Merry Halloween

I expect to have disguised children at my door implying they will perform some kind of trick on me if I don't give them a treat.

The Yankees embarrassed themselves by giving up a 5-0 lead in the 5th inning. And by "giving", I mean they gave the Dodgers those runs by committing three errors and generally playing like a little league team.

In the end, the Dodgers won 7-6 and flew home to LA with the Commissioner's Trophy on the plane with them.

My statement the other day, "Freddie Freeman is the big star of this series and he should be the headline, not Aaron Judge" has come true and Freddie was named World Series MVP

It is now officially the "off season" and we now get to watch the teams try to sign free agents, trade with each other and generally piss-off the fan base by doing things we don't understand.

All I really know is that Pitchers and Catchers usually report to camp in the second week of February. That means I have to wait a little more than 100 days before I can watch any live baseball.

The Bruins take on the Hurricanes tonight and I will be watching it.

They need to start winning. And by "winning", I mean they need a ten-game winning streak.

They need to get out of the cellar.

I gotta go give out candy.

The Judges finally won a game.

The Yankees beat the Dodgers 11-4 last night and yes, I watched the game. I'll get to the Bruins later...

Since the Judges won last night, there will be a fifth game tonight so I now have something to watch.

Yes, I also watched the Bruins and trust me when I say they played like crap. They lost 2-0 to a team with a worse record and are now listed as being in last place in the Atlantic Division

They kept passing the puck to the Flyers, they basically stopped shooting at the goal and they just flat out looked tired.

Tomorrow they take on the Hurricanes. Puck drops at 7:00pm. Hopefully they get some rest today.

I'm sick and tired of all the election bulshit. I will be beyond happy when November 6th rolls around and this is all over with.

Trump continues laying the groundwork for a claim of election interference/fraud/whatever should he lose.

I find it amazing that he never provides any proof of his claims...

Remember folks, vote for Cammy.
There will be less rodents but a lot more fun. And maybe things won't be as screwed up as they are now.

Go Dodgers!

I am underjoyed to see the Dodgers up 3-0 in the World Series but I am overjoyed to see the Yankees down 3-0 in the World Series.

Here's what I dislike about the corporation known as Major League Baseball:

Despite the Yankees being down 3-0 in the series, the headline on the MLB website is about Aaron Judge:

Freddie Freeman is the big star of this series and he should be the headline, not Aaron Judge.

Freemen has hit at least one home run, one of which was a grand slam, in all three games. This despite playing on a sprained ankle.

MLB needs to stop performing oral sex on Aaron Judge.

The Bruins face off against the Flyers this evening and I will be watching that game. Yes, I will look in on the World Series but the Bruins game comes first.

Unless they are losing. Then I'll watch the World Series.

They better not lose...

I don't ever want to hear anyone raving about how England doesn't have a gun problem. No, they don't have a gun problem, they have the same problem we do - crazy people, violent people, psychotic people, whatever you want to call them. They have the same people we do.

Stop targeting firearms and start looking at the people who need to be looked at. Stop being concerned about a tool and start being concerned about a world that allows these kinds of people to walk among us.

No hockey tonight

Guess I'll be watching the World Series tonight.

And it looks like Ohtani will be in the lineup tonight so the Judges should be worried.

Speaking of the Yankees, I was going through some old memes I saved over the years and I found this one from 2007.

The Yankees were playing the Indians (now Guardians) in the ALDS with the Indians up to bat when suddenly millions of bugs known as "midges" came rolling in off the lake.

It got so bad that a trainer came out and sprayed bug repellent on the Yankees pitcher, Joba Chamberlain.

If I remember correctly, this picture started circulating even before the game ended.

I thought this was kind of funny:

The Bruins won last night!

They had a 3-2 lead in the third period but they blew it with about a minute left in the game and the Maple Leafs tied it 3-3.

As amazing as it seems, the Bruins scored in OT, taking the 4-3 win and moving to .500 in the standings.

Don't get me wrong, they are still playing like crap and they really need to get it together. They are currently fifth in the Atlantic division which is a bad place to be in a division with eight teams...

Their next game is Tuesday against the Flyers. Puck drops at 7:00pm.

The Dodgers are up 2-0 in the world series, beating the Yankees 4-2 last night.

In a blow to the Dodgers, Ohtani injured himself stealing second by dislocating his shoulder while sliding into the bag. They call it a "subluxation" but we all know it's a dislocation.

So far, the Dodgers are saying he might be okay but they'll know more tonight after the MRI results come back. I suspect he won't be available for tomorrows game.

And speaking of tomorrow's game, they are in New York. First pitch is at 8:08pm.

As for the Patriots, they played the Jets at 1:00 this afternoon and managed to get their second win of the season.

Maye started the game but left the game in the second quarter after taking a pretty hard hit to the head. Brissette took over with 7:00 minutes in the quarter showed what happens to a quarterback who hasn't taken a snap in the last three games...

Things looked bad in the 4th quarter with the Patriots down 22-17 but with just a few minutes left on the clock, they scored a touchdown and then a conversion to go up 25-22.

The Jets tried and came close but they just couldn't get the ball across the goal line and the game ended with the Patriots winning 25-22.

They are now 2-6 and tied for last place with the Jets in the AFCEast

It begins

I got this spam message today:

I decided to do a search on the google and I found this.

So the republicans are claiming election interference and the democrats are claiming they just wanted to make sure the thing was attached.

I don't believe either one of them...

The Ohtanis beat the Judges in fine fashion last night with the first walk-off grand slam in World Series history.

With a one run lead in the tenth inning, Boone decided put in Cortez, a pitcher who has not pitched in almost a month, to close out the game. It was a spectacular failure and Freddie Freeman smoked on into the top of the first deck in center field.

Boone did not look happy...

They are back at it again at 8:08 tonight.

More things I miss:
    Cartoons:

At some point in the 80s, Looney Toons caved in to the adults who claimed violence was the root of all evil and started censoring itself. The Coyote no longer fell hundreds of feet, slamming into the ground and walking away with a body like an according. Bugs Bunny no longer convinced Elmer Fudd to shoot Daffy Duck in the face. Those were funny cartoons.

Doonsbury used to be funny. Now it's just a warm, gooey collection of political muck. I know it's always been political muck but it used to by funny political muck.

    Motorcycles:

I know there are still motorcycles but I don't ride them anymore so I miss them.

    Cheap beer:

Narraganset, Pabst, Ballentine, Rheingold all sucked but they were cheap as hell.

Thirsty Thursdays at the Hartford Jai Alai Fronton where they sold drafts for a dime and hotdogs for a quarter.
Like I said, the other day, there will be more when my brain suddenly wakes up and remembers things I miss.

They suck

The Bruins played like shit last night. And when I say shit, I mean a big old steamy pile of cow shit.

I watched all three periods and was disappointed with each one.

I can't even say, "They started out good and then fell apart." No sir, I can't say that at all. They sucked right from the get go.

They lost to the Stars 5-2 and to be honest with you, I'm kinda shocked the score wasn't worse for them.

Tomorrow they play the Maple Leafs. Puck drops at 7:00 and, yes, as crazy as it sounds, I will be watching them.

Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno announced today that he has been diagnosed with cancer.

Not sure what kind of cancer he has but I am sure that I kind of like him and I hope he makes a full recovery.

The Aaron Judges are in Los Angeles to play the Shohei Ohtanis in game one of the World Series.

I'm rooting for the Ohtanis even though I don't like them.

I don't like the Judges either but I don't like the Ohtanis less than I don't like the Judges.

All the cult members are out

Running some errands today and I spotted a Harris cult member standing at an intersection waving a sign. A few miles later, I spotted a Trump cult member standing at an intersection waving a sign.

Good luck with your sign waving and thumbs upping people. I can assure you that I am not going to be influenced by your sign but you feel free to wave it all you want.

I'm thinking about getting a sign that says, "They're all idiots. Vote for yourself!" and waving it around while standing at an intersection.

Or maybe I'll just bring the Cammy sign and wave that around.

The Bruins are taking on the Stars tonight so hopefully they win.

Their 3-3-1 record kinds sucks...

I voted today

We were out running a bunch of errands this morning and my wife said she wanted to go vote so we stopped by the town hall to vote.

Turns out we aren't the only ones to vote early. There had to be 10 people in front of us and a line forming behind us.

Either early voting has gotten very popular or this election is going to see the highest turnout of voters in my lifetime.

The Bruins took another loss last night, getting beat by the Predators 4-0.

I'm not sure what is wrong with the team this year but from what the media is going on about, there may very well be some internal strife. Whether that is correct or not, all anyone can really say is something is not right with them.

They are on their way back to Boston where tomorrow they will take on the Stars. Puck drops at 7:00 which means I might be able to watch all three periods.

He's a leader all right. He's leading them to the worst record since 1990 when they went 1-15...

Don't misunderstand, I don't blame him for their current 1-6 record but he's certainly not leading them to weekly wins.

This is probably going to turn out to be one of the worst seasons for the Patriots.

No Mets...

The Dodgers beat the Mets last night and won the NLCS pennant.

As disappointing as it is to me, I do have to admit that a New York Aaron Judge's vs the Los Angeles Shohei Ohtani's world series is going to be an interesting world series.

I think I like Ohtani more than Judge and the Dodgers have several players that I liked when they played for the Red Sox, including Ryan Brasier, Mookie Betts, Enrique Hernández and manager Dave Roberts

The Yankees only have one ex-Red Sox player, Alex Verdugo, and he was a bit of a problem child when he was with the Red Sox. Let's face it, there is a reason he was traded to a team that traditionally the Red Sox never trade with.

So having said all that, I guess I'll just add, "Uh, Go Dodgers..."

Fall has come to my backyard.

And yes, I know that in the next week or two, those leaves are going to be all over my new grass...

Dear Red Sox ownership:

Hiring more executives is not going to help you win games. You need players. Specifically, you need starting pitching, some right-handed bats and a stronger middle infield.

Sincerly, a fan.

I've come to the conclusion that I watched my last postseason game for the Red Sox back in 2021 and I'll be dead before they play another one...

It's the late 80s all over again

The Patriots have reverted back to the way they played when Kiam owned the team: Poorly.

They stunk up Wembley Stadium pretty bad this morning, losing to the Jaguars 32-16.

They are now 1-6 and are tied with the Cleveland Browns for the worst record in the NFL.

They are home next Sunday to play the Jets, a team without a coach.

The New York Aaron Judges beat the Guardians last night, winning the ALCS and moving on to play in the World Series.

The Mets play the Dodgers tonight at 8:08. It is once again a "win or go home" kind of game for the Mets.

Go Mets!

As for the Bruins, they also sucked, losing 2-1 to the Utah Hockey Club last night.

I didn't watch any of the game but if I had, I'm sure I would have had a few choice things to say...

With only 16 days before the election, I want to remind everyone to vote for Cammy.

Go Mets!

The Mets beat the Dodgers 12-6 last night, staying alive in the series.

Both teams are heading back to Los Angeles today where the series continue. The Dodgers need to win one game to take the series while the Mets need to win both games to take the series.

Go Mets!

In the ALCS, the Yankees beat the Guardians last night, giving them a 3-1 lead in that series.

They are playing tonight and the first pitch is at 8:08

I get the best spam...
Let me just say that if you were to open that attachment, it would not open a PDF. It would probably open an application that would run in the background doing things you would not like.

Another one that I got today was on my phone
Those two messages popped up while the Amazon delivery person was standing on my front porch...

Never, and I'll repeat that because it's an important word, NEVER open an attachment or click a link you received in an unsolicited email/message.

Oh No Mets!

The Mets did not fare well last night, getting beat 10-2 by the Dodgers. This puts them down 3-1 in the series.

Tonight is a "win or go home" game for them so hopefully they win.

First pitch was at 5:08 and the Mets are currently up 10-5 in the 5th inning.

Go Mets!

The Cubans are screwed but that is not what I wanted to say.

Why do we treat Cuba like a plague on the planet? What, exactly, did they ever do to us?

I understand that there are concerns about the way the Cuban government treats it's citizens but that doesn't explain why we hate them. I also understand there are concerns about their relationships with certain other countries and their communist government but we treat Vietnam with respect and have strong trade relations with them.

I don't get it.

The DJIA has had a pretty darned good week.

Gas prices in Hampden County are below $3.00.

Why do I, and a lot of other people, feel like things suck with the economy? Is it the $200 weekly grocery bills? The fact that a dinner out for two people costs more than $80? Maybe it's the 50% increase in homeowners and auto insurance?

If someone figures it out, let the rest of us know, will ya...

James Madison, the primary architect/author of the first 10 amendments (The Bill of Rights) and the 4th President of the United States, is quoted as saying,
"The purpose of separation of church and state is to keep forever from these shores the ceaseless strife that has soaked the soil of Europe in blood for centuries."

Another great quote, that I have no idea who said it, is,
"Religion is like a penis: it's fine to have one, it's fine to be proud of it, but please don't whip it out and start waving it around in public, and please don't try to shove it down my children's throats."

Apparently, Ryan Walters has never heard those quotes

The Mets are down 2-1

Last night they didn't play well. The Dodgers, however, did play well. The Mets lost 8-0 which isn't as bad as the 9-0 loss the other day,

On a more positive note, the Dodgers are sitting Freeman. That is a big bat taken out of their lineup.

As for the Aaron Judges, they have a 2-1 series lead but right now, the Guardians are up 2-1 in the 6th inning.

The Bruins managed to beat the Avalanche 5-3 last night even though I wasn't watching them.

This gives them a 3-2 record.

Tomorrow they will take on the Utah Hockey Club. Puck drops at 9:00 so maybe I'll be able to watch the the first and part of the second periods before calling it a night.

NOAA has released it's winter outlook and it looks like we are going to avoid a lot of snow.

Yankees are up 2-0

The New York Aaron Judges managed to hold off the Guardians and won last night. This puts them up 2-0 on the ALCS series.

Both teams are heading to Cleveland where they will continue the series starting tomorrow.

The Mets and Dodgers are in Queens for the continuation of their series. It would do my heart good to see the Mets win all three of their home games and take the pennant.

Go Mets!

As for the Bruins, they are out in Denver where at 9:30 tonight, they will play the Avalanche.

Also happening at 9:30 tonight will be me going to bed and not seeing any of the game.

Hopefully tomorrow morning I will discover that the Bruins won the game.

So Goofy Joe told HeeBeeJeeBee Netanyahu that if he didn't stop blowing up little kids, we would cut off his supply of weapons.

If you read that sentence, you might find yourself saying, "Huh?"

That's right, we told Israel that if they stop blowing up people, we will keep giving them bombs so they can keep blowing up people.

We have a law in this state that says anyone that is unable to take care of their newborn baby can leave the baby at a hospital, a police station or a fire station and there will be no ramifications. The state will place the child into the foster system and put it up for adoption. In other words, we make it easy for people to give up their responsibilities of parenthood.

Let me be clear: We make it easy for people to put their children into a system that will care for them. And this law is not one of those "hidden" laws, it is talked about on the news and in public all the time.

Can someone explain to me why anyone who is at least smart enough to have sex and procreate is stupid enough to abandon their child on someones doorstep?

There are a lot of idiots in our society...

Long day = short post

The Met's beat the Dodgers and the Yankees beat the Guardians yesterday.

That means the Mets and Dodgers are tied 1-1 and the Yankees are up 1-0.

Go Mets!

Bad start.

The Mets got stomped last night, getting beat 9-0 by the Dodgers in game one of the NLCS.

Hopefully they can turn it around this afternoon and grab a win in Los Angeles before they head to Queens.

First pitch was thrown for 4:08pm and by 4:10pm, it was 1-0 Mets.

Go Mets!

In the hockey world, the Bruins & Panthers went at it this afternoon and the first period was like the final game in the movie Slapshot!.

Apparently the refs decided they weren't going to call penalties until the boys decided to doll out their own form of justice. Suddenly, after several fights that involved more than two players, the refs started to get control of the game and things calmed down a bit.

In the end, the Bruins lost to the Panthers, getting beat 4-3.

Their next game is Wednesday. They'll head out to Denver to take on the Avalanche. Puck drops at 9:30, which is way too late for me.

We closed the proch for the season but one of The Sisters has decided otherwise:

The other one is also not ready to call it a season but she's hiding under the tarp.

Game one of the ALCS between the Yankees / Guardians kicks off at 7:38pm and yes, I will be watching it.

Sportings kind of day

Today was filled with football, golf, and (very soon) baseball.

The Patriots managed to stink the place up and they lost 41-21 to the Texans

Maye started and since the offensive line still sucks, he didn't have a good outing. They had at least three turnovers and Maye got sacked several times.

And the defensive line wasn't faring much better. The Texans were up 14-0 before the end of the first quarter.

Oh well. Next up for them is a trip to London, England where they will play the Jaguars. Kickoff is scheduled for 9:30 am our time. And by "our time", I mean Eastern Daylight Savings Time

As for my other football team, the Steelers, they are playing as I type but I can't watch them because CBS thinks it's more important for me to listen to a bunch of guys talk about how bad the Patriots played...

Tonight starts the NLCS series between the Mets and the Dodgers.

First pitch is at 8:15. Since the game is being carried by a network that loves the sound of it's own voice (FOX) we should assume first pitch will happen sometime before 8:45

Go Mets!

Things I miss:
    Cars:
Those side vent "wing" windows - Those things were great and there was no reason to remove them from car design. No reason at all.

Push buttons - The touch screen is a pain in the ass and if you want to change something, you have to take your eyes off the road so you can find the spot on the screen to touch. With buttons, you could just feel it and then push it.

Ashtrays - They were perfect for holding a shitload of quarters for things like parking meters, toll-booths (I don't miss those) and just to generally have some spare change when you needed it.

    Candy:
Candy cigarettes - Yes, I know people think those things made kids turn into smokers but people are wrong. No kid ever started smoking because of a candy cigarette. We all started smoking because it was cool and it made us look rebelious.

Black Jack Gum - I like licorice-flavored anything.

    Television:
Anything other than 24 hour news networks - The worst part of our society is made even worse by all the so-called "24 hour news networks". They aren't news networks, they are opinion networks. There is not 24 hours worth of news occurring in the world. There is at most, 2 or 3 hours of news in any given day. That means CNN, FOX, MSNBC, etc... spend the other 21/22 hours telling us what they think about things.

Westerns - "Gunsmoke", "Bonanza", "Have Gun Will Travel", "Maverick", etc... And while "F-Troop" wasn't really a western, it was funny as hell.

    Sports:
Marching bands during the half-fime of a football game - I could care less what some bonehead thinks of how so-and-so is playing. Show me the Michigan State marching band forming shapes on the field.

ABC's Wide World Of Sports - That was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon, watching ski jumping, curling, bocci ball, rattlesnake hunting, whatever they could find. Jim McKay was the announcer and he made every "sport" sound like it was the best sport ever invented. "The thrill of victory... The agony of defeat"

    United States:
Dreams - As a nation, we used to have big dreams. "Let's go to the moon!", "Let's create public schools!", "Let's run municiple hospitals!", etc... Now all of that stuff is being done by for-profit businesses. Damn shame if you ask me. I've always said we needed a massive public works project to get us off fossile fuels. Something like the Manhattan Project but instead of creating a weapon, they create a power source that can effectively replace fossile fuels.

Parties - 1976 was the nations bicentennial year. Trust me when I say this country threw a hell of a party for that celebration. Also, when was the last time you saw a ticker-tape parade? We held ticker-tape parades for anyone who did anything cool or exciting.
That's all I can think of right now but it's a good bet that at least half a dozen more things will pop into my head in the future.

I'm going to leave you with these links:

The Bruins are now at .666

They beat the Kings 2-1 this afternoon which mens they've won two of their three games.

I'm less concerned now than I was during the preseason...

Next up is the Panthers, who beat them last Tuesday. Hopefully they win that game.

Anyways, they face off on Monday. Puck drops at 1:00

The Guardians beat the Tigers 7-3 this afternoon which means they move on to face the Yankees in the ALCS.

As much as I'd like to see a Mets/Yankees world searies, I would realy enjoy seeing the Guardians beat the Yankees in the ALCS.

Go Mets!

A bad day of golf is better than a good day at work

That is an old saying that I would like to agree with but today was a bad day of golf.

The three of us stunk up the course, we were all uncomfortable because of the wind & cold and while I'm not sure about Willie or Pat, I personally was exhausted from my late-night jaunt home from Keene last night. On top of that, I'm still dealing with a back that feels like someone is constantly punching me in my spine just below my neck.

When we finished our round, I told the gents that this was probably my last outing of the year unless a miracle occurred and a nice 75° day made an appearance.

Guess we'll see what next week brings us in the weather department

The NLCS pairing will be determined tonight when the Dodgers play the Padres. The winner of that game wil be the Mets opponent.

As I mentioned last night, the New York Aaron Judges beat the Royals and are in the ALCS. Their opponent in the ALCS will be determined tomorrow night when the Guardians take on the Tigers.

Go Mets!

My daughter was able to get some decent pictures of the aurora last night. Here's one of them:

The Bruins beat the Canadiens last night. This puts them at .500 in the new season.

Their next game is tomorrow against the Kings. Puck drops at 1:00

Go Mets!

The Phillies are now on vacation.

The Mets beat the Phillies last night and they have moved on to the NLCS.

They will play either the Padres or the Dodgers in the conference series. That best-of-seven series is scheduled to start on Sunday, the 13th.

The good part of that is the Mets are in it. The bad part is the opposing team is a west coast team and that means late games.

Oh well.

In the AL series, the Guardians and the Tigers series is tied 2-2 and the Yankees defeated the Royals to move on to the ALCS.

Milton was kind of a bust.

I chatted with Walt who has a place down in the Fort Meyers area and he says all is well. No power but no damage.

I also chatted with my sister in Daytona. She said it was loud but they didn't even lose power.

All-in-all, it was a shitty night for some people but most people are saying it was not much worse than thunderstorm.

Today was a full day. We went to Keene to meet up with our youngest and watch him play music.

That means there was no time for links.

That means there will be extra links tomorrow.

Good, the Bad and the Ugly

The Good.

With yesterday's win, the Mets lead the series 2-1. If they win tonight, they win the NLDS series and move on to the NLCS.

They remain in Queens for tonight's game. First pitch is at 5:08.

Go Mets!

The Bad.

The Bruins lost their season opener, getting beat by the Panthers last night.

They did not play well and the goalie, Korpisalo, did not have a great night. He had 29 stops on 35 shots on goal, which is a 83% save rate.

They face off against the Canadians tomorrow. Puck drops at 7:00 and I'm hoping Swayman is in goal.

The Ugly.

DeSantis is started telling people to stop listening to misinformation and lies being spread on the internet.

This is coming from a guy who spread misinformation and lies about covid...

DeSantis a boob.

Bummer

There was nothing more enjoyable in baseball than seeing the face of a batter as Luis Tiant wound up to throw a pitch.

He would turn his entire body so he was facing the outfield wall and the batter would get a look of panic because he realized that Tiant was about to throw a 90mph fast ball but he was not looking at home plate.

He was a hell of a pitcher and a bit of a goofball.

Speaking of baseball, the divisional series are all tied at 1-1 and boy, are the Yankees players/media/fans pissed. As far as they are concerned, the Yankees should have gone undefeated all the way to winning the world series trophy. The Royals, however, seem to have a different game plan.

Today's games have the Phillies in Queens to take on the Mets and the Dodgers in San Diego to take on the Padres.

Right now, the Mets are up 4-0 in the 6th inning.

Go Mets!

Milton is taking his sweet time but it is weakening. Don't get me wrong, it's still a cat 4 and it might jump back up into a cat 5 before hitting Clearwater/St. Petersburg/Tampa.

This is what Milton looks like on the wind tracker site I use:

Not anything you want to mess with...

The series is tied 1-1

The Mets lost to the Phillies in the ninth inning. The final score was 7-6 and it was a real nail-bitter.
