No baseball tonight

There is, however, some pre-season football. The Patriots will play a game against the Eagles at 7:30 this evening.

For those of you that still watch football, NBC will be carrying the game.

For those of you that stopped watching football because somebody decided to exercise their first amendment rights and take a knee while the National Anthem was playing, I just want to tell you that I think it's a damned shame you stopped watching something you always enjoyed watching because someone had an opinion you don't like.

Oh, and I'll also mention that when you change your habits because of a protestor, you are actually doing what the protestor wants you to do. Not only do you not get to enjoy watching a football game, they get to say, "Look at what we did! We are successful in our protest! People are changing their ways! Yay us!"

Personally, I don't pay any attention to protestors because it seems that everyone has a pet peeve these days and they like to protest about it.

Imagine if we all stopped paying attention to protestors. George Carlin once did a bit where he portrayed a news anchor. One of his "headlines" was the following:
A man has barricaded himself inside his house this afternoon; however, he is not armed and nobody is paying any attention to him.
We should do that to protestors.

As for baseball, with last night's loss to the Yankees, the Red Sox are now firmly in third place in the ALEast. Furthermore, they are currently tied with the Athletics for the second wild card slot in the American league but because they are 1 percentage point below the Athletics, they are technically out of the wild card.

They are off tonight. Tomorrow they will welcome the Rangers in to Boston for a three-game series. Hopefully they fare better against the Rangers than they did against the Yankees.

I'm gonna make some dinner and then watch some football.
