Our destination was Boston where we planned to meet up with our youngest and his wife so we could go watch a baseball game at 11:00am
The reason we left so early was simple - traffic was an unknown today.
To get to Boston from our house we must pass through the small town of Hopkinton.
For those of you that aren't familiar with Hopkinton, it has one claim to fame: It is the starting line of the Boston Marathon.
So to recap, we were driving to Boston to attend a Red Sox game which usually results in a lot of traffic. Add to that the tens of thousands of people that show up to watch the marathon and you have more than a lot of traffic, you have what I like to call a shitload of traffic.
On top of the traffic, I figured we would have to deal with the 25 miles of closed roads and intersections that make up the marathon course.
Add all of that together and I figured we were going to run into some major traffic headaches.
What I can tell you is that we didn't run into any traffic on our way out and we made it to the game well before the first pitch.
The drive home was a bit more of a headache but still not terrible.
