In an homage to Hoke Colburn from the movie Driving Miss Daisy, I took my wife over to a local farm/greenhouse/garden center. I bring up Houck because I always like to say to my wife when we start out, "I'm fixin' to drive you to the Piggly Wiggly Miss Daisy!"
What Houck actually said was, "I'm tryin' to drive you to the store!" but I think my line is better.
So anyways, on the busiest days of the year for garden places, we went to a garden place. There, along with thousands of our closest friends, we bought a bunch of plants that she will stick into the ground and kill.
Just kidding. When she plants things they usually do okay. I'm the guy that kills plants.
Oh, and there was also hand-made ice cream.
The Red Sox won last night, beating the Royals 10-1.
The Red Sox won this afternoon, beating the Royals 3-1.
This means the Red Sox won the series.
As I often say, the way to make the playoffs is to win series and stay above .500.
Oh, and the Umpire Scorecard for the first game of the series that the Red Sox lost is out:
No wonder they lost...
Time to watch some golf and then toss some burgers on the grill.
Here are today's links:
- Key line in this story: "You can imagine what 150 people scrambling out of the church looked like."
- I'm just glad they haven't gone nuclear. Yet...
- Other than that, it was a touching ceremony.
- The Colorado Rockies are the worst team in MLB. How that manager and GM still have a job is beyond me.
- "Two fingered man" pretty much says it all...
- I'm one of those people that hate touch screens. Give me back my buttons.
