Not much to prattle on about today

The President is still trying his best to make the IRS/Benghazi/First Amendment things go away.

Our esteemed governor is trying to make us believe that the 2.4 million dollars in state welfare fraud is only 0.1 percent of the total welfare dollars. His exact quote is, "I think the takeaway is it would do everyone well to remember that 99.9 percent of that money is spent appropriately."

I feel compelled to point out that if the $2,400,000.00 is only 0.1 percent of the total, then we got some serious issues because that mean the total state welfare budget is 2.4 billion dollars.

Seems like 2.4 billion dollars is a lot of money to be handed out in a state that has a total population of only 6.7 million people.

The world needs fast-food clerks

Not everyone can be smart. It's a simple rule of nature that some beings are smarter than others. In certain cases, some beings possess a high level of intellect regarding one thing and are incredibly stupid when it comes to other things.

For instance, if you were to put Albert Einstein and Ugh the cave man on the top of a mountain for 15 or 20 days with no shelter, food or water, I'm willing to bet that Ugh would be the smarter of the two and Professor Einstein would either be dead or totally reliant on Ugh for food and shelter.

I bring this up because there are times at work when I want to tell someone that it might be best if they quit their current job and look into a promising career in the exciting and fast-paced field of fast food service. I want to tell that to certain people because certain people are freakin' idiots and they cause more problems than they solve.

Those people are going to give me an aneurysm.

Long Day = Short Post

I managed to have myself a long day today.

Then, when I got home, I managed to put in the two remaining air conditioners.

Now, I'm going to manage to watch the Red Sox play the Phillies.

Hopefully they manage to win.

I have a freshly shorn lawn

My wife called me at 1:00 this afternoon and said that my new lawn tractor had arrived. I said, "I'm on my home now." She informed me that I was like a kid with a new toy and I said, "No, I'm a guy with an 8 inch lawn and rain on the way."

So I made it home around 2:00 and mowed my lawn.

My house no longer looks abandoned.

*

The Red Sox returned to first place in the AL East last night when they beat the Phillies and the Yankees lost to the Mets. This is a good thing and hopefully an indication that they are going to continue having a far better year than last year.

Hopefully they win again this evening.

It was nice having an extra day off

Every 6 or 7 years, Memorial Day falls on my birthday. This is one of those years.

I hope you all enjoyed my birthday off.

*

I've now made it to the "legacy" age. I am now the same age my father was when his life ended.

I'm shootin' for a few more years...

This is funny.

And true.

I still think the internet is closed on Sundays

Ever Sunday, I poke the interwebs to see what falls out and all I ever find is the same stuff I found when I poked it on Saturday.

I guess the webernet deserves a day off too.

*

I know I rant about the national media no longer being the press and I realize that I'm beginning to sound like a maniac of sorts but still, you have to admit that it's interesting how you can find this kind of simple and clear analysis or this headline on no-name websites but not in the national news.

I guess it kind of bothers me that the so-called "fourth estate" has become what is essentially just another entertainment outlet.

*

I may have erred when I chose my new lawn tractor.

My old lawn tractor had a 42 inch mowing deck that fit nicely through the gate on my back fence with an inch or two to spare on each side.

My new lawn tractor will have a 46 in mowing deck.

I suspect that I will be either mowing the fenced in area with my push mower or replacing my 45 inch gate with a 48 inch gate.

*

The Yankees lost and the Red Sox won. That means they are now tied for first place in the AL East.

I should be able to mow my lawn soon

We bought a new lawn tractor today and hopefully it will be delivered on Tuesday. My lawn is pretty damned long but then again, so is every other lawn in my neighborhood. The rain seems to have mixed nicely with all the fertilizer for everyone and we all have nice long green grass.

So anyways, they should deliver the machine on Tuesday and hopefully the grass will be dry enough that I can cut it then.

*

The Red Sox won today but so did the Yankees. That means the Yankees remain one game ahead of the Red Sox in the AL East.

Hopefully things will work themselves over the next few weeks and the Red Sox return to first place. Until then, I'm not unhappy with the way they are playing. There are still a few injuries that they need to overcome and I'm really liking the fact they are pushing Jose Iglesias to play positions other than short stop. He's a pretty talented kid and they can use that talent.

Some people should not be allowed to have children.

My mom is an pretty religious woman who rarely, if ever, misses a Mass or a Holy Day Service. She is a firm believer that God takes care of us and she will tell you that each of her six children have an overworked yet underpaid guardian angel.

But my mom was also an educated woman well versed in the ways of the medical community and never once in her life did she ever assume that God would take care of us when we were sick.

Oh, she might say a prayer to help but she made damned sure we got proper medical care for whatever ailed us, even if that medical care was her slapping a butterfly bandage on a wound that probably needed a stitch or two...

Screw you, Gary Pruitt

The Associated Press is screaming that the Justice Department violated the First Amendment of the Constitution when they went and got phone records for 20 AP phone lines over a 2 month period. The government did it because someone in the Justice Department was leaking stories to the Associated Press.

I've given this a lot of thought and I agree with the Associated Press. The government did indeed violate the spirit of the First Amendment and the AP has every right to scream foul.

But.....

Since no one in the media stood up and screamed foul when every branch of the federal government and several state governments were busy proposing or passing laws that directly impacted the Second Amendment, they have given up their right to scream foul about any other perceived constitutional violation.

Screw you Mr. Gary Pruitt. You are too late to the table to claim that your rights are being violated. You gave up your constitutional rights when you failed to not only defend the Second Amendment, you pretty much agreed with the government that it was a good idea to minimize & rein-in the Second Amendment and you used the emotional impact of the victims to do it.

So screw you Gary, you suck. Everytime the government whips out those famous words "National Security", you fall on your knees and castigate yourself before the great Obama. You deserve what you got so shut up and take it like the pussy that you are.

The press is no longer the press, they are the media.

They spend more time writing about who got voted off "Survivor" or who won "Dancing With The Stars" than they do writing about the federal government allowing known gun runners to purchase large quantities of high-power firearms and smuggle them across the border into Mexico, resulting in the death of US Border Patrol Officer Brian Terry.

They spend more time writing stories about Obama making his one thousandth speech about how he's going to shut down Guantanamo then they do writing about the large number of civilians, including Americans, killed by US drones that the President is using in the middle east (and elsewhere) (Oh, and by the way, I'm okay with this. I'm just not okay with the press ignoring it)

They spend more time writing about how colleges and unions are taking their investment money out of funds that invest in fossil fuel than they do writing about the complete lack of government programs to develop alternative fuel sources.

I will defend the First Amendment in the same voice that I use to defend the Second Amendment but not for you or any other so-called press organization that consistently writes favorable, and misleading, stories about the government.

I'll do it because it's the right thing to do.

I'll do it in the hopes that one day in the future, the media will return to being the press and they will start digging into what the government is really doing instead of simply reporting what the government tells them to report.

I will do it in the hopes that one day, my children or grandchildren will have their own Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein to look up to instead of what they currently have - a bunch of go-along-to-get-along pansies, afraid to ask any real questions or dig for any real answers.

Little Timmy Murray quit today

Our esteemed governor said that he will not appoint a new Lt. Governor to replace Timmy "Look how fast I can go!!!" Murray. That means that if President Obama fires Eric Holder and replaces him with Deval Patrick, our governor will be William Francis Glavin.

You know what? I like him way more than our current esteemed governor.

This is interesting....

According to almost every anthropologist worth a tinkers damn, Homo Sapiens first appeared on the continent of Africa. They then spread across the globe as the sea levels rose and fell or ice bridges appeared.

That means that on all continents other than Africa, we are an invasive species.

Not to minimize what happened in Oklahoma but when all is said and done, someone needs to have a long conversation with the  authorities out there.

Here is the ABC News live report showing what was going on in Moore Oklahoma overnight:
    By ABC News©
    May 21, 2013

9:24 a.m.: Oklahoma Medical Examiner reports 24 people dead, seven of which are children, dramatically lowering the number of people believed killed.

7: 15 a.m.: Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin told “Good Morning America,” “It’s a very sad day in Oklahoma. A lot of hearts have been broken.”

6:43 a.m.: President Obama will deliver a televised statement regarding the Oklahoma tornado at 10 a.m. ET.

6:28 a.m.: Pope Francis tweeted, “I am close to the families of all who died in the Oklahoma tornado, especially those who lost young children. Join me in praying for them.”

5:33 a.m.: McClain County Animal Response Team spokesperson Dr. Patty Mannas told ABC News affiliate KOCO-TV that at least 50 pets have been pulled from the rubble in Moore, Okla.

“We’ve already reunited a few animals and animals with microchips have a very, very high percentage of being reunited with their families,” she said.

4:20 a.m.: The death toll remains at 51 but the Oklahoma Chief Medical Examiner said they expect around 40 more bodies.

2:50 a.m.: Moore officials tell ABC News the search and rescue operation at Plaza Towers Elementary School is now a recovery effort.

12:50 a.m.: Texas Task Force 1, the state’s elite search and rescue team, has been activated to assist local officials and first responders in Oklahoma. The team, which includes 84 total members, was deployed to New York City following 9/11 and to New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. It was recently deployed to West, Texas, following the explosion of a fertilizer plant.

Monday’s devastating tornado that ripped through Moore, Okla., killed at least 51 people, including 20 children, but authorities expect that number to rise. Spokeswoman Amy Elliott of the Oklahoma City Medical Examiner’s office said she believes at least 91 people are dead.

Make note of the fact that at 4:20 am, they were continuing to report that there were 51 dead. Then at 9:24 am, they said that 24 were dead.

It seems to me that 51 is a pretty exact number. They didn't say, "Around 50" or "More than 50" or "About 50", they said "51 are dead".

That is precision and precision indicates that someone had done an actual counting of those people that were no longer alive. And by exact counting, I mean someone had lined them up and counted each person by walking down the row, tapping each foot and saying, "One dead person, two dead people, etc..."

Then, after 12 hours, they say, "Oops, our bad. When we said 51 were dead, we really meant 24 are dead."

Did the other 27 people suddenly stand up and say, "Oh man, that was a great nap. I really needed that." and walk away?

They do this all the time. They did it with gun deaths (30,000 reported, 9000 actual), they did it with smoking deaths (100,000 reported, 5,000 actual) and now they are doing it with natural disaster deaths.

Goddamnit, if the authorities are going to release facts about an event, any event, they should be using factual facts, not made-up facts. I hate when they make up facts. I hate being lied to by the government.

I'm beginning to think that if you took all of the "deaths" that various government authorities report to the media over the course of a year, the entire population of the United States would be dead.

It's nice to have friends with friends.

The old, "I know a guy who knows a guy" network has paid off for me. John was able to find someone who would take my old tractor for parts and scrap. This saves me a pretty chunk of change in disposal fees.

I figure that at the very least, I owe John a beer or five.

How does one dispose of a 400 pound lawn tractor?

My wife asked me what I was going to do with my now-destroyed lawn tractor.

That is an interesting question because I have no idea what to do with it. I'll probably call the people that take my trash and see if they can do something with it. If not, I'll have to find a local guy. I'm pretty sure the old trash man sold his business to another gut who kept it local.

If any of you have any suggestions as to what I should do with a 400 pound collection of non-functional lawn tractor parts, please feel free to let me know.

In the meantime, I have John making suggestions as to a replacement and I have Pat checking his sources for reliability and cost-effectiveness. Hopefully, between the two of them, I'll find a suitable replacement that I can afford.

Just in case you are wondering, I am not the person who bought the winning PowerBall ticket.

Guess I have to go to work tomorrow.

I am the creator and the destroyer....

The other day, I informed you that I was not a small engine repair guy. I was wrong. Turns out that with the help of YouTube and Google, I am indeed a small engine repair guy.

The symptoms being displayed by my push mower indicated a blockage in the fuel system. I replaced the fuel filter and cleared the lines but still the mower would not run.

I did a quick Google search and found a YouTube video showing that the problem could be a blockage of the one or two small jets in the float bowl on the carburetor. The video showed how to get the part out, how to clean it and how to put it back in.

I set about taking the float apart and getting at the jets. They didn't seem plugged but since I'm old, my eyesight sucks and I couldn't really tell. I ran a fine wire through the holes, replaced all the parts, filled the tank with gas and started it up.

I'll be damned, that fixed the problem.

I did all of the trim on my lawn and the lawnmower ran like it was brand new.

Then I broke out my old reliable lawn tractor and set about mowing my entire yard.

I finished up with the lawn and pulled the tractor over to my dumping area to empty the grass catcher. As I was putting the bags back onto the catcher, I hear two or three loud bangs and the tractor stopped running.

It then started smoking. A lot of smoke.

It then started leaking oil. A lot of oil.

I raised the hood and, after the smoke cleared, I noticed two large cracks in the side of the engine block. Oil was seeping from both cracks and I suspect also from another crack on the bottom of the engine.

The first thought that crossed my mind was, "It's like my grandmother, Nana Rosannadana, always said, if it's not one thing, it's another. If it's not clogged carburetor ports on one lawn mower, it's a blown engine on another."

So while it looks like I may have my push mower working nicely but I seem to no longer have a lawn tractor.

Sucks to be me.

White noise....

The company I work at has installed white noise generators to help minimize the constant din of conversation within the building. Unfortunately for me, the white noise is far more distracting than the conversations. They tell me that I will eventually get used to it and not even notice it there but I'm not sure about that. You see, I'm the kind of person that focuses on distracting noises.

If there is a dripping faucet, a ticking clock, a tapping foot or someone jingling coins in their pocket, that is all I will hear and I will begin to get irritated by it. I can't imagine that this white noise is going to be any different.

Sucks to be me. Thank goodness I have a MP3 player and a nice set of earphones.

Despite the fact I fell asleep during the seventh inning and I wasn't available to offer my sage coaching advice, the Red Sox kept on keeping on and beat the Rays 4-3 thanks to a three-run double from Will Middlebrooks in the ninth inning.

Despite my early support for Jose Iglesias as the short stop, I can't help but be very impressed by Steve Drew. The man started out on the DL and I had little or no faith in his ability but he has gone a long way in proving me wrong.

He can really play short stop and he plays it well. He can also hit the ball.

All I have to say is thank goodness Cherington didn't listen to me on this one. I was all set to trade him off and give the job to Iglesias.

I guess that's why Cherington is in charge of those kind of decisions and I'm not.

They are playing the Twins at 8:10 this evening which means I probably won't be able to stay awake to watch much past the fourth inning. Hopefully they manage to keep on keeping on without me and keep on winning.

I am not a small engine repair guy.

When I was a freshman in high school, I took a technical drawing class. It was a two semester course so it lasted the entire year. The first semester was spent learning about perspective, measurement  scale, etc... The second semester was all about surveying with a final project.

For my final project, I picked illustrating a Briggs & Stratton 4.5 hp engine. This meant I had to dismantle the engine, measure & draw each piece and then put it all back together. I was able to accomplish that in two weeks with three classes per week, one hour each class. In other words, it took me 6 hours to strip the engine, measure all the parts, draw them and put it all back together.

I got an A for the course.

Having said that, you would think that I might have some knowledge of small engines and even an understanding of how they work.

You would be wrong.

I tried to repair my push mower today by replacing all the filters and cleaning the carburetor  I had no problem replacing the air filter but replacing the fuel filter resulted in a nice little spillage of gasoline all over my garage floor.

And don't bother to ask about the carburetor cleaning because once I spilled the gas trying to replace the filter, I figured it would be best if I just skipped over the part where I removed the carburetor and cleaned it.

Bottom line is that I need to get my lawn mower over to a repair shop so someone who knows how to fix small engines can fix it.

Isn't arrogance a wonderful thing.

It must be nice to be Eric Holder. Not only did he skate on the whole Fast and Furious thing, it looks like he's going to get a pass on the whole seizure of Associated Press phone records.

What, exactly, does Mr. Holder do for us? Seems like he hasn't been involved in anything that the department he is responsible for has done lately. If he's not running the Justice Department, why is he collecting a paycheck for being in charge of it?

The real reason the current administration is finding itself under scrutiny is because of the sheer arrogance they exude. From the President on down, there is more arrogance flowing out of them than I have ever seen. Hell, they make the Nixon White House look damned near apologetic and contrite.

We need an arrogant, weasel-like reporter like Bob Woodward to start asking his famous questions again: "What did the President know and when did he know it?"

Oh yea, we also need a new Attorney General. The one we have now is either extremely incompetent and incapable of controlling his organization or he is a sleazy little prick who is incredibly disdainful of the laws he has been appointed to uphold.

And don't you dare get me started on what was done to the people in the US Embassy in Benghazi, Lybia. Those poor bastards were left hanging out to dry and they were murdered when our government decided not to send any help.

Our wonderful Ex-Secretary of State managed a nice little coverup on that whole thing. And for those of you that don't believe me, start reading some news sights other than NBC or ABC. That woman practically hand-crafted every email and memo written about it to make it look like a civilian uprising caused by some silly YouTube movie instead of the terrorist attack that everyone over the age of 5 knew it to be.

Still trying to recover from my vacation.

I am tired and I think it's because I got very little sleep last weekend.

Don't get me wrong, the hotel we stayed in was very nice and the bed was comfortable. I would recommend the hotel to anyone that was looking for a place to stay in Boston but lets face it, it wasn't my house and it wasn't my bed.

When I was working in a job that had me traveling all over the country, I got used to sleeping in strange hotels. Those days are long behind me now and I haven't done that kind of thing in almost 10 years. I'm not used to it anymore.

So anyways, I'm thinking I need another two or three days to catch up on my missing sleep. Maybe I'll be okay by next Sunday.

*

The Red Sox are playing the Rays tonight and I am hoping they manage to win this game. As a matter of fact, I'm hoping that they manage to win this series. They are currently one game behind the Orioles and two games behind the Yankees. They need to start winning series again or they are going to dig themselves into a hole they can't get out of.

I know they are experiencing some injuries but so are the Yankees. Injuries aren't a good reason to lose games. Eventually, the Yankees are going to get their big hitters back into the line up and that is when the winning will get hard.

They fertilized my lawn.

Last Thursday, before I left for Boston and before it decided to rain for two days, the fertilizer guy showed up and fertilized my lawn.

While I was in Boston, the lawn and the fertilizer got together, had a little dance party with the rain and before anyone knew it, the grass started growing and took on the appearance of a field of winter wheat.

Fortunately for me, my youngest is home for the summer and he took it upon himself to mow the lawn.

He's a good kid.

Back home.

Before I forget: Happy Mothers Day to all you mothers out there.

*

Okay, on with the story.

On Friday morning, four of us - my youngest, my daughter, my wife and myself - loaded up some clothes and headed to Boston for the weekend. We checked into our hotel rooms, met up with our eldest child, collected his clothes and put them in the room while he went and received some much-anticipated instructions from his educational institution.

On Friday afternoon, we left our hotel rooms, walked across the street to the Boston World Trade Center and watched as my eldest child received his Doctoral Hood in an age-old ceremony known as the "Hooding Ceremony". (No one has ever said academics were good at naming things.)

After that we spent the day walking around the city, experienced some fine dining and, finally, some much-needed sleep.

Then, on Saturday morning, we all left our hotel rooms, walked across the street and watched my eldest receive his Doctoral Degree in an age-old ceremony known as "Graduation".

After that it was once again much wandering around the city, more fine dining, more wandering and more fine dining. Then, finally, some much-needed sleep.

Two things of note regarding this trip:

1) As a family, we are all extremely proud of his accomplishments. He completed his studies on time and graduated with his class despite spending most of his 5th and 6th years dealing with a disease that no one at the age of 23 should ever have to deal with.

2) I never want to experience fine dining again. We ate some seriously great food this weekend and right now, I feel like a tick on a dog that just can't let go. I think I'm going to pop at any minute. In other words, I'm extra fat.

I am, as always, the proud dad.

*

Now that we are back home and The Dog is once again reunited with his pack, I think it's time for me to call it a night and crash into a deep sleep. Despite the fact we stayed in a great hotel, it was not our house and none of us got as much sleep as we needed.

Oh, and in case you are interested, yes, I rolled down my window and yelled at the Red Sox as we drove past the Fenway. They need to stop losing and start wining. I know there are still more than 115 games left in the season and things will change but right now, they need to win some series.

I am not a plumber, part III

I woke this morning and, as I do every morning, I went into the kitchen to make coffee. That was when I discovered that the rug in front of our kitchen sink was wet. I discovered it was wet because I stepped on it and my socks were immediately turned into sponges.

Since this ain't my first rodeo, I knew this condition was bad. Very, very bad.

I pulled everything out from under the sink and found about a half inch of water collected in a tub that was under the drain and a quarter inch on the floor of the cabinet. Because there was water in the tub, I was able to locate the leak based on where the tub was sitting and found that the tail pipe was disconnected. Not a lot of disconnected but enough disconnected that it was leaking pretty good.

I swear to God it was connected yesterday

Oh,  and did I mention that it was probably leaking last night while the dishwasher was running...

I figured that while I was under there screwing around with pipes, skinning my knuckles and banging my head on sharp/hard stuff, I would correct the hot and cold feeds on the faucet so I didn't fill The Dogs water bowl with hot water again.

The moral of this story is: If you need a plumber, don't call me, call a damned plumber.

*

My youngest is home and The Dog is experiencing something akin to nirvana. From his perspective, this is absolutely the best thing ever. First the girl comes home and now the boy! What could be better!

He is once again in full-blown puppy mode.

And that, my friends, is bad for the cats because he wants to play with them. They, however, don't want to play with him.

*

In case you haven't noticed, I'm reluctant to talk about the Red Sox. I'm not discouraged but I am beginning wonder what the hell is wrong.

I'm not a doctor so I'm not going to accuse Hannrahan of being a slacker with his "forearm tightness" but that sure sounds like a kind of weiner problem for a guy who is getting paid a lot of money to throw one inning of baseball every few days....

I have re-sinked the sink.

As I mentioned at some point in the past, when I installed the sink, I failed to cut the hole in the counter correctly.

There is a ledge below the hole in the counter that needed to be cut down another 1/4 inch so today I disconnected and removed the sink, took a reciprocating saw to the ledge and then dropped the sink back in.

You'll be pleased to hear that it now fits like a glove.

That is if it was a blood-soaked leather glove formerly owned by Orenthal James Simpson.

Oh, and I managed to reverse the hot and cold supply. This means that at some point tomorrow, I have to crawl back under there and correct the problem.

I just don't feel like crawling back under there again today....

Not much else to say today and I didn't have any time for searching the webernets.

Let's just call it a day and move on with our lives.

Busy day

We drove up to Keene, NH to start the process of moving our youngest offspring home for the summer. The drive up to Keene and back home is always a pleasant drive, specially when the weather is nice and the traffic is low.

We got there just after noon, had a nice lunch, did a little shopping for sneakers for the child and then headed  back to the college. It took us another half hour to load the car and then we headed home. He sent home all of the unnecessary items like his TV, his video games, his stereo, etc...

I have no idea how a 19 year old can survive finals week without his stereo or his video games but I'm betting he'll do just fine.

in 5 days, my eldest child will graduate from college with a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree.

Just thought I'd mention that because I am, as always, the proud dad.

You can't blame it all on Doubront.

Yes, he sucked and he gave up 18 hits but the Red Sox hitting wasn't all that great. They managed only 6 hits and that just isn't enough to get guys to step on home plate. In their case, it wasn't enough to get anybody to step on home plate.

And that, my friends, is not the way you win games.

Hopefully tonight goes better for all concerned.

I managed to get my lawn mowed and then made a decision that I'm probably going to regret. I have decided to take the new sink out of the counter, adjust the hole in the counter-top a bit and then put the sink back in.

Now that the sink has been in for a week, I can't help but notice that the front and one side seem to be slightly bowed upwards in the middle. A quick check shows that a ridge around the inner edge os the sink is resting on the bottom of the cut I made. Apparently I didn't cut it deep enough.

So, at some point, I'll take the sink out, adjust the cut and then re-seat it.

Wish me luck.

Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man....

....really freakin' tired in the afternoon.

I fell asleep at 8:45 last night and woke up at 3:30 this morning. By the time 4:00 rolled around, I was having a hard time keeping my eyes open. I felt like I was drunk driving home after work which kinda sucks because I didn't have the pleasant little buzz that goes along with being drunk, just the half-closed eyes and occasional head-snap..

I watched as much of the Red Sox as I could and I gotta tell you, I'm not entirely sold on Ryan Dempster. He pitched okay and kept the Blue Jays in check but they hit the ball. They hit it a lot. As a matter of fact, the Blue Jays hit the ball more than the Red Sox hit the ball. The only difference is that the Red Sox managed to get more guys to step on home plate, which, as we all know, is the only way to win a baseball game.

He seems like he's working very hard to be nonchalant about the whole, "Yea, I'm pitching in the big show. That's right, I'm cool" thing. He's got the Curt Schilling persona without the Curt Schilling control.

Hopefully his next outing, which will probably be next Tuesday against the Twins at home, will prove me wrong and he really can control the ball.

Class ended early today.

We finished up our training class around 2:30 today which meant I was able to make it home by 3:15 or so. Trust me, The Dog was extra happy to see me and he dragged me out for a nice long walk. And who can blame him. It was all of about 75°and sunny with a light breeze. That is the perfect day for wandering around the neighborhood peeing and sniffing.

Just to be clear, he does the peeing and sniffing, not me. I just walk around and tell him not to crap on anyone's lawn.

And in case you d0n't believe me when I say it was a nice day for a walk, I took this picture of my neighbor's side yard:

Long Day today and tomorrow

I spent my day in a mandatory training session. You know how you can tell a training session sucks? It's when they make it mandatory. If it was any good, everyone would take it without being forced.

I did get a chance to look at some news and I discovered that they have arrested three more 19 year college students in connection with the Boston murders.

So what were these kids thinking when they decided to throw away all of the evidence they could find? Did they think it would be a good idea to help out a guy who had just blown up 200 people?

Kids, if I can give you one piece of advice, it's okay to back a friend when he's done something like slept late for class or lied to his girlfriend when you all went out drinking one night and he told her he couldn't go out with her because he was sick. It's not okay to back your buddy when he's committed murder.

Is that clear?
