This is not going to end well

It's beginning to look like Russia has figured out that they actualy need to use tactics and superior firepower if they want to defeat the Ukrainians.

Yesterday there was a report of a 40 kilometer-long column of military vehicles moving towards Kyiv which I believe might be both an attacking column and a supply column.

Last night there are numerous reports of Russia dropping cluster bombs on the cities. If you don't know what a cluster bomb is, imagine a tube filled with hundreds of sticks of dynamite. When the tube is dropped, it bursts open and sprays the dynamite over a wide area. When the dynamite hits the ground, it explodes, sending shrapnel and flaming liquid everywhere. Now, change the dynamite to a high-grade military explosive that is several times more powerful and you have a cluster bomb.

There are calls in the UN, NATO and European Union to fire up the world court and hold hearings on war crimes against Putin, his cabal and the Russian military leaders for targeting civilians and for using banned weapons.

If Russia does win this war, the world will never welcome them back to the party. They will be treated like North Korea.

For Ukraine, there is no winning of this war, there is only survival.

Oh, and before I forget to mention it, this little Russian excursion has made our already messed up economy even worse. This is the DJIA over the month of February:

I'm never going to be able to retire...

Enough war stuff, let's take a look at the sportings.

The millionaires & billionaires are still acting like spoiled little brats and it looks like we won't see baseball until June or July.

The Bruins, however, have gone on a sweet little five-game winning streak and are now 3 points ahead of the Capitals in the wild card race. They thumped the Kings last night, earning themselves two points in the standings and proving that maybe, just maybe, they still have what it takes to win the cup.

The left Los Angeles today and drove a twenty miles down I-5 to Anaheim where they will play the Ducks at 10:00 tonight.

One of thee days they will be back in the eastern time zone and I will be able to watch them play. Until then, I'll just keep checking the scores in the morning and liking the fact they are winning.

At some point tonight, Goofy Joe will take the dias in the U.S. Capitol Building and give his "State of the Union" report to congress.

This is a constitutional mandate where Article II (Executive Powers and the Presidency), Section 3 states:
He shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient.
No president in my lifetime has ever actually given congress a "State of the Union". Instead, they use the opportunity to talk about what a good job they are doing.

I can pretty much guarantee you that if you watch the State of the Union tonight, you will not hear, "We are in a world of hurt. The economy is tanking, gasoline is above $3.50 & rising, there are shortages of essentials, the average wage of a CEO has risen 200% while the average wage of a working stiff has risen only 3% and it looks like maybe covid is going to stick around forever."

Instead you will hear that he has a plan to get the economy moving again, lower gas prices, fix the supply chain and increase worker wages. He'll also tell us that his administration's push to get everyone vaccinated is the best thing ever.

All of which is bullshit.

He has no plan. All he has is that corny catch phrase of his, "Build Back Better". Sounds like something a 5 year old would say when his buddy knocks over his lego tower.

I decided to do a speed test this afternoon. Turns out Spectrum is still kicking ass:
