Syria has become another Afghanistan.

The so-called "rebel fighters" have started enforcing there own version of sharia law and it has become quite common for groups of "religious police" to roam the streets, flogging or whipping women who aren't covered from head-to-foot or are deemed to be behaving in a manner that violates the muslim faith.

It's also become common for these same "religious police" to execute people for blasphemy. They are shooting anyone that they feel is acting in a way that denegrates their religion. In other words, you are either a strict muslim or you are dead.
