Cars are expensive

We try to maintain our cars in the hopes that they will last a good long time. We do it because cars are expensive to buy. Granted, once a car reaches a certain age, it is no longer a good idea to spend money on it but that age varies from car to car.

For instance, we had one car make it 17 years before we finally felt it was no longer worth it. One of my brothers is still driving a truck that has got to be approaching 20 years old. On the other hand, we've owned cars that turned into pieces of crap after 5 years.

Our current crop of cars seems to be of the type that are going to last us a good many years so we spend the money on maintenance and repairs.

This is a good thing because the last thing we want is a monthly car loan payment.

It's also a good thing because I have piece of mind that my daughter is driving a safe car.

The Red Sox are in St. Louis to play yet another National League team, the Cardinals. After their embarrassing losses to the Rays, I'm really hoping they take both games from the Cards and then sweep the Athletics in that upcoming four-game series.

While I watch the game, you can click on these:
