Another win

The Bruins pushed hard and came from behind to tie the game in the third period last night. Then they won the game in a sudden-death period, beating the Panthers 3-2.

This gives them a 8-0-1 record and a total of 17 points.

On the down side, McAvoy decided that it would be a good idea to drive his shoulder in the head of Panther defenseman Ekman-Larsson, drawing what is known as a "match penalty". This results in a five minute penalty for the team and the offending player (McAvoy) is removed from the game.

It will more than likely mean McAvoy will be suspended for some number of games and/or be fined.

A check to the head is considered extremely dangerous and this was no accident. McAvoy deliberately drove his shoulder up into Ekman-Larsson's head while moving at a pretty good clip.

Next game is Thursday when they welcome the Maple Leafs into the Garden. Puck drops at 7:30

In the world of baseball, the Rangers beat the Diamondbacks 3-1 last night and have taken a 2-1 series lead.

I didn't see a lot of the game but it looks like pitching might have been a problem for the Diamondbacks. Their starter, Pfaadt, went 5⅓ innings, but he gave up three earned runs and two walks while striking out only four batters.

They will be at it again this evening for game four of the series and the Diamondbacks need to win. They can't go back to Arlington behind in the series.

It appears that Donald "Help! I'm talking and I can't shut up!" Trump has interpreted the judges gag order to mean he can't type on his truth thingeee anymore but it's okay for him to put out seven (that's right, seven) videos of him talking about how everything that is happening to him is Biden's fault.

Goofy Joe is a boob and I'm pretty sure I'm more ethical than he is but Trump's problems all stem directly from Trump and his belief that he can do whatever he wants whenever he wants. Even when what he wants is against the law.

Time to figure out what to have for dinner and then hand out candy to disguised children.

Baseball and hockey

Once again, I will be focused on the Panthers / Bruins game while still keeping an eye on the Rangers / Diamondbacks game.

I kind of like having too many sportings to watch.

Trump still can't shut the hell up and now he says he's our favorite president...

I'm going to watch some hockey and some baseball. I'm also going to fall asleep early.

Yay sports!

The Bruins beat the Red Wings 4-1 last night. It was a good game to watch and I was pretty pleased to see they only had 10 minutes of penalty time.

In my humble opinion, it's always better to have five players on the ice for as much of the game as possible.

The Bruins remain at home where tomorrow they will play the Panthers.

As for baseball, the Diamondbacks tied the series 1-1 by beating up on the Rangers 9-1.

I didn't watch a lot of that game because there was hockey to be watched but what I did see of it showed me that the Diamondbacks have a hell of a pitcher in that kid Merrill Kelly.

Kelly went seven innings, gave up one earned run, walked none and struck out nine. That is a pretty good stat line.

With the series tied 1-1, both teams head to Phoenix today. They pick it up again tomorrow at 8:00.

The Patriots were in Miami to play the Dolphins this afternon and it went about as well as I expected.

Ther Patriots scored first when they intercepted the ball and marched down field to eventually score a touchdown.

That would be the only lead the Patriots would have during the game. The Dolphins beat the Patriots 31-17.

Let's be clear on something:

A 'mistake' is when you set the toaster to dark and burn the toast.

A 'mistake' is when you see someone you recognize, tap them on the shoulder and when they turn towards you, you see it is not who you thought it was.

This is not a 'mistake'.

That is just plain evil and Alford Lewis should be in prison for felony assault & battery with malice aforethought.

Another day where things got done

Which means I did not spend a lot of time surfing the interwebs.

I did, however, find this:

He just can't shut up.

It's been a terrible month for the DJIA -

Actually, now that I look at it, it's been a terrible year for the DJIA -

Guess I picked a bad year to retire...

The Rangers beat the Diamondbacks 6-5 last night but it took them 11 innings to do it.

I have a feeling this is going to be an interesting world series and I predict it will go all seven games.

Baked cod for dinner tonight. That will be followed by baseball.

Busy day

Things got done today that didn't involve the internet. That means I don't have a lot for you.

The Bruins lost to the Ducks last night in overtime. That means they still earned one point for the regulation tie.

I was able to watch almost two periods before I headed off to bed between periods. I really thought the Bruins were going to win because they were up 3-1 when I went to bed.

Tomorrow night they play the Red Wings. The puck drops at 7:00pm.

Now I'm going to watch a few innings of the World Series.

Golf day

Pat, Willie and myself spent part of the day on the golf course and it was beautiful.

Our game sucked but the day was beautiful.

This may have been the last round of the season for us but I'm holding off putting my clubs away until some time in November on the off chance we get a nice day or two and we decide to head out.

Turns out my fear of the new speaker being one of those idiots who think Trump won the 2020 election are really no big deal because it looks like a lot of those guys are part of the Trump cult.

Except for Willard.

Romney really hates Trump. Maybe it's because Trump kept calling him a "loser".

I have once again removed all the leaves from my yard.

Time for dinner and then hockey.

Six games - six wins

The Bruins defeated the Blackhawks last night 3-0.

I'd like to say that their 6-0 record is the best in the league right now but that would be a lie because the Avalanche have a 6-0 record and the Golden Knights are 7-0.

Basically, there are three teams that are currently undefeated and it's nice to see that the Bruins are one of them.

They are on their way home today and tomorrow they will play the Ducks at 7:00pm

The Diamondbacks beat the Phillies last night and they will take on the Rangers in game one of the World Series on Friday night.

That is all that needs to be said about that.

In other baseball news, the Red sox have hired a new GM.

Craig Breslow will be rejoining the organization just in time to start the off-season attempts to rebuild the team into one capable of playing at the major league level. I say rejoining because Breslow was a pitcher for the Red Sox back in 2006-2007 and then again in 2012-2015.

It's going to be an interesting off-season.

Looks like we finally have a Speaker of the House.

I'm not sure who Mike Johnson is but I do know he seems to spend some time pushing for an investigation of Goofy Joe's son, Hunter Biden.

And once again, Trump needed to stick his nose into the pot. After the first guy Trump backed, Jordan, got blasted, he jumped on this guys bandwagon.

Oh, and the same idiot who a week ago said, "We must now come together to elect Jim Jordan" is now saying, "To everyone who said I didn’t have a plan: This guy has been sitting next to me for seven years on the House Judiciary Committee. I hope my mentorship has rubbed off."

I don't have a good feeling about this guy. I'm pretty sure he was one of those "Trump won!" conspiracy theory congressmen. I also don't think he is smart enough to realize that being mentored by Gaetz is not a good thing.

There are no sportings for me to watch this evening but I have a bunch of DVRs.

Another game seven

The Rangers won last night, taking the ALCS pennant and moving on to the World Series. Turns out that was the big story last night. Turns out the big story is that the Astros have terrible fans who don't support their team.
It is kind of interesting that someone would spend thousands of dollars for a seat behind home plate only to leave well before the game was over.

In other baseball news, the Diamondbacks beat the Phillies last night, forcing a game seven in the NLCS. That game will be played at 8:00 tonight.

The World Series starts on Friday night with the Rangers as the home team.

Go Diamondbacks!

Yes, there is hockey.

The Bruins will play the Blackhawks at 8:30 tonight and I'm hoping to watch a at least the first period.

Here are some links:

Winner take all

There are two baseball games tonight.

Game six of the NLCS is at 5:00 with the Phillies up 3-2 over the Diamondbacks. That means this evenings game is "win or go home" for the Diamondbacks.

Game seven of the ALCS is tonight at 8:00 with the Astros and Rangers tied 3-3. That means the winner of tonights game will win the pennant and move on to the World Series.

I would like to see a Diamondbacks / Rangers world series. Torey Lovullo vs. Bruce Bochy would be a good matchup. Only problem is Bochy takes forever to walk to the mound when he wants a pitcher change. He's only 68 years old but he walks like a 90 year old.

I spent my day at The Vets watching two guys install a central air unit.

They did a good job and now she no longer needs to put air conditioners in her windows.
I'm a little jealous...

After that, I used my lawn tractor to pick up all the leaves that were all over my lawn.

Wins for everybody!

Last night, the Bruins beat the Kings 4-2 with Swayman stopping 32 of 34 shots for a .941 save percentage.

They are still putting up a lot of penalty minutes. They gave the Kings six power plays over 17 minutes which, once again, is almost a full period of short handed play.

They are still in California and tonight they play the Ducks. That game starts at 8:30 so I'm hoping that I'll be able to watch two periods.

Still, they are undefeated with four wins over four games. That is a pretty good way to start the season.

As for the Patriots, I was shocked to see Jones moving the ball well, the offensive line providing good pass protection and the defense playing like they mattered.

The Patriots scored first with a field goal and then intercepted the ball on the next play. That interception led to an eventual touchdown, giving the Patriots a 10-0 lead in the first quarter.

They went into halftime with the Patriots up 13-3 and then came out for the second half playing hard.

Unfortunately, the Bills played just as hard and, with 18 seconds left in the clock, the Bills were up 25-22. Fortunately, the Patriots had the ball on the 1 yard line and they had four downs to play within that 18 seconds.

The first play was a pass that went long and out of bounds. The second play was also a pass and it was right on the money. This meant the Patriots went up 28-25.

They kicked the extra point and, with 12 seconds left on the clock, the Patriots were up 29-25.

They punted the ball into the end zone and the Bills took over at their 25. They tried one hail-mary pass which was incomplete and burned up 7 seconds, leaving 5 seconds on the clock.

The final play of the game was a junk attempt at another hail-mary but it never happened when the Bills quarterback, Allen, basically tripped and dropped the ball.

The game ended with the Patriots getting their second win of the season.

In other football news, I'm pleased to announce that I'm going to watch the rest of the Steelers / Rams game and maybe flip over to the Chiefs / Chargers game every so often.

The Rangers need to step it up

The Astros won last night, giving them a 3-2 advantage in the best of seven. If they win tomorrow, they win the ALCS pennant and move on to the World Series. The Rangers need to win tomorrow night or start their vacations a little earlier than they expected.

As for the Diamondbacks, they beat the Phillies last night, tying the series 2-2.

They are back at it again tonight at 8:00.

Generally speaking, both series have been pretty good to watch.

Looks like Trumps lackey, Jordan, has decided to withdraw from consideration for the position of Speaker of the House.

This means they get to start all over again with some new guy.

As for the idiots that started all this with their vote to remove McCarthy as speaker, well they wrote a letter:
The best line in that collection of pure bullshit is:
The actions we took were never about us...

Yes they were. Your actions were all about you and what you want. Particularly Gaetz.

He started this because he thought he could get his way. That congress would have no choice but to do what he wants done. Much like Tuberville and his self-centered idiotic decision to hold up military promotions, Gaetz used his Gang of Eight cabal to attempt to get a Trumpeee in as Speaker.

The republicans need to expel those people from their party. In much the same way the democrats need to expel those self-centered arrogant "Squad" idiots from their party. You know the ones I'm talking about.

The trees in my backyard have popped.

Three games, three wins

Even though I was sound asleep, the Bruins managed to beat the Sharks 3-1 last night.

I can't tell you about the game but I can tell you that Ullmark saved 26 of the 27 shots the Sharks took against him. That's a save percentage of .963% which is a damned good save percentage.

Their next game is tomorrow against the Kings and, once again, I will not be watching it because it doesn't start until 10:30. That is way past my bedtime.

In the world of baseball, the Diamondbacks beat the Phillies and the Astros beat the Rangers.

In the ALCS, the Rangers and Astros are now tied 2-2 and they play again this evening at 5:00 pm.

In the NLCS, the Phillies are up 2-1 over the Diamondbacks and the play again tonight at 8:00 pm.

I redid my piss-poor math and discovered that I have been incorrectly counting the number of days without a Speaker of the House.

McCarthy was tossed on the afternoon of October 3rd and today is October 20th. That means the Speakers office has been vacant for 16 days. (I don't count the 3rd.)

Day 16 without a Speaker of the House:
12:06:32 PM     ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULT OF ROLL CALL 525 - The Chair announced that no persons having received a majority of the whole number of votes cast by surname in the Election of the Speaker, a Speaker was not elected.
I'm still uindecided if this is a bad thing or a good thing.

The Astros remembered how to play

I guess all the Astros needed was to get out of their ballpark and play in Arlington because they beat the Rangers 8-5 last night.

It seems kind of odd that they lose at home but win on the road...

The Phillies are in Phoenix to play the Diamondbacks in game three of the NLCS at 5:00 this evening and the ALCS Astros / Rangers game will be at 8:00.

There is hockey tonight but I will not be watching it. The Bruins are in San Jose, California to take on the Sharks and the game doesn't start until 10:00 pm. Trust me, that is too late for me.

Guess I'll have to find out what happened tomorrow morning.

Day 14 without a Speaker of the House.

Our elected officials in action:
  • 12:00:00 PM The House convened, starting a new legislative day.
  • 12:03:38 PM Today's prayer was offered by the House Chaplain, Chaplain Margaret Grun Kibben.
  • 12:05:17 PM The Speaker announced approval of the Journal. Pursuant to clause 1, rule I, the Journal stands approved.
  • 12:05:29 PM PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE - The Chair designated Mr. Higgins of NY to lead the Members in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
  • 12:05:55 PM The Speaker announced that the House do now recess. The next meeting is subject to the call of the Chair.
They put in a whole six minutes today before deciding they wouldn't waste their time on a third vote for Speaker.

Found this and laughed. I figure you might laugh too.

Time for me to watch some baseball and figure out what to make for dinner.

Time to find out what they can do.

With last nights win over the Diamondbacks, the Phillies are up 2-0 in the series. They are off tonight while both teams travel to Phoenix where the Diamondbacks will be playing in their own ballpark.

If the Diamondbacks lose when they have home field advantage, it's a pretty good bet they didn't deserve to be in the playoffs in the first place. They need to step it up and win these next three home games so when they return to Philadelphia, they have a fighting chance.

The ALCS continues tonight at 8:00 with the Rangers starting their home game portion of the series and holding a two game lead. I'm no expert but I'm thinking that since the Rangers won both away games, they'll probably win all three of their home games as well.

On the other hand, the Astros lost both of their home games so things are not looking good for them.

Day 13 of no Speaker of the House:
1:16:42 PM       ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULT OF ROLL CALL 523 - The Chair announced that no persons having received a majority of the whole number of votes cast by surname in the Election of the Speaker, a Speaker was not elected.
Morons. They are all morons who are looking out for only themselves and their particular gang.

Time to eat some dinner and watch some bad television.

Two good games

With last nights win, the Rangers are now up 2-0 on the Astros in the ALCS. It was a good game to watch with a lot of great plays. They are off today while both teams travel the 230 miles from Houston to Arlington, Texas where tomorrow they will play game three.

As for the NLCS, the Phillies won last, taking game one in their series against the Diamondbacks. They are back at it again this evening at 8:00pm and I will watch as much as I can.

As for football, no, I did not watch any of the Cowboys / Chargers game last night. I can't stand the Cowboys and I don't care about the Chargers.

The Patriots had this front page story on their website:
I'm pretty sure he's not going to find any answers while wandering around, staring aimlessly at some wind-blown papers.

We still don't have a Speaker of the House.

This is the entry from todays House of Representatives clerks log:
I'm still not sure how I feel about that. On the one hand, if they can't conduct business, they can't screw things up anymore than they already are but on the other hand, they also cannot get things done that need doing.

Before I leave you, I have a book recommendation for you: ARTEMIS by Andy Weir.

Stick a fork in them

The Patriots are done.

With yesterday's loss to the Raiders, the Patriots are now 1-5, tied for last place in the AFC with the Broncos. That is not something they should be proud of and it isn't something they will overcome.

There are eleven games left in their season and even if they win six of those games, they will still have 7-10 record. Based on everything I've seen so far, they don't really stand a chance of winning six of those games.

It's time for Kraft to make some changes. It's time for Belichick to step out of his GM role. I believe he is still a good coach but he sucks at picking talent.

For instance, I pointed out to Pat that they got beat by three ex-Patriots yesterday - Meyers, Garoppolo and Hoyer.

In 2018, Belichick traded Garoppolo to the 49ers for a second round draft pick. He used that pick to draft a guy named Duke Dawson. Ever heard of him? Neither have I. That's because he never played a single minute for the Patriots and the following season Belichick traded Dawson to the Broncos for a sixth round draft pick.

Using that sixth round pick, they drafted Justin Herron, another guy you probably never heard of because he went directly on to the IR and the Patriots traded him the following year for another sixth round pick.

So basically, Bill traded Garoppolo for a sixth round draft pick.

Hoyer was the backup quarterback for Newton which is a shame because he was a better quarterback than Newton and he should have been playing. Instead the Patriots released him this past March and he was picked up by the Raiders.

As for Meyers, he hit free agency at the end of last season and Bill never made him a decent offer. Meyers was made a legitimate offer by the Raiders and the rest is history.

I'm not saying those three guys beat the Patriots all by themselves but I am saying those three guys a played a big part in the Raiders win.

In baseball news, the Rangers beat the Astros yesterday and are now up 1-0 in their best-of-seven ALCS. Game two started at 4:37 which is just about the same time I posted this.

The Phillies and Diamondbacks will start their best-of-seven NLCS series tonight at 8:00.

Go Diamondbacks!

My lawn is mowed and all the leaves have been removed.

Well, there were no leaves right now. I fully expect to wake up tomorrow to find a lot of leaves but that's okay. My goal is to not let so many leaves get on the lawn that I have to spend an entire day raking.

I hate raking.

Two games, two wins

The Bruins managed to hold on to their one goal lead last night and beat the Predators 3-2.

I thought Swayman had a pretty good night, stopping 33 of 35 shots.

One thing I did notice was a lot of penalties. The Bruins spent 14 minutes sitting in the box. Since a period is only 20 minutes, they basically played ¾ of a period shorthanded.

They need to get those penalty minutes under control.

The Patriots are once again playing like crap. They are in the half and the score is 13-3 in favor of the Raiders.

It's painful to watch them play football. They usually fail to move the ball either in the air or on the ground and then kick a terrible punt that puts their opponent on the 35 or 40 yard line.

When they do move the ball, it gets called back on a penalty.

They had one drive in the second quarter where they not only moved the ball, they actually got within field goal range and then, as shocking as it seems, they actually kicked a field goal.

Since the Chiefs played last Thursday (beating the Broncos 19-8) and the Steelers are on a bye week, this is it for my footballing experience this weekend.

Kind of depressing...

I'm going to watch some more football and give one of The Sisters some medication. Fortunately, The Vet gave us liquid, not pills.

Good first win

The Bruins beat the Blackhawks 3-1 last night. Ulmark had a hell of a game, stopping 20 of 21 shots on goal. That's 95% of all shots.

They played well and I like what I saw. Hopefully this is the first of many wins for them.

Next up for them is the Predators on Saturday.

In the world of baseball, here's where things stand:
Astros vs Twins - Astros win the series 3-1 and move on to play the Rangers in the ALCS.
Braves vs Phillies - The Phillies are up 2-1.
Diamondbacks vs Dodgers - Diamondbacks win the series 3-0 and move on the NLCS.
This has been your baseball update.

If the Phillies win tonight, that will finish off the divisionals. If they don't win tonight, there will be a final game in Atlanta on Saturday.

And the season begins...

This evening at 7:30, the Blackhawks will be in Boston for the Bruins home opener and I will be in Wilbraham to watch it.

This is a different Bruins team than what was on the ice last season. Bergeron has retired and Marchand is now the captain.

In my opinion, Marchand is too much of a hot head to be captain. The captain of a hockey team should be a level-headed guy who can lead the team so they play better hockey than the opponents. Marchand is a guy who used to incite fights by licking his opponent, which I think we can all agree is not the kind of behavior you would expect to see in your team captain. Or any grown-ass adult human being for the matter.

So anyways, the Bruins hockey season starts tonight and I am a happy guy.

In baseball:
Astros vs Twins - Astros are up 2-1
Orioles vs Rangers - Rangers win the series 3-0 and move on to the ALCS
Braves vs Phillies - tied 1-1
Diamondbacks vs Dodgers - Diamondbacks are up 2-0
The Rangers just made it pretty obvious that the Orioles were not prepared for the playoffs. Considering that the Orioles were the number one team in the American league during the regular season, it tells me their season record might have been a fluke.

I would like the Twins to win the next two games and move on. I like the Twins mainly because Rocco Baldelli is their manager and Christian Vazquez is their catcher.

I like Torey Lovullo. I also like Dave Roberts. I guess I want the Diamondbacks to win because as far as I know, they've only won the World Series once in their existence and the Dodgers have won several since they moved to Los Angeles.

As for the Braves and Phillies series, I guess I want the Braves to win because they aren't from Philadelphia.

This has been your baseball update.

I did a quick test today and I found that the difference between wireless internet speed and wired internet speed is really not all that significant:

Vaccinations for everyone!

I got my flu shot and my covid booster today. That means I will have a crappy nights sleep because my arm (I get both in one arm) will hurt and I'll probably have the chills.

What I won't have is the flu or covid and that's my goal. I've had covid twice and fortunately I haven't had any issues but the flu is one of those things that kicked my ass several years ago.

I hate having my ass kicked.

The Red Sox are cleaning house. Not only have they fired the pitching coach and the third base coach, they also terminated the AAA (Worcester) pitching coach. I'm beginning to wonder if they'll terminate the hitting coach (Fatse).

If they do that, I have to wonder if Cora is going to be told it's time to move on. Once they bring in a new GM, that person is going to want to bring in their own manager and coaching staff.

This is looking like it's going to be a very interesting off-season...

Speaking of baseball, here are the current standings in the MLB divisional playoffs:
Astros vs Twins - tied 1-1
Orioles vs Rangers - Rangers are up 2-0
Braves vs Phillies - tied 1-1
Diamondbacks vs Dodgers - Diamondbacks are up 2-0
Go Twins!

My yard looks nice

As Todd Wilkinson said, "What a day for a mow, huh?"

After all the rain we had this summer, my lawn actually looks pretty damned good. Sure, it's still got that damned "goosegrass" or whatever the hell it's called and there are one or two dead spots but in general, I have a nice lawn.

Quite a change from the last few years when it was brown by June and grey/dead by September.

I'm going to call this done and go eat some dinner.

It's time for Jones to sit down

I am no expert when it comes to the game of football. I know the goal of the game is to score more points than your opponent and I know there are several ways to score points.

For instance, if a member of your team manages to possess the ball in your end zone, you will get six points. If a member of your team can then kick the ball through the goalposts, you will score an additional point.

Another way is to simply get close to your end zone and have a member of your team kick the ball through the goalposts. If you can do that, your team will get three points.

Like I said, I'm no expert but it doesn't appear that the Patriots are experts either. As a matter of fact, they don't seem to know how to score points at all.

Today's game ended with the Saints beating the Patriots 34-0. The Patriots record is now 1-4.

I'm just going to say it - Jones is a terrible quarterback and Belichick is lost without Brady. It's time for Kraft to make some decisions if he ever wants to field a winning team again.

Fortunately for me, there are a lot of other teams that I like and they are winning. The Steelers beat the Ravens, giving them a 3-2 record. The Chiefs are currently 3-1 so even if they lose to the Vikings this afternoon, they'll still be above .500 with a 3-2 record.

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin just issued this notice regarding updates to the US military position in the middle-east.

From what I can tell, it looks to me like he is putting the US in a position to provide defensive cover for Israel in case Iran or Syria or Lebanon decides to launch an attack. Iran is a major backer of Hamas and has been supplying them with knowledge. information, strategy and weapons for several years.

You know who else is a huge friend of Iran? Russia.

Russia and Iran are best buddies and they constantly share information.

You know who gave Russia a whole bunch of top secret information about Israel? Trump.

Trump gave Russia a lot of top secret information about Israel and it's a pretty good bet that Russia shared that information with its good buddy Iran. It's an even better bet that Iran then gave that top secret information to Hamas who just recently launched a surprise attack against Israel.

This is what happens when we elect a president who is more concerned about making himself look good and puffing up his ego than he is about anything else.

That's it, I'm done with this.

I'm out $4.00 on this scam.

I call the lottery "taxation for the stupid" and I'm not giving them another dollar. Hell, I already give this state a lot of money in taxes, they don't need any extra from me.

I'm going to watch some more football and then maybe some LPGA golf.

Divisionals kicked off today

The Rangers / Baltimore game started at 2:15 this afternoon and right now, the Rangers are up 3-2 in the eighth.

The Twins / Astros game started at 4:45 and right now, the Astros are up 1-0 in the first inning.

The Phillies / Braves will start at 6:05 and the Diamondbacks / Dodgers will start at 9:30.

Go Twins!

I'm going to watch some baseball (and maybe some golf) while I figure out what to have for dinner.

Thank goodness for the PGA tour

Without the Sanderson Farms Championship on the golf channel, I wouldn't have any sportings to watch today.

Sometimes we make one of those frozen pizzas for dinner and tonight was one of those times.

These are the instructions for preparing the pizza:

One thing I love about our society is how stupid we must be. You just know that some moron took the pizza out of the freezer and popped it right into the oven without ever opening the box. Then they sued the manufacturer because the instructions didn't say you had to take the pizza out of the box...

We are surrounded by idiots.

And just like that, the divisionals are decided

The wildcard round is done and the divisionals will kick off on October 7th.

On the NL side, the Brewers lost to the Diamondbacks but I'm not upset about that. I like the Diamondback manager, Torey Lovullo, and they are generally a good team.

On the AL side, the Twins beat the Blue Jays so I am happy about that.

The Diamondbacks will go to Los Angeles where they will play the first two games of a best of five series against the Dodgers. The Twins will go to Houston where they will play the first two games of a best of five series against the Astros.

The other teams in the divisionals are the Phillies against the Braves and the Rangers against the Orioles. I'll probably watch some of those games but I don't really care who wins those.

I was going through a bunch of old pictures and videos that I've saved over the years and I stumbled across this gem from a couple of years ago:

Her name is Kristen Mosca and her youtube channel is kristenpoops. Her style is very reminiscent of my favorite satirist from the 1960s - Tom Lehrer. You should check out her channel.

One win, one loss

Yesterday, the Twins beat the Blue Jays but the Brewers lost to the Diamondbacks.

I currently watching the Twins / Blue Jays game and it is 2-0 Twins in the top of the sixth inning.

The Diamondbacks / Brewers game will be played at 7:08 this evening. I will watch as much of that as I can.

As for the Bruins, they lost in overtime to the Capitals last night and I'm not happy about that.

They have one more pre-season game tomorrow against the Rangers before they kick off their season on the 11th against the Blackhawks

I didn't buy one the other day but I did buy one today.
What the hell, it's only $2.00

I'm going to watch baseball.

Things got done

Nothing major or big but still, they were things that needed doing and I did them.

I met with the guy who is trying to make sure I don't become a vagrant in my old age and then I went golfing with Pat & Willie. After that, I managed to mow my lawn and then get dinner started.

Not a bad day for an old guy with a bad back.

The Bruins lost last night, getting beat by the Flyers 3-1.

They have two more pre-season games before they kick off their season on October 11th at home against the Blackhawks. Tonight they play the Capitals and on Thursday they play the Rangers.

I'm kind of hoping they get better at hockey before the games start to count...

Key phrase in this story: "It doesn’t look good for me."

I never voted for Trump and I never will. He lost any possibility of getting my vote when he insulted and denigrated John McCain.

You might not like McCain and his politics but he was an ethical man who did what was asked of him by his country. He deserved our respect and Trump went out of his way make sure everyone knew he thought McCain was "a loser".

Kelly is 100% correct when he describes Trump as, "A person who admires autocrats and murderous dictators. A person that has nothing but contempt for our democratic institutions, our Constitution, and the rule of law."

I won't vote for Biden either. As far as I'm concerned, he's just as slimy and unethical as Trump. It's just that he is better at hiding it from the general public.

I would just like an ethical person who believes that it is not his/her job to babysit and parent me.

I guess I won't be getting anymore entertaining posts from Donald Service men and women who are killed in war are losers Trump. A judge has just issued a gag order over this post that gave the clerks name.

And thus ends the Red Sox season

Yesterday, around 7:00pm or so, the Red Sox players got on a plane and flew back to Boston. Today, they went to their lockers, cleaned them out and went on vacation.

Yes, they beat the Orioles last night but the Orioles players are not going on vacation. Instead they are in the process of getting ready for the playoffs.

So now I get to watch the Twins (my AL choice) and the Brewers (my NL choice). Both teams start play tomorrow in their respective wildcard best-of-three series with the Twins taking on the Blue Jays and the Brewers taking on the Diamondbacks.

As for the Patriots, what can I say. They got their ass kicked by the Cowboys, losing 38-3. This gives them a 1-3 record and puts them in a tie for last place in the conference.

I think it's time for Belichick to re-evaluate some of his choices...

What the hell, I might as well give it a shot.

The worst that can happen is I'll be $2.00 poorer than I am right now.

While I watch the Bruins play the Flyers, you can visit these links.

Or not.

Do whatever you want to do. It's a free country.

Well, it's a somewhat free country.

Okay, it's not really a free country.

It's actually a kind of restrictive country that calls itself the land of the free. No one actually ever clarified who the "free" were. I know I'm not free. For instance, I'm not free to drive a motorcycle without a helmet on my head or to smoke in a bar or to drive my car without a seatbelt on.

Anyways, here are those links I mentioned before I went off on a mini-rant:
  • Well, this sounds boring as hell. How many times can you listen to the same four chords played in the same sequence over & over again?

  • Wait. Are they telling me that Star Trek is wrong?

  • I don't know what "conker" is but I'm certainly not going to get involved if I have to bake my nuts.

  • This one has both of the insane venues: Florida and Walmart.

  • This one just has Florida.

  • When my kids were small, they had ant farms. The ant's never lived for very long...
