I need to get some Christmas shopping done

I need to go to an actual store and do some Christmas shopping.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of online shopping but I have no idea what I want to get. This means I need to go on a hunt and looking at things online isn't quite the same as actually seeing the stuff in real life.

The Professor is creating her famous pasta, sausage and meatball dish for dinner so I do not need to hunt for food.

Another win

The Bruins looked like they were about to lose last night when their captain decided that wasn't going to happen.

The Bruins were down 1-0 in the third period when Marchand scored 3 quick goals. And by quick, I mean he got all three goals within 6 minutes.

As things stand today, they have the same number of points as the Rangers but the Rangers are currently in first place in the NHL.

This is because both teams have 18.5 wins but the Rangers have only played 23 games while the Bruins have played 24 games. That means the Rangers have a win percentage of .804 while the Bruins win percentage is .771.

Their next game is Thursday against the Sabres. Puck drops at 7:00pm.

The Red Sox have not yet made any significant changes to their roster.

Then again, we are still more than 70 days away from the start of spring training.

I'll take the win

Last night, the Bruins had a great first period, a so-so second period, not-so-great third period and an excellent sudden-death OT period.

They were up 2-0 in the second period when the Maple Leafs scored, making it 2-1.

They were up 3-2 in the third period when, with just 6 seconds left in the game, the Maple Leafs tied it up 3-3, sending the game into overtime.

Then, with only 8 seconds left in the OT period, the Bruins put the puck into the net and beat the Maple Leafs 4-3

It was an interesting game...

They are back at it again this evening when the Blue Jackets roll into Boston. Puck drops at 7:00.

As for the Patriots...

I don't want to talk about the Patriots.

Suffice to say they are now 2 - 10 and Zappe can't throw a football any better than Jones. Then again, Zappe hasn't had a lot of playing time so maybe he'll get better just in time for the season to end.

The leaves are done

Yesterday I got all the leaves off my yard and my next door neighbors yard. I'm old but they are a lot older and the guy they hire to do their lawn has shut down for the season. Also, I wanted to run as much gas as possible out of my lawn tractor and put it away for the season.

When I looked out my window this morning, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the lawns were still clear except for a small circle under the dogwood in my front yard. Maybe I'll go out one day this week and rake them up, maybe I won't. We'll see how it goes.

I thought today's front cover of the New York Post was funny:

Santos is throwing a digital hissy fit, claiming that everyone he met in the house of representatives was corrupt. He's also claiming that he is going to file ethics violations against at least four house members.

I'm not sure how he can file ethics violations since he is no longer a member of the house. Near as I can tell, the only thing he can do is write a letter to his congressman complaining about them.

Oh, wait. He was his congressman.

Guess he has no one to complain to.

And by the way, I'm willing to bet that he is probably right about the four he wants to complain about. I am one of those people who believes most politicians and used car salesmen are unethical.

Finally, a win

The Bruins played some pretty good hockey and, despite amassing a full period worth of penalty minutes, they managed to shut out the Sharks 3-0.

Swayman faced 26 shots on goal and managed 26 stops. That is pretty good considering that at one point in the second period the Sharks were playing a full team against only three Bruins. Five-on-three usually results in a goal by the dominate team but Swayman held his own and stopped every shot they made.

Tomorrow they are in Toronto to play the Maple Leafs. Puck drops at 7:00.

Looks like Tommy Flanagan is out of a job.

I gotta be honest with you, I'm not sure this was the right move simply because I believe that since voters put him there, voters should be the ones that fire him. I think the house overstepped its authority.

Then again, the guy is a first class piece of shit and somebody needed to do something to get him out of there.
