That means this is short.
The Red Sox managed to hold on and beat the Guardians 5-4 last night. Paxton pitched a great game, going seven innings and giving up only two earned runs.
The hitters seemed to be hitting the ball well but not when it counted through most of the game. Then, in the eighth inning, they managed to drive in four runs to take the 5-4 lead. Jansen only needed 13 pitches to close out the final inning and earn the save.
This means the Red Sox are once again above .500 but just barely.
Hopefully they win again tonight. They need to win series if they want to be in contention in September. If they keep playing the way they are, they will be nothing more than an afterthought come October and that will be bad.
