my very good friends. He was killed by cancer.

My buddy is doing okay but I can see it in his eyes that he is devastated by this. His son was diagnosed two years ago and just three months ago, the diagnosis was changed to reflect the fact that his cancer was no longer responding to treatment and his organs were failing.

Go hug your kids.

The Ravens / Steelers game has been moved from Thursday to Sunday to Tuesday to tomorrow. At this rate, those two teams are gonna end up playing a double-header next Sunday.

Rumors are beginning to swirl about the possibility of ending the football season early.
