Merry Independence Day

I hope you all had an enjoyable day and celebrated appropriately.

And by appropriately, I mean that if you live most of the states in the United States, you enjoyed some fireworks but if you live in Massachusetts, you are too stupid to use fireworks and you did not go anywhere near those nasty & evil fireworks or those equally nasty & evil sparklers.

We are under a flood watch:
Apparently we had so much rain that the ground is saturated and any additional rain will go immediately into the streams and ponds. This means that if you live near a stream, a pond, or even a ditch that sometimes turns into a stream, you might want to pay attention to it.

What we are not under is a drought:

Last year at this time, most of the state was under a moderate drought:

The Rangers came to Fenway and they brought a couple of old friends with them - Nate Eovaldi and Martín Pérez. Fortunately, neither one pitched today. Unfortunately, Eovaldi is scheduled to pitch on Thursday.

Today was a bullpen day for the Red Sox. Bernardino pitched 1⅓ innings and when Cora pulled him the Red Sox were up 1-0, there were no outs and the Rangers had a runner on first. Ort came in and pitched the remaining ⅔ of the second inning. When he was done, the score was 3-1 Rangers.

Ort was replaced by Murphy who is a multiple-inning kind of guy and he went 3⅔ innings. When he was done the score was 4-1 Rangers.

I gave up trying to keep track of the pitchers after that. These bullpen days kind of mess with my head. Besides, once the game reached the bottom of the eighth inning, they pulled everyone off the field and put the tarp down.

I'm not sure if they'll every play the last inning but as it stands right now, the Rangers are beating the Red Sox 6-2. If this is the way the game ends, the Red Sox are once again at .500.

I'm going to grill up some burgers and then watch some DVRs.
