They got a chance

There are two games left in the regular season and if the Rangers lose both of their and the Red Sox win both of theirs, they will end the season in a tie for best record.

If I recall the league rules correctly, the tie is broken by the differential of runs scored for and against. And no one in the American League has a better differential than the Red Sox.
