Paxton pitched pretty well, going 6⅓ innings, giving up three earned runs and striking out seven.
Once again, the defense had zero errors and, despite leaving the bases loaded twice, the offense still managed to step on home plate quite a few times. Add those two things together and I'm a happy guy.
Game two of this four-game series is tonight and it starts at the same time as last nights game: 7:40.
Which leads me to say, "Thank You Minnesota Twins. Thanks for thinking about us old guys back on the east coast."
Most central time zone teams start their games at 8:10 eastern time. That means I never make it to the eighth or ninth innings. By starting thirty minutes earlier, the Twins make it easier for us eastern time zone people to actually watch the entire game.
Now on Friday the Red Sox are in Chicago and the White Sox don't give a shit about us east coasters. That game will start at 8:10 eastern time.
As it stands right now, the Red Sox are three games above .500 and only ½ a game behind the Blue Jays. They are also only 1½ games behind the Yankees for the second wild card slot.
I think the rest of June and the month of July should be interesting. The MLB trade deadline is August 1st. If the Red Sox can hold their own and maybe make some moves to shore up the offense, they stand a good chance of playing baseball in October.
On the other hand, I hope they don't trade away their prospects for a shot at a wild card slot because that would be dumb. Really dumb.
I'm going to say something that will probably piss some people off:
I do not care that five extremely wealthy people will/have drowned because they decided to piss away $250,000 each to take a ride in a submarine to the bottom of the ocean.
They think of themselves as "adventurers" and "heroes". I think of them as people with more money than they will ever need flaunting their wealth by buying trips to places like outer space or to the ocean floor.
You know who a hero is? Bill Gates is a hero. Gates spends his wealth on things like creating safe drinking water in impoverished nations. Warren Buffett is a hero. Buffett spends his money on healthcare.
Those people are/were arrogant, spoiled brats who always got what they wanted. This time, however, they got something they didn't want.
It's time for the news media to stop calling it a tragedy and reporting on it every few minutes. It's not a tragedy.
A tragedy is when a grandfather and his three grandchildren are killed by a rich drunk asshole. That's a tragedy.
Goofy Joe's boy, Hunter, decided to plead guilty to tax evasion today and it's got Trump all kinds of pissed off.
Maybe if Trump admitted that he probably shouldn't have held on to those top secret battle plans instead of claiming that everyone was hitting him with "angels", he would've gotten one of those sweetheart "TRAFFIC TICKET" deals...
Dinner tonight will be chicken parmesean with penne pasta followed by baseball and maybe some brownies for dessert.
