Yes, there is baseball tonight

The Red Sox will take on the Nationals this evening at 7:10pm.

Pivetta has the start and I'm really hoping he does as well as he did when he was a reliever who could go four or five innings.

The guy can certainly pitch and having him back in the starting rotation would be great for the Red Sox.

In other baseball news:

That means the Red Sox are now a game and a half ahead of the Judges in the wildcard race. They are still three games behind the Blue Jays but I have a feeling they might make up some ground over the next few days.

This is not gun violence. It is plain old fashioned evil human violence and until our society recognizes that fact, it will continue.

Near as I can tell, the term "gun violence" has become a way for us, as a society, to remove blame from the humans that commit these God-awful acts and place it instead on the tools used by those scumbags. Trust me, take the gun away and they'll use a knife, a bomb or their motor vehicle because if killing is what they want to do, they'll find a way to do it.

Calling it "gun violence" is our way of saying, "It wasn't me! It was the gun!"

Stop blaming guns and start blaming people. And you can start with the politicians that hamstring the police by restricting what they can and cannot do, create rules that allow criminals to be criminals with no fear of punishment and impose draconian rules on those that follow the laws but provide ample means for criminals to be be forgiven for their crimes.

I blame the politicians, our elected officials, who jumped on whatever societal-altering bandwagon happened to be popular when they were running for office and changed the rules. That's what is driving this wave of violence.

Yes, my internet is still functioning just fine.

Hopefully it stays that way for many years.

Time for dinner and then baseball.
