I'm a pessimist.

I know the Red Sox are tearing up the game and I'm loving every minute of it but the bottom line in all of this is they will slump at some point. And we all need to mentally prepare for that event.

At some point in the next two months, they will go through a losing streak. It's bound to happen.

Sale will have two or three bad outings, Price will be Price, Betts and/or Martinez will go 0-10 at the plate, Benintendi will start hitting into double plays, etc...

They have been playing full out and it's starting to show with minor injuries. Something will happen and it will pull on their collective mental tendons and they will go into a slump.

I expect it and if I'm wrong, I will be the first to celebrate how wrong I was.

The problem with being a pessimist is that we are right more the 50% of the time.

If they can keep this pace up until the last pitch is thrown and he last out is made without going through a slump, it will make them one of the best teams ever seen in the MLB.

It will make them awesome.

Enough speculation. Let's talk about tonight's game

The game will be carried by those idiots over at ESPN which means it won't start until after 8:00 tonight.

It also means we get to listen to those two idiots on ESPN, Vasgersian and Rodriguez, fawn all over Mendoza like two 14 year old boys trying to get into  the prom queen's pants.

But more importantly, Price will be on the mound and historically, the Yankees own him. They kick his ass every time he pitches against them. I think it's a mental thing with him - he stands on the mound and when the Yankee batters step up to the plate, he looks up and sees giants with telephone poles in their hands.  This makes him gets all weak-kneed & fluffy-armed and he ends up throwing the baseball right over the heart of the plate at speeds my partially paralyzed grandmother could hit.

Hopefully tonight will be different. Judge is on the DL, Stanton has been less than perfect at the plate lately (although he did go 2-4 yesterday) and their wunderkin, Gleyber Torres, seems to be a little bit intimidated by the Red Sox pitchers.

Perhaps young Mr. Price will stand on the mound and not see giant horned baseball demons at the plate.

Perhaps he will throw hard and pick the corners.

Perhaps his slider will disappear on the batter and his curve will have an amazing vertical drop.

Hey, I'm trying to be positive here. Work with me on this, will ya.
