They got their butts kicked last night.

The Red Sox and the Yankees are once again tied for first because the Yankees kicked the Red Sox ass last night.

Hopefully tonight goes better.

Today was a bit warm but tomorrow is supposed to be substantially warmer. Like in the 100s warmer.

Thank goodness for Mr. Carrier's invention.

I'm going to continue to enjoy my AC and watch some baseball.

And so it begins

The Red Sox are in New York to play a three game series against the Yankees.

They currently have a one game lead in the ALEast and if they can take 2 out of 3 from the Yankees, they will leave New York with two game lead.

The best thing would be for them to sweep the Yankees and leave New York with a four game lead.

Unfortunately, as I type this the score is 1-0 Yankees in the second so it's not a good start for the Red Sox.

Either way, you can bet I'll be watching all three games.

I ended up at Johns restaurant/bar today because he was having a problem with his WiFi. Seems the patrons on the outdoor deck couldn't get a signal because the WiFi router was on the other side of the building in the basement.

Fortunately for John, his primary router was a Netgear and I happened to have an old Netgear router sitting in a box in my basement.

Netgear is one of those companies that recognized the need to extend the WiFi signal in an nice way and provided a method to turn a WiFi router into a WiFi access point that acts as an extension of the primary WiFi router.

I turned my old Netgear into an access point, set it's name and password, plugged it into the existing network and presto, he had a drastically improved wireless network in all areas of his bar.

They are in first place.

The Red Sox managed to hold off the Angels last night and they won 9-6.

The Yankees weren't so fortunate and they ended up losing to the Phillies 3-0.

That means the Red Sox are back in first place by half a game.

The Yankees are off tonight so if the Red Sox beat the Angels again, they will take a full game lead in first place just as they go to New York to for a three game series against the Yankees starting tomorrow.

I'm hoping they take at least two of the three against the Yankees.

We got more than little rain today and I'm not going to complain. My lawn can use the water.

Unfortunately, the rain is leaving us and it's being replaced by high heat and humidity.

I hate humidity.

They won last night

The Red Sox beat the Angels 9-1 last night. Even Bradley was hitting the baseball.

We managed to move some old furniture into the basement today in anticipation of delivery of some new furniture tomorrow.

I can't help but notice that as I get older, my desire to move furniture around is lessening.

A lot.

Despite the lack of rain, I decided to mow my lawn today.

They claim it's going to rain tonight and throughout the day tomorrow and that got me to thinking that if I didn't mow it today, I would definitely have to mow it when we have temps exceeding 95°

I don't want to mow my lawn when it's 95°.

Now I'm going to watch some baseball.

Short day

Not much to prattle on about tonight.

I am on vacation until next Monday and I'm going try and get some things done around the house.

I'm also going to try and get some flying in.

I'm going to watch some baseball.

No, I didn't forget

I spent some time this evening installing new burners and anti-flare tents on my gas grill.

The grill is not terribly old but it does get a lot of use. As a result, the innards have burned/rusted out in some spots and it was time to repair/replace.

I was originally going to try and find OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts from Sears (It's a Kenmore grill) but man, I found out pretty quick that there's a reason those guys are going out of business.

To replace all of the parts I need to replace, it was going to cost me in excess of $200.

I can buy a new grill for $300.

Fortunately, my Amazon Kung Fu is strong and I was able to find replacement parts from various sellers for around $90.00. After you subtract the $30.00 in Amazon points we have accrued over the last few months, I got everything I needed for $60.00.

I'm still waiting on the cooking grates to arrive but the burners and the anti-flare tents are in and working like a brand new grill.

No Red Sox tonight so I'm watching the Yankees - Phillies game on MLB.

If the Yankees lose, the Red Sox will be in first place. If the Yankees win, they will be in first place.

I'm hoping they lose.

The game is on Fox tonight

I hate when Fox carries the baseball game because they run a lot of commercials and the announcers talk way too much about things they no nothing about.

Oh well, it's still baseball.

Speaking of which, the Red Sox won last night and the Yankees lost. That means the Red Sox are now one game behind the Yankees. And as I write this, the Yankees are down 4-0 to the Rays in the eighth inning.

If the Red Sox win tonight, they'll once again be tied for first.

I'm going to watch the game.

They are two games behind the Yankees

They won today but lost last night. In the meantime, the Yankees have won their last four games.

Still, all things considered, they are on-pace for a season with 110 wins.

That, my friends, is a hell of a season.

As for me, I'm still picking those damned gypsy moth caterpillars off my tree. I put more vaseline on the plastic tube around the trunk and my daughter picked up some neem oil for me. I'll be spraying the tree this evening when she gets home from work..

Hopefully the fresh vaseline and neem oil will continue to keep the little bastards off my tree.

Once again, they are a game behind the Yankees

The lead in the ALEast has changed more times than Elizabeth Taylors marital status. Now it's the Yankees who are in first place. Give it a few days and that will change again.

It was a nice day off for me today. And since I have a couple of vacation days I need to burn up before July 1st, I'm thinking about taking the next two Fridays off.

I like my job.

I'm going to watch some baseball and fall asleep early tonight.

I stopped and ran into Pat!

Yes, he is still alive.

I got a call from my buddies Tommy and Brian suggesting that I stop for beverages. I concurred with them but informed them I would be late. I got there around 5:30 and hung out with them for a bit but since they were pretty much done for the evening, they left to go home around 6:00. I still had a beer sitting in front of me so I settled in to finish that.

About that time, Pat came wandering over and sat down with me.

We spent 20 minutes catching up on how he was doing and it seems he is doing pretty damned well.

And that, my friends, is how my evening went.

Now I'm going to watch baseball and fall asleep.

Once again, we were under a tornado watch this afternoon. Fortunately it passed without incidence and for that I am grateful.

I am not a fan of tornados.

Today was .20 cents off a gallon at FLRoberts so after work I took my daughters car to fill it and took my car to fill it.

I miss the cent sign (¢).

Happy Fathers Day

Today was toasty but tomorrow is supposed to be furnace-like. Thank goodness I have a few of Willis Carrier's invention and my home is comfortable.

Speaking of the heat, you gotta love New England.

Today it was 90° but six months ago I was posting pictures like this:

The Red Sox managed to beat the Mariners and the Rays managed to beat the Yankees. That means the Red Sox and the Yankees are once again tied for first place.

The Red Sox split their four game series against the Mariners. I would rather they win 3 out of 4 but I'll settle for a 2-2 series.

They have a travel day tomorrow when they will travel to Minnesota to start a three game series against the Twins on Tuesday

I am now going to digest my excellent Fathers Day dinner and watch bad television.

And they lost

I didn't watch any of the game last night but I did watch the replay this afternoon. I knew they were going to lose before I put the game on but I wanted to watch it anyways.

They had the lead while Porcello was pitching but things went down hill as soon as the bullpen took over.

Hembree gave up a home run in the seventh inning to bring the Mariners within one run. Barnes came in for the eighth inning and gave up two more runs, giving the Mariners a one run lead.

The Red Sox could do nothing against the Mariners in the ninth and the game ended 7-6 in favor of the Mariners.

Unfortunately, the Yankees won last night, meaning they were tied for first place. Then this afternoon, the Yankees beat the Rays, giving them a half game lead over the Red Sox.

Tonights game is on at 8:00 so I might make actually be able to watch s few innings.

The Red Sox need to win.

I considered going flying today but decided to hold off until Wednesday or next weekend. As much as I'd like to fly every week, it's a little expensive so every week would drain the account pretty fast.

I don't want to drain the account too fast.

Still up by a game

Despite the fact I didn't stay awake to watch the game and offer my sage coaching advice, they managed to win last nights game. I watched the highlights online and it looked like Price pitched a pretty good game.

They need him to keep pitching good games.

My lawn has stopped growing and I'm not sure if I should be happy about that or concerned about drought. I'm happy because I no longer have to mow it every four days but worried because I kinda liked having a green lawn and now it's starting to look a little less green.

Maybe I'll start watering it a bit.

Then again, what the hell, I like not mowing it every four days.

This made me laugh out loud:

I'm going to watch some Storage Wars and then see if I can watch an inning or two of baseball.

No baseball for me tonight

The Red Sox are in Seattle to play the Mariners. Unfortunately, the game doesn't start until 10:00 tonight so I won't be watching it.

They did win yesterday and the Yankees lost so the Red Sox are now in first place by a full game.

At least I think they are ahead by a full game.

It's hard to tell because the Yankees have been rained out so many times, they have played six fewer games than the Red Sox. The Yankees have a higher percentage of wins but they also have a higher percentage of losses.

It's weird but then again, it's baseball. The only game that is played on a field with no set dimensions and no time limit. Technically, a game can go on forever.

That's weird.

No, I didn't make to the end of the game

Turns out they only played nine innings last night but it took them more than four hours to play those nine innings. I fell asleep on my couch somewhere around 10:00 and woke up at 11:00 to see the final out being made.

Todays game started at 3:00 so even if it does go four hours, I'll still be able to watch the whole thing.

I managed to get my lawn mowed before the rain arrived today, which is nice. This having a day off in the middle of the week is great. I highly recommend it.

So it's back to work for me tomorrow and Friday before I'm off for the weekend.

I may have mentioned this but in case you forgot, I really like this job.

I'm going to watch the end of the ball game, make a little dinner and then figure out what DVR I should watch. Maybe I'll watch one of the many Storage Wars I have recorded.

Late night baseball last night

When I went to bed last night, the score was 0-0 in the 10th inning and it looked like neither team wanted to win.

When I woke up this morning, I found out that by the 12th inning, Holt and Bradley decided they'd had enough and they each drove in a run, making the final score 2-0 in favor of the Red Sox.

Tonight I will stay awake to watch as many innings as possible because tomorrow is Wednesday and it's my day off.

It's nice having extra days off.

I'll try to remember to publish this evening

So the Yankees lost last night which means the Red Sox are still half a game behind. Tonight the Red Sox start a road trip with three games against the Orioles.

Betts is returning to the lineup tonight and I'm hopeful that he'll be swinging that bat like the home run hitting machine he was before he went out with his injury.

Hopefully the Red Sox win all three games and the Yankees end up losing both of their games against the Nationals.

Tonight was chinese food night.

We all like chinese food night.

I forgot to click "Publish" last night after I finished typing.

Guess I'm getting old.

Here's what I wrote:

I should have gone flying again today.

A milky sky means no radiational heating over highways so nice smooth air. No wind means fighting a cross wind or windshear when landing. And finally, no bright sun means the cabin isn't turned into a solar oven.

Oh well, at least I got some flight time in yesterday.

I really need to start flying more often.

The Red Sox managed to lose this afternoon, putting them a full game behind the Yankees.

If the Yankees win their game this evening, they will take a one and a half game lead over the Red Sox. If the Yankees lose, they will maintain that half game lead.

I'm really hoping the Yankees lose.

Very nice day

As a mater of fact, it was such a nice day that there was no way I was not going to spend some of it 2,000 feet up in the air.

I got slightly more than an hour of flight time in the pattern this afternoon and it was perfect. I got in 3 touch & go's and 5 full-stop landings, all of which were pretty damned good. No bounces, no hard thumps and no sideways approaches.

I love flying.

We are in the process of replacing the wallpaper border in our family room. My wife found a border she really likes and today we spent an hour or so peeling off the old border. The wall is no clean and ready for it's new adornment so tomorrow, I will put new blades in my utility knife and commence to wallpapering.

Putting a border up is pretty easy but I still need to match up the pattern. It has a 1 foot repeat so I don't anticipate much in the way of loss.

I do, however, anticipate a sore back on Monday morning.

The Red Sox lost last night and are now half a game behind the Yankees.

As I type, todays game is in the fifth inning and the score is 4-2, Red Sox. Hopefully they win today's game and the Mets are nice enough to beat the Yankees tonight. That will put the Red Sox back in first.

I'm going to finish watching this ball game and then find something else to occupy my time.

Yes, there is a post tonight.

I didn't get home until almost 8:00 last night so that was why no post.

We were originally planning on going to a party for a friend tonight but we had a last-minute change of plans and decided that staying home would be best.

All of that means that you get an update this evening.

The Red Sox had a youngster pitching for them last night named Beeks. he did pretty good for his first time in the majors but they managed to lose. I don't think it was because his pitching sucked. I think it was because the Tigers were hitting the ball.

They showed some of his pitched in slo-mo replay and they were great pitches. The Tiger batter however were swinging the bat in the right spots and hitting those pitches a ton.

They are hosting the White Sox tonight and Sale is pitching. Hopefully things go the Red Sox way this evening and they win. They are only ½ a game ahead of the Yankees right now so a loss would be a bad thing.

Update on my tree:

Between my plastic ring covered in vaseline and my neighbor's neem oil spray, the little bastards are being kept at bay and there is no additional damage to any of the leaves.

This has been your update on my tree. We now return you to your regularly scheduled program.

Have I mentioned that I'm living with Felix Unger?

My daughters little dog appears to have a slight allergy and the pollen makes her "snork" every so often. It's like when Felix would try to clear his sinuses and it's just as amusing.

While Felix the Wonder Dog snorks in my ear, I'm going to watch the Red Sox play baseball.

I'm going to like this

This having every Wednesday off during the summer is going to spoil me. It's like a mini-weekend but in the middle of the week.

Add to that the fact that I'm using some vacation time up and taking Friday off means I'll work on Thursday and then be off for three days.

I really like this job.

The Red Sox won last night and I'm hoping they win again tonight.

They still maintain that one game lead over the Yankees but the Yankees are probably going to beat the Blue Jays tonight so the Red Sox need to beat the Tigers again.

I will be watching tonights game but I'm hoping it's a clear blowout somewhere around the fifth inning because I'll probably be falling asleep around the sixth or seventh inning.

I'm tired.

I'm not surprised the Eagles didn't show up

Donald Trump is an arrogant, self-centered authoritarian who makes inflammatory remarks over social media and treats his employees like they were idiots. Why does he feign surprise when a group of individuals decides to not go visit him?

No one wants to hang out with a bully.

I'm going to watch the entire game of baseball tonight because we started summer hours this week and that means I am only working four days a week. I'm taking every Wednesday off unless something comes up that I need to be there for.

Have I mentioned I really like my job....

No baseball tonight

They won last night, splitting the four game series with the Astros. Today was a travel day and they are back in Boston tomorrow to start a three game series against the Tigers. After that it's three games against the Orioles.

As for me, I'm tired.

I didn't drink any booze at the wedding yesterday so I'm not hungover but I did drink a lot of ginger ale. This meant I was awake every hour to take a leak. This is why I'm tired.

It's tough to get old.

I sincerely hope he is right.

Too many injuries

Ramirez is gone, Betts is on the DL, Pedroia is on the DL and Bradley is still not hitting the ball like he should be. That means they aren't scoring like they should.

Price is a head case, Pomeranz & Procello are pitching like crap and Sale is having too many of those "uncharacteristic outings". That means their opponents are scoring runs.

They lost last night and are now only half a game ahead of the Yankees. If they keep on this path, they will end up giving the lead to the Yankees.

They need to start hitting the ball and their pitchers need to get back on track.

We have gone into full "move the furniture around" mood here at our dwelling.

I came home last night a redesigned family room and then today we moved furniture around in various configurations that seem to have brought much joy to the ladies that I live with.

Oh, and I also managed to get my backyard mowed.

I am concerned about my new little tree. The damned gypsy moth caterpillars seem to have found it and they have begun dining on it. I picked about 12 or 15 of them off of it and then took a plastic tube, covered it with vaseline and stuck it around the trunk.

Hopefully that prevents the little bastards from getting to my tree.
