Almost done

The color is a very light tan.

The Post-It™ notes are marking spots that need to be touched up with either some plaster and paint or just paint. That will be one of tomorrows task.

The other tasks will involve putting up the window blinds and the curtain rods. I'll also put all the shelves back into the book cases.

I'm assuming that once all those tasks are completed, my wife will put up her curtains and fill the shelves with "stuff".

I figure by Monday, this project will be done.

I went out last night to see the aurora but it was cloudy.

I'll be going out again tonight.

I realize you don't care about that but you might care about the CME that is pushing the aurora south to our location. It will probably interfere with the internet and cable television. It will definitely interfere with broadcast television and radio

The Guardians beat the Tigers this afternoon, taking game one of their ALDS series.

The Mets are beating the Phillies 6-1 in the ninth inning of game one of their NLDS series.

The Royals are beating the Yankees 1-0 in the third inning of game one of their ALDS series.

The Padres and the Dodgers will play game one of their NLDS series at 8:30 tonight.

Go Mets!

The divisionals are set

I fell asleep in the 7th inning last night and the Mets were down 2-0. When I snapped awake, I made the decision to go to bed so I turned the game off.

Imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning to find that the Mets had a "yuuuuge" comeback and ended up winning the game 4-2.

There is no baseball tonight and the ALDS kicks off tomorrow:

Go Mets!

Oh, and the so-called "experts" have weighed in with their predictions...

The wallpaper has been stripped off, all the damage/holes/tears have been patched, the walls have been sanded smooth and they have been primed.

Tomorrow I will paint four patches of sample paint. My wife has two colors she wants to see on the wall so I'll do two patches on the east wall and two patches on the west wall.

At some point, she will make a decision and we will purchase a gallon of the chosen color. That is when I will paint the walls, re-hang the blinds & the curtains and put this project behind me.

Things in the middle east are getting worse and worse. I suspect there will be more US involvement as things progress.

There are two things at play here: 1) The Israelis are pissed and 2) The religious nutjobs in Iran have decided to turn up the heat on everybody.

The end result of those two things will be a lot of dead people. Dead babies, dead children, dead women and dead men. Lot's of them.

Some of them will be Israelies, some will be Lebanese, some will be Palestinian but it's a pretty good bet that very few of them will be Iranian.

You see, Iran uses proxies to fight its battles. The leaders of Iran know they are on a tightrope. If they screw up and start geting Iranians killed, the people might just push them off just like they did to the Shah.

I've spent to the last two days going up & down a step ladder so now I'm going to take two ibuprofens and try to get my back to stop hurting.

One more game for the Mets

The Royals moved on, the Tigers moved on and the Padres moved on.

The Brewers, however, managed to beat the Mets last night, tying the series 1-1 and making tonights game a win-or-go-home kind of game.

Go Mets!

I got nothing else to talk about.

No, I did not watch the debate

It turns out the Bruins played the Flyers last night and NESN carried the game.

I did, however, read the news and, according to almost every news organization out there, it was a tie.

Oh sure, you got the folks at FOX claiming Vance is the best thing ever and was the "captain of the ship" or the folks at MSNBC claiming that Vance was a big fat doodyhead and Walz had a "standout win".

And that, my friends, is why I read stories about any event from at least four different news organizations..

So I guess in the end, I didn't miss much. Both guys were professional and treated each other with respect. They did not sling insults at each other and were actually in agreement on some things.

Maybe Vance should run for president instead of Trump...

As I mentioned, the Bruins took on the FLyers last night in their fifth preseason game and they won. The final score was 4-1 Bruins.

I'm still not sure what is going on with the Bruins goalie. They have two goalies but Swayman is still negotiating a contract so he's not playing. Technically, he's not a Bruin, he's a free agent. Just a guy who happens to be good at hockey but doesn't have any ice to play on.

I'm hoping they figure out something and both sides come to an agreement. It would be nice to have Swayman back in the net.

The Mets beat the Brewers 8-4 last night. They play at 7:30 tonight

The Tigers beat the Astros 3-1 last nights. They are playing now and the Tigers are up 1-0 in the 7th.

The Royals beat the Orioles 1-0 last night. They are playing now and it is 0-0 in the 1st.

The Padres beat the Braves 4-0 last night. They play at 8:30 tonight.

I love playoff baseball.

Charlie Hustle

Pete Rose passed away yesterday.

The man gave his heart and soul to Major League Baseball and to the Cincinnati Reds. He was, as far as I know, the last "player/manager" in baseball.

But he screwed up. He decided to place some bets. He bet on basketball, he bet on football and he bet the ponies but he denied betting baseball.

Well, maybe he did bet on baseball but he said he never bet on the Reds.

The MLB Commissioner, Bart Giamatti, didn't believe him and suspended Rose for life. This made him ineligible for consideration to the baseball Hall of Fame.

Pete Rose is the greatest player to never be in the Hall of Fame.

Speaking of dead people, I find it hard to believe that Willie Nelson outlived Kris Kristopherson. If Keith Richards outlives Mick Jagger, it'll be the harbinger of end-times.

Also, John Amos was a good actor.

No, I won't be watching the debate between Jimmy "It's not eyeliner! I'm mysterious!" Vance and Timmy "That guys is weird!" Walz.

Let's face it, neither one of them is going to say anything I want to hear. Vance is going to turn every question into a statement about the border and Walz is going to ramble on like my narcoleptic Uncle Joe.

I can hear them now:
  • "Senator Vance, what will the Trump administration do about the current state of the economy?"
  • "The problem is our borders. We'll get money from Mexico to build our wall and that will mean people will have jobs building our wall which means they'll earn money to pay those $400 weekly grocery bills and $3,000 monthly rents! And those walls will stop the bad people from eating our dogs! They eat all of our dogs all the time. And cats. They eat our cats! That's why they don't have $400 grocery bills!"

  • "Governor Walz, what will the Harris administration do about the current state of the economy?"
  • "Well, that guy over there is just weird. That other guy is weird too. And they smell funny. That guy has weird makeup on and the other guy has weird hair. I remember when my nephew Billy had weird hair, we all called him Weird Billy till he moved to Omaha. Weird place that Omaha. I went to Omaha once. They got weird barbecue. I like barbe... (Sound of head hitting podium and then snoring)."
So no, I will not be watching them. Instead I will be watching the Mets play the Brewers at 5:30 and then maybe a few innings of the Braves playing the Padres at 8:30.

It's an indication of the sad state of American politics when instead of watching a debate between two guys running for the second highest office in the nation, I will watch two baseball games that I could care less about...

The Tigers are currently beating the Astros in the 9th inning. This is good because I don't like the Astros.

The Royals and the Orioles are playing right now and it's 0-0 in the 5th inning.

The Mets and the Brewers game will start in about a half hour (5:30).

Go Mets!
