The Bruins lost and the Red Sox won

The Bruins lost to the Islanders in a shootout last night. The final score was 2-1 and even though they lost, the Bruins still picked up one point. That was enough to keep them in fourth place in the east. This is important because the top four teams in each division will make the playoffs.

They are one point ahead of the Flyers and if they continue to lose, the Flyers will take the fourth spot from them, their season will end on May 8th and they will watch the playoffs from their couch.

They need to start winning. Soon...

I'm thinking since shit flows downhill, Jeremy & Charlie Jacobs are leaning on Cam Neely to right the ship. Neely is giving Don Sweeney the "win or walk" talk and Sweeney is telling Bruce Cassidy his job is on the line. That means Cassidy is gonna start benching guys until they all start to play like champions.

As for the Red Sox, they beat the Braves this afternoon 5-3.

That kid Bobby Dalbec is a monster. He hit a grand slam this afternoon and if memory serves, it's the fifth or sixth homerun he's hit during spring training. If he can keep that up once the season starts, he'll put that team on his back and drag them into the playoffs.

Of course, once the season starts, the pitchers and scouts usually figure out pretty quickly what pitches will beat a batter. Maybe he can't hit a changeup or a slider or a high fast ball. Whatever his achilles heal, he better learn to hit it because the pitchers will quickly figure it out and start throwing only that pitch to him.

Devers also seems to be in much better shape. He has lost that little belly and put a few pounds of muscle on his frame. I think he'll do just fine this season.

I love watching the youngsters play. They all play the game like it's a game, not some factory job.

No sports for me to watch tonight so I'm going to enjoy my Last Man Standing DVRs.
