Every-which-way but loose.

Today's flying lesson was, to say the least, interesting. The winds were swirling and gusting which meant there was no way to know how fast they were going or from which direction they were coming. This made for some interesting landings...

We left Northampton and navigated on a quick cross-country trip to Turners Falls. Once there, we did 3 touch & go's and 1 go around.

In a touch and go, you actually land the plane on the runway, retract the flaps, throw on full power and take off.

In a go around, you never touch down. You hold the plane level with full flaps, throw on full power to get the plane back to flying speed, retract the flaps and head up into the pattern.

As for Turners Falls, it's in a small bowl-shaped depression in the hills just south-east of Turners Falls. That bowl in the hills made those swirling winds even more swirly. Specially when taking off.

Still, I love this.

So the Red Sox failed again last night. That's 3 losses in a row and it puts them below .500. This is not a good sign.

Hopefully they can stop the streak tonight and get back to .500
