I've given this a lot of thought and I agree with the Associated Press. The government did indeed violate the spirit of the First Amendment and the AP has every right to scream foul.
But.....
Since no one in the media stood up and screamed foul when every branch of the federal government and several state governments were busy proposing or passing laws that directly impacted the Second Amendment, they have given up their right to scream foul about any other perceived constitutional violation.
Screw you Mr. Gary Pruitt. You are too late to the table to claim that your rights are being violated. You gave up your constitutional rights when you failed to not only defend the Second Amendment, you pretty much agreed with the government that it was a good idea to minimize & rein-in the Second Amendment and you used the emotional impact of the victims to do it.
So screw you Gary, you suck. Everytime the government whips out those famous words "National Security", you fall on your knees and castigate yourself before the great Obama. You deserve what you got so shut up and take it like the pussy that you are.
The press is no longer the press, they are the media.
They spend more time writing about who got voted off "Survivor" or who won "Dancing With The Stars" than they do writing about the federal government allowing known gun runners to purchase large quantities of high-power firearms and smuggle them across the border into Mexico, resulting in the death of US Border Patrol Officer Brian Terry.
They spend more time writing stories about Obama making his one thousandth speech about how he's going to shut down Guantanamo then they do writing about the large number of civilians, including Americans, killed by US drones that the President is using in the middle east (and elsewhere) (Oh, and by the way, I'm okay with this. I'm just not okay with the press ignoring it)
They spend more time writing about how colleges and unions are taking their investment money out of funds that invest in fossil fuel than they do writing about the complete lack of government programs to develop alternative fuel sources.
I will defend the First Amendment in the same voice that I use to defend the Second Amendment but not for you or any other so-called press organization that consistently writes favorable, and misleading, stories about the government.
I'll do it because it's the right thing to do.
I'll do it in the hopes that one day in the future, the media will return to being the press and they will start digging into what the government is really doing instead of simply reporting what the government tells them to report.
I will do it in the hopes that one day, my children or grandchildren will have their own Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein to look up to instead of what they currently have - a bunch of go-along-to-get-along pansies, afraid to ask any real questions or dig for any real answers.
