A little golf, a little football

I watched Lydia Ko and Jason Day play some damned good golf. And they had to play some damned good golf because everyone else was playing damned good golf.

How good?

Lexi Thompson and Rickie Fowler shot 22 under par for the tournament and finished in sixth place.

That's some pretty damned good golf.

After that I watched the Browns and Joe Flacco (a guy who is old and hasn't played much) beat the Jaguars.

Once that was over, I watched the Bills / Chiefs game. The Bills won 20-17 and Mahomes was not a happy guy. The Chiefs had a last minute touchdown called back because a Chiefs receiver stepped over the line of scrimmage before the ball was snapped.

Now I'm watching the news and thinking I might need to check how much fuel is in my generator. The weather nerds are predicting high winds and heavy rains which is the recipe for my neighborhood to lose power.

Trump has announced that he will no longer testify on his own behalf tomorrow. He says it's because, "I have already testified to everything & have nothing more to say..."

I think it's because his attorney told him to either shut up or get a new attorney.

I would think that it is not easy defending him. He's like the five year old kid whose lips and fingers are covered in chocolate claiming that he didn't eat the chocolates. Someone must have broken in, eaten all the chocolates and smeared chocolate all over him while he was sleeping.

I found this and thought it was funny:

Movin' on up!

After today's win over the Coyotes, the Bruins have once again taken sole possession of first place in the NHL.

I gotta be honest with you, they were up 3-0 in the second and they suddenly started playing like crap. By the third period, when the Bruins were up 4-3, I thought they were goiong to end up in a tie and be forced into a sudden death period.

But they held on, scoring one more goal and winning 5-3.

Now they are off for three days until Wednesday when they head down to Newark where they will take on the Devils. Since that game is being carried by TNT, it starts at 7:30 instead of 7:00.

We spent a fairly big chunk of our day at the mall tackling the Christmas shopping. I hate the mall and I hate shopping but I'm glad to say that as things stand right now, we are pretty much done.

I have some things I need to pick up at local stores but I do not have go deal with mall people anymore.

I don't like mall people.

This is Willow. She thinks we put that Christmas tree up just for her.

I will be spending my evening watching the Grant Thornton Invitational.

You can spend your evening doing whatever you want.

When I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

Yesterday I said the score of the Patriots / Steelers game would be 6-0 in favor of the Steelers.

Boy, was I wrong. The final score of the game was 21-18 in favor of the Patriots.

Turns out the Steelers don't have much of an offense. It also turns out that when Zappe plays more than once or twice a season, he plays pretty well.

This puts the Patriots at 3-10 which is not the worst record in the NFL. They are tied with the Cardinals and ahead of the Panthers.

On a side note, the Steelers fans are vicious. They were name-calling and booing their rookie quarterback like he was their own personal enemy. I kept waiting for someone to take a shot at him from the stands.

As for the Bruins, they got beat 3-1.

I don't know why they got beat but they did.

They looked tired which is weird because they were off the previous day and they are at home. That means one day of practice and no travel. They should not have been tired.

Their next game is tomorrow against the Coyotes. The puck drops at 1:00pm

We decided to do some decorating today.

Our normal decorating usually is:
  1. Large Christmas tree in living room
  2. Small Christmas tree in family room
  3. Lights all around picture window
  4. Lights around lamp pole
  5. Lights on rails and posts on front porch
  6. Wreaths on carriage lights
  7. Large ornaments hanging on front porch
This year:
  1. Small Christmas tree in living room
  2. Lights at bottom of picture window
  3. Lights around lamp pole
  4. Wreaths on carriage lights
That is more than enough for us.

I'm going to make some dinner and then watch some DRVs

You can see if these are any good:

Thank goodness for hockey

I will be entertained by hockey this evening which is good because I am almost out of DVRs.

The Sabres are in Boston to take on the Bruins and, if I recall correctly, the Sabres are not having the best season.

Let's see... Yep, I recall correctly.

A quick check of the standings tells me that the Sabres are not having a very good season. They are a sub-.500 team that is currently at 10-14-2. The Bruins are a .771 team and are at 17-4-3.

Hopefully the Bruins continue to have their collective shit together and the don't let the Sabres improve their record. I'm also glad to hear they called up a kid from Providence to be the emergency backup goalie. Nothing against Tuukka but he hasn't been in a goal for more than two years.

Yes, I will flip over to the Patriots / Steelers game periodically. I have no intention of watching a lot of the game since I can already tell you the outcome, if not the actual score.

Oh, what the hell, I'll take a shot at predicting the actual score: I think the Steelers will beat the Patriots 6-0.

In the world of baseball, history repeats itself...

Back in 2017, the New York Yankees acquired Giancarlo Stanton from the Marlins and the media loved it, writing stuff like, "No big leaguers hit the ball harder in 2017 than Stanton and Judge, and now the hulking power hitters will be part of the same lineup".

Yesterday, the New York Yankees acquired Juan Soto from the Padres and the media loves it, writing stuff like, "Juan Soto-Aaron Judge pairing brings back balance".

Look, I'm not sure the Yankees are good enough to play any better than they did last season. Judge is still Judge, Stanton is still Stanton and Boone is still the manager. Adding Verdugo and Soto certainly gives them some good players but they still need pitching and they still need fielding.

I won't be surprised if the Yankees win the 2024 world series but I will also not be surprised if they end up in last place in the division. There are a lot of really big egos in that clubhouse and when that happens, they usually start playing like a bunch of individuals instead of a team.

The one thing I do know about baseball is that baseball is a team sport.

I decided to check my internet speeds today:
The top is my speed when plugged directly into the router using an ethernet cable and the bottom is my speed when connected to the router via wi-fi.

Maybe I need to sit closer to my router...

Time for some dinner and then some hockey.

The Red Sox are making some moves

This is a screen shot of a text conversation I had with my son this morning:

Verdugo is one of his favorite players...

Not much else to go on about so here are some links:
