Take a Vet out for a beer.

In other news, CEO's are stupid.

When the pandemic hit, the airlines laid off a shitload of pilots because, well, no one was flying anywhere.

Now that people are flying all over the place, the airlines are complaining that they are understaffed.

No shit, dickhead. You laid off all the pilots and now you don't have enough pilots. The people that used to fly for you are now flying for someone else or they are working in a different career because they needed to support themselves and their family

Some times (actually, all the time) I think corporate CEOs are morons...

The Bruins are playing the Oilers tonight and I plan on falling asleep in the middle of the first period.

Nice stressless day

I worked for a few hours this morning and then ran over to the campus for a meeting and a walk.

After that, I took a jaunt down to Costco and picked up some necessities. While I was there, I checked the status of things like toilet paper and paper towels. I'm pleased to announce they have ample supplies.

No one wants to go through the whole toilet paper shortage again...

Then it was home do do a little more reloading and watching another nerd presentation by the FBI on what the latest threats are to our world.

For the record, it seems that someone in Iran is collecting all the publicly available personal data from school and corporate websites. The analysts seem to think the Iranians are gearing up for some kind of digital assault (phishing) on American universities and companies.

I was going to clean the leaves off my lawn but we are destined for some breezy days and some rain on Friday. That means the trees will probably get stripped pretty well by Sunday.

Hopefully they won't be too thick and wet when I finally get around to doing them. Also, hopefully most of them will have blown back onto my neighbor's yard since that's where most of them come from.

The Bruins beat the Senators last night 3-2 in a game with some pretty damned good hockey being played.

It appears that there might be some bad blood between a few Bruins and Senators players because things got a little "chippy" during the game. Several scuffles broke out and there were a lot of penalties on both sides.

They are off tonight and they face the Oilers tomorrow at 7:00. That should be an interesting game since Edmonton is in first place in the Western Conference.

I'm going to feed the creatures and make some dinner for the humans.

I finally understand blockchain

This afternoon I sat through a four hour presentation from the FBI on blockchain.

For those of you that don't know what blockchain is, think bitcoin or any other "cryptocurrency".

It's basically a way to track something (data, money, art, etc...) with multiple ledgers. All ledgers need to agree with each other and reflect the same data. If one ledger is compromised or invalidated, the other ledgers can dispute it and agree to reset it.

What it also means is that I'm kinda burned out.

Man, some of those people are nerds-to-the-max and they love to talk about their area of expertise.

The Senators are in town to play the Bruins this evening and I will make every effort to watch as much of the game as possible.

As I told John, I will probably watch most of the first period, fall asleep at the break and wake up a some point during the third period. This means I fully expect to miss the entire second period.

This time change is kicking my ass.

Things are getting done

I had things to do at work and then when I was done doing that, I wanted to do some reloading.

One of the things I'm doing at work involves ripping data from a security repository and reporting on changes. This is so I can track who is making changes to people's access rights.

Another thing I'm trying to get done is a process that managers can use to find out who has access to their data. In other words, the Finance VP can run a report that shows who has access to his financial data.

All of that requires some tedious code.

As for the reloading, a boy needs some fun things to do and this boy considers that kind of thing fun.

I'm still trying to overcome the freakin' time change.

I'm tired and I want to take numerous naps. Right now it's 5:15pm and I'm nodding off while typing.

Well, that was interesting.

The Patriots beat up on the Panthers pretty good but I can't say they played well. I'd actually say that it was more a case of the Panthers playing like crap rather than the Patriots playing well.

The Patriots had four penalties against them during the first quarter and it didn't get much better as the game went on. They also had several turnovers in the form of fumb les or interceptions.

Despite all that, they still mnaged to beat the Panthers 24-6.

In other NFL news, the Bills lost today. This means the Patriots are now only about a game (¾ of a game, actually) behind them.

Not a great win but a win none-the-less.

In case I haven't mentioned it every year for the last 8 or 9 years, let me remind you that I dislike this semi-annual time change thing we do.

I was falling asleep at 10 this morning.

This is bullshit...
