Taxable income

When I applied for my unemployment benefits they asked if I wanted taxes withheld. I, being a smart individual, said, "Yes. Please take some of the money that the government is giving me and give it back to the government because, what the hell, I don't need it anyways!" That meant that each week, a certain amount of my benefit went directly to the federal and state governments.

What did not get withheld was FICA which means my eventual social security benefit will be slightly lower.

I hate when my eventual benefit is slightly lower...
