What is Pete Rose's job?

I was watching some National League baseball today and I was a little surprised to see that not only is Alex Rodriguez doing commentary on the Fox Sports, they still have Pete Rose doing commentary on Fox Sports.

As near as I can tell, Alex's job is to sit there and sweat. Periodically he'll interject some comment about how he remembers so-and-so from game four of the such-and-such World Series doing the same thing as what's-his-name just did.

As for Pete, I'm pretty sure that his job is to sit back & scowl and he's really, really good at it. Also, I'm not sure if Pete has become a full blown alcoholic or if it's just that his necktie is too tight.
