We need a whole lot more rain than we got.

My guess is that we need at least a week of steady rain to fill the streams and reservoirs back up.

I drove over the south end bridge the other day on my way to Agawam and I noticed that the Connecticut River looks like it's down about 8 to 10 feet.

And even though 8-10 feet may not sound like a lot, trust me, it's a lot.

Let's chat a bit about Colorado versus Texas.

In Colorado, a deranged mentally deficient murderer walked into a movie theater, killed 12 people and wounded numerous others. Pundits and the media immediately began calling for tighter gun controls, governors around the nation ordered flags lowered to half mast, every bit of the victims lives have become national news and a reason to mourn and every politician on the planet is busy issuing statements to help themselves get re-elected.

In Texas, a deranged mentally deficient murderer loaded 23 people into a pickup truck and smashed them into a tree at a high rate of speed, killing 13 of them (including two babies) and injuring the others. Pundits and the media are not calling for tighter Ford F-250 restrictions, governors could care less about the dead, there will be no lowering of flags and there isn't a poitician on the planet that wants to get anywhere near this because the victims were all illegals.

The major differences here are that the first twelve were killed by a gun and they were citizens. The second thirteen were killed by a car and they were not citizens.

I'm thinking our society is a little screwed up. Not because we mourn for the twelve but because we ignore the thirteen.

Just sayin' is all....
