Two losses

They lost last night and again this afternoon, losing two of three to the Mariners.

They are still above .500 and in second place in the ALEast but just barely.

Hopefully they do better out in Cleveland. They will play a three-game series against the Guardians starting tomorrow. First pitch is at 7:10 and Houck has the start

I managed get the valves out of the snowblower engine this afternoon and scrape all the old gasket off. I also got a lot of the carbon build up off the cap and the head.

This is a before picture of the head:

This is an after picture of the head:

I'm pleased to announce that I managed to grind just enough off the valves to bring them into spec for the engine. Then I really made myself happy when I managed to successfully get the valves reinstalled in the head.

So now I wait for the new gasket to arrive. According to the folks at Amazon, it'll be here next Wednesday so hopefully we don't have any snow before then.

Oh, and for the record, I found the engine label and it has a "date of manufacture" on it. According to what I saw, the engine was made on October 20, 2003. Assuming the engine sat around for a year or two before it was mounted on to the snowblower nd eventually sold to me, that would make the snowblower around 20 years old.

I'd say I got my money's worth out of it. If I can keep it running for another five years, I'll be a happy guy. I'll also probably be too old to do my driveway and I'll hire someone.
