Merry Winter Solstice

Today is the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere, and at 10:20 pm eastern time, the sun will briefly line up with longitude 23.4°, also known as The Tropic of Capricorn, before beginning it's long laborious trek back to the Tropic of Cancer in the northern hemisphere

Here in the "Commonwealth" of Massachusetts, the sun rose at 7:09 this morning and it set at 4:14 this afternoon. That meant we got to see the sun for a total of 9 hours and 5 minutes. Or as I like to think of it, just over 1/3 (.375) of a day. The other two thirds were spent sitting in darkness.

No wonder we're always cranky up here...

So anyways, as I always ask of you druids out there, please do not go sacrificing any virgins today. Or any other day for that matter. As a matter of fact, just leave the damned virgins alone.

The Bruins continue their slippage:

They have developed an interesting habit of grabbing a first period lead, maintaining that lead in the second period, giving up that lead in the third period and finally losing the game in the overtime period or in the shoot-out.

Trust me, that is not good. It indicates that the lines are tired. It indicates poor in-game management of players.

Maybe Montgomery needs to rethink his player utilization.

Still no significant changes in the Red Sox team roster.

I'm beginning to think that in 2024, I'll be watching 162 baseball games just for the sake of watching baseball. No sense watching any of those games to see if the team wins or anything like that...

Time for some dinner and bad television.
