They need to win

There are 18 games left in the regular season and they are in first place. The Blue Jays seem to be on a downhill slide and the Orioles aren't playing like they were in the earlier part of the season but the Yankees have been on a real tear lately and they are now only 4 games behind the Red Sox.

The Red Sox don't have to win every game but they do need to win every series. That being said, they are tied 1-1 in their 3-game series against the Orioles and when this one is over, they go right into a 4-game series against the Yankees. That means they need to win tonight so they maintain that lead.

The way the Yankees are playing lately, the Red Sox are going to be hard pressed to win 3 out of the 4 but if they can split 2-2 with the Yankees, they stand a chance of going down to Baltimore with a nice 3 or 4 game lead in the ALEast.

Here's to hope.
