I like extra days off.

My daughter came home last Friday and she's heading back to school on Tuesday so I took today off to hang out with her.

Oh, and since she sleeps until noon when she's home, I was able get some yard work done as well.

I wish I was able to sleep until noon.

I listened to John Farrell's press conference today on WEEI and he announced the starting pitcher will be Jon Lester.

He also talked about what the team in general and I gotta tell you that when John Farrell talks about the Red Sox players, he sounds like a proud dad.

He loves those guys.

• In other baseball news, MLB announced that someone named Blige will be singing the National Anthem at Fenway on Wednesday. I hope she isn't one of those 'make the song my own' kind of singers. It's the National Anthem fer cripes sake. Sing it the way it's supposed to be sung, dammit.
